Correct. I had front row in San Diego last time around. It was fine but the better view/sound for this band is a bit further back. Plus I had constant distractions from security trying to clear people out who did not belong there.
How DARE you talk about a non-Tool band in these forums. Mods!
But ya, it's good.

You coming down for the Forum show? I didn't get tickets yet but will for sure.
Btw, very behind here but anyone going to the Puscifer shows at the Ace? I have tickets to both including front row on the Friday show. Hope to see some of you there.

Sounds good! Let me know plans. Bar we went to by the Greek is called Little Dom's. Love that place! I don't think we ate there that night but their food is pretty fantastic too.

That's awesome! Definitely hitting the Sabbath show up so will see you there. I don't have a ticket yet but one thing I have noticed about the Forum is they often release good seats a day or two before shows so that's my plan. I'm gonna try that same tactic for the Scorpions 50th ann show there this coming week. Hope it works- never seen em.
I'm in for the Thursday HB Gilmour show at the moment. Probably pick one up for either the Friday show or the Sunday show at the Forum as we get closer. Maybe all 3? I just got his new CD so will likely base my decision on it.
AC/DC at Dodger Stadium next Monday is on tap as well. Got 15th row dead center. Already dusted off the flashing devil horns- I'm ready for action! Recently saw QOTSA at secret show in Downtown at a tiny venue called the Teragram Ballroom. They are so fukin great live and seeing them at small club was a treat. Really love Troy's playing. Neil Young coming up at the Forum has me stoked. And pretty excited about those Puscifer dates too.

they do rock concerts at Dodger Stadium? the baseball venue!?
PS: toronto sports fans are more mis-privileged than a tool fan waiting for a new album. great to see the jays likely to win their division and make the playoffs. i wonder what the chances are of a jays-dodgers world series right around the time of monster mash when i'm in LA. that would be neat.

Very few, but this AC/DC tour has included a bunch of ball parks. The recent show at Wrigley Field was filmed for a DVD
I'm pulling for the Jays. My A's getting rid of Josh Donaldson was a real turning point for them.

It'll probably be quite an interesting (and expensive) event I expect, but probably not really the news many were wanting to hear...

What's the point ? What is there to ask? They won't say a thing about the new album or the curveball. Wtf is supposed to be asked? "How's the wife and kids?"

Adam seemed pretty happy to answer questions at the last VIP sessions. The problem is that for things like the new album or the curveball, there don't seem to be answer to them that anyone wants to hear.
People want to hear "were recording in March and the album will be out in October" not "we've been writing an have a few songs written" which is the more likely response. There's only so many ways the band can answer the question "what's going on with the new album?".
Let's not beat around the bush though, the real reason of the VIP sessions I suspect is to make money. That's not to say that those fans with the money won't get a great experience out of it - every report I've heard from the Adam Jones sessions was that they were great. Just don't record it!

I sincerely enjoyed the VIP session I went to with Adam, and it sounds like these might involve more than one member of the band. I would gladly take part again in the future if it meant meeting Danny or Justin. With that said, this is a damn disappointing announcement, honestly--I was hoping for something that would affect more than just those individuals going to the Monster Mash show.

if the next tour had the vip sessions, i'd be happy to pay to attend, but the sessions on their own without a show? that seems crass. as hellboy said, of course it's about the money, and i don't fault them for that, but it is a bit annoying how much bullshit they've been pulling the last while.

I disagree. The only reason I imagine it's not on the day of the show is just because it's pretty tricky to get such a thing to happen in a festival setting. Having it the day before was a compromise that needed to be done.

to be honest the coolest part of the VIP experience was the SOUND CHECK. 50 people in a 10,000 seat venue to be close up watching them play 2 songs was incredible.
assuming this will not happen for this based on the no performance thing. lame.

Unless they are able to use the marqee venue for the vip session and use their stage for the "sound check", that venue is right over the bridge to where monster mash is going to be, and as far as i know there is nothing happening that day there, just a thought....
Guess we'll know more come Wednesday

They were $500 a ticket on the previous tour, I can't remember whether that included a ticket to the show or not? I'd expect prices to be similar this time around.

"Last week, we had a major breakthrough that will likely shake the world that we know today. We have found evidence on Mars that there might actually be a new Tool album on the way. Can you f**king believe that man!?!?! CAN YOU F**KING BELIEVE THAT?!" the overexcited man said as he was escorted off of the stage.
Experts believe that proof of a new Tool album could still be 10 years away, as Tool is known to operate on yearly cycles of other planets - which explains the painstaking gaps between albums.

At the Arizona sound check we got to listen to Stinkfist and Sober with Maynard doing the vocals before being let into the concert arena. Even though we didn't "see" the sound check w/ Maynard it was still pretty awesome. Some banter as well I believe Maynard said something to the effect "hey don't fucking ignore me" in the space between the songs lol. Then we got 1 song, vicarious, in the arena with lights on sans Maynard. I think I ended up standing with some of DC's family in the back of the crowd as well, didn't bother trying to get "as close as possible" just wanted to make sure was centered at that point because honestly there wasn't going to be a bad spot to watch

After the sound check in Austin, Adam started playing the chorus riff from The Bit by The Melvins. I started freaking out, telling my friend about it--"This is The Bit! I can play this song!" It was cool to hear him play some stuff from a band he is close to. The sound check was very cool.

I think they are well past the point where the next album will truly be worth the wait. Even if it's capable of appeasing the 10kdays "haters".
My hope is we will see it drop some time in 2016, and then they get off their asses and crank out a DVD/Blu-ray already. All things being equal, they should probably be able to make at least a few of those. Sell that shit. Make some damn videos. No more blankets and pillows.
Honestly, I'd rather see these guys just CREATE rather than stagnate in the name of "artistic integrity", because that will only get them so far. A 10 year wait isn't going to make this next album any better than it could have been if it had only taken 7 years to make. And that's only going to become more true as times goes on. They either need to create for creation sake, or become the nostalgia band that hellboy pointed out they are on the verge of becoming. King Crimson is more active these days than Tool.
All that said, I'm still interested in hearing this next album... but I'm way over it taking this long. They really ought to be announcing that they are entering the studio before the end of this year. It's becoming silly.
