Just a question about the desert, does it make sense to wear a long sleeve shirt to protect yourself from the sun? How hot is 107 F.? Will there be a Tool tent where we can just hang out instead of baking in the sun?

no, not really. i would recommend short sleeves and sunblock lotion. long sleeves or a light jacket available is a good idea as it can cool down after dark.
Thousand Oaks, I can manage taking the bus to wherever I need to meet up at. Where you at supersteve? How many people are going with you? Thanks for replying...
I live in Huntington Beach, Thousand Oaks is pretty much in the opposite direciton of Indio. I could probably pick you up at the Irvine/Santa Ana train station and drop you back off there afterwards.
The only thing is I that I still need a ticket and i'm not even sure if I will be doing the driving, so we'll see.
I live out in Indio so I'll let you know whats up...expect it to be VERY nice actually. We saw some rain clouds today with a little drizzle. The weather should be around 90-95 during the day (which is nothing out here) and around 60-70 at night. This is the desert, so it WILL get a little cold at night. I suggest a t-shirt and jeans...you should be fine.
Also, Tool is SCHEDULED to go off at midnight, but who knows, they might extend their set. Sometimes at Coachella fest, things dont go according to plan and the schedule gets fucked up...anyway...see you guys there.
Anyone know if there will be any special shuttles or public transport from the airport (Palm Spring) to the concert? I checked the web site and theres nothing about it on there...
Hey Kaoticz, any tips on where to park? I hear getting out of the parking lot can take hours. I'd rather walk a couple miles to my car afterwards, if that's an option.
Also, Darshun (or anyone else needing a ride), I'm not too familiar with the LA area, but I'll be flying into LAX Saturday afternoon, renting a car then driving in. I could probably hook up a few folks if they are on the way.
kabir- you got your plane ticket already, right? I dont see any flights still available from NY to Palm Springs. My flight looks like its completely sold out.
How good is the perimeter security? worse comes to worse you could jump over the fence? Dont worry too much though between the tens of thousands that are going to show up Im sure there will be many people desperate to dump their extra tickets.

a general tip... I went to the last Phish show in Vermont a couple summers ago, and it was just a complete clusterfuck what with torrential rains adding to the driving/parking situation. Anyways, we got in and parked pretty deep in the campsite, not too far form the stage which was cool, but, we knew we'd be completely shit out of luck when it was time to leave Sunday night. So, although it was probably the biggest pain in the ass of the weekend, we packed up camp and drove outside of the venue before the last show then walked back in. Ended up in a comfy bed in New Hampshire Sunday evening while some people didn't make it out until late Monday night/early Tuesday.
Definitely worth walking a few miles to save 2 days, especially if you have a job to get back to.

thanks for the info....
im currently working a project in santa barbara and i have a new guy starting 8am.....
and i have another employee to pick up in LA on the way back to santa barbara.....
so not to mention the drive alone is rated at 3.5 hours (by google maps) from indio to SB...now i gotta worry about getting out of there as quick as i can!
at least the guy in LA is cool and knows i will be picking him up around 2-3am.....and im driving the company paid rental car.....with this $3.xx gas expensed!
Im sleeping overnight in the camp after Tool, and leaving on Monday morning, however do you people realize Monday is supposed to be the big immigration protest? What if they shut down the airport? I guess we could be stuck in Indio...
Anyway, as soon as I get back to NY Im thinking of heading to the Village check out the madhouse at Tower Records...
edit- just read that on-site camping is sold out, and looks like there is large demand (many posts on their board people looking for pass and no sellers), that sucks big time for anyone that was planning on camping. I mean so where are people supposed to stay? Sleep on the sidewalk? I hope it doesnt turn ugly.

it was this older guy....bought the tickets for his son but his son decided to go to hawaii instead.....he knew how much they were going for on ebay and craigslist, but he couldnt justify selling them for more then face value. i gave him an extra $20 for the hookup.....he was a true life saver.
bummer kabir....ill continue to keep my eyes open for one.
if anyone needs a camping ticket, hit me up. ill give it away for free. The guy that I got my ticket from didnt want to seperate them. so i paid face value on a sunday ticket and camping ticket
if they play 10,000 days ill pretty much cry like a little bitch.
i second that. i'd like to hear Right in Two, but there's really too many songs i'd like to hear for the time they have alotted. then again, these first shows are "warm-ups" for their tour starting around august, so... whatever they play i'll be ecstatic to hear... i last saw Tool at Coachella in 99, and May 3rd, 94 the time before that. I did have a ticket to a show in October 96, but didn't have a ride :( worst feeling in my life. anyway, i'll be there, so if you see me.. smoke me out! :)

A friend of mine just sent me an email saying that she just saw TOOL rehearse this past tuesday and that she's contempt from going to coachella. How'd she hook it up? Well, she so happens to be the nanny (if i recall correctly) for Devo.
