I used to think i was crazy when I'd see and associate colors with songs. But, then I read somewhere that many musicians like Jimi Hendrix did and do the same. I was just wondering what colors do everyone think of when they hear the songs of this album. I see a more variety of colors in Aenima than in Lataralus. Here's what I think/see in detail:
Stinkfist: red and black and a light blue during the bridge
Eulogy: yellowish orange
H.: red throughout the song that gets lighter when the song gets lighter and darker when the song gets heavier
Useful Idiot: blank haha
46 & 2: A yellow and black. Almost like sand.
Message To Harry Manback: A dove.
Hooker With A Penis: Black mostly with whisps of yellow
Intermission: Polka!
Jimmy: Almost a gelatin like black with movements of gold. Then shots of yellow like overhead lights during the bridge that shine in accordance when the chords strike.
Die Eier Von Satan: Gray and black
Pushit: Yellow and black with the occasional light blue
Cesaro Summability: I dunno...i just see a baby!
Aenema: Red with a little black. Then blue during the "I'm praying for rain" part.
(-) Ions: Blue orbs in a black backdrop
Third Eye: Flowing red with underlying orange and black. The occasional nothingness coordinates with the music.
I have to agree on you with some of the colors. Though, I see more of sequence in (-) Ions...And for Useful Idiot...I see silver/grayish lines, like when your TV goes out? yeah.

Ive heard Adam talk about colors. I think he said they almost called sober "red" because thats the color he saw when listening. I also noticed that on the last tour, they opened with sobor with all the red lights and that red backrop.
I dont associate Tool songs with color as much, i do see the blue in Stinkfist, some green on Enima, but I dont see the red in sobor.

ions-well, have you ever seen electricity such as lightning or the jacobs latter, and kinda a fog forming at the end
third eye-black, then a rainbow of colors slowly emerges as bill hicks speaks, then from that emerges blue, at the so good to see you part a flashback to the colors of jimmy, the prying open part, very very bright white, the holy crow part, the ground around the shadow a cross between maroon and violet, at the end after the prying part, a faint strobe light

Actually, it was in a guitar world interview and he said that they almost called parabola "red".
how do you see colors? Do they flash in your head briefly? The only color I have ever seen is yellow.... during third eye I was relaxed and kind of falling asleep and when the quote came in it scared the hell out of me and I saw a flash of yellow light (my eyes were closed)..... same for Reflection, I was falling asleep, a loud part startled me, and I saw yellow, only it happened numerous times throughout that song....
falling asleep while listening makes the music much more interesting sometimes

Hello.... could someone define seeing colors for those of us that can't? Are you talking about a bright flash of light/color when you have your eyes closed? Is it like you are really fully seeing something in first person as if it were real or a vivid dream? Or do you just see it very vaguely floating around in your head?
90% of the time i don`t see colors...i see shapes...lines......(for example, i see parabolas when i listen to parabola)....i also see paths and feel like i`m walking through them.....

I don't really see colours. It's just how I would draw the feelings when listening to some song. It's what colour comes to my mind when I hear something. For example, listening to Disposition it reminds me of sky and rain so the colour would be light blue.
Though it would be cool to really see those colours.
in my case... the colours are just in your mind. You dont necessarily see them... its more of a feeling. For a while, i thought my friend and i were the only ones to notice the colours, then i saw this thread. hmm its proving harder than i thought to describe it. I guess it has something to do with the way you hear the music, and what environment you are in. if you are still having trouble... imagine you have to describe a couple songs just by using a color... or more. should help you.
I absolutely associate colors. Morw with CD's than specific songs. Lateralus gets a blackish-brown feel with a bit of white, Aenima gets a straight black and white feel, and Undertow gives me a lot of red.
well I have this problem with seeing things in my mind.... sometimes I will vividly see something when I have my eyes closed, as if I were dreaming, or actually seeing it in first person, however no sooner do I realize I am seeing it then it is gone, as in order to see these things my mind has to be completely shut off, or at least as shut off as I can get it, and when I see them it causes me to think about what I saw, thus bringing me back into reality
there is another form of seeing things though, that is getting stronger....... Imagine what you see when you close your eyes, the back of your eyelids, the sort of blackness that exists inside your eyes when they are closed..... now imagine in that blackness you will sometimes see colors or objects floating around, however they are not vivid, and you are not seeing them as if they were real, you are just seeing them transposed onto the blackness, sort of like a painting...... also its kind of like when you look into a really bright light and close your eyes and you see weirdly shaped colors inside your head, kind of like that
this is what i normally "see", it isn't stimulating to see at all, merely mildly interesting, no emotions come with it........ however when I will see something in first person as if it were real when my eyes closed, that's what i strive to achieve, but like i said it's next to impossible for me
last night I saw (by saw I mean floating around in my head, not like first person) lions listening to the intro of the OKC concert, usually I see abstract things so this was kind of interesting..... during the grudge they became violent and were eating things, and i recalled a video i saw of lions killing a man, however none of this was scary or disturbing to see, as it wasn't really there (first person, like i talk about)
i hope this made some kind of sense, and I hope someone out there knows what I am talking about and can share their experiences with "seeing things"
oh and as a note I have never done drugs aside from the usual caffeine and tylenol
I kinda get really wishy washy images and colours in my head that are head to explain, but the cool thing I get sometimes is this feeling of almost having the world expand around and you feel really small like youve shrunk. It's hard to explain but turning all the lights off, lie in bed and listening to Tool seems to sometimes do it.... It's not really that trippy and you can't do it when you try to do it.....but its just realy cool....
Anywho I'd like to say Patient is red for me, same as jimmy and forty six and 2. aenima is more blue and black, ticks and leeches is gold same as H. except H also has some green....

when i listen to any music (not just tool) i see colors. But when im relaxing i can see things. most of the time i just sort of close me eyes and liten and without thinking about it my mind takes me somewere depending on the mood of the song like when i listen to jimmy i am sometimes in a desert near dark. and i might fell strange or scared depening on what i see because i dont remember that its not real but when i do (after 2 or 3 seconds) i remember whare i am and it all goes away because i am thinking agin. IT SUCKS!!
Myself and a friend were discussing colors and the like, but when i listen to a tool song, i close my eyes and i get pictures, clear color picutures to what i think the words mean and what a "music video" would look to me. He only sees colors to pertain to songs. I was thinking and perhaps seeing pictures rather than colors is almost the next level, an advanced thing to not just see colors but to see pictures with colors. i guess its really up for discussion, i feel a bit more advanced that i can put a picture or pictures to a song as opposed to just colors. my friend disagrees, and im just looking for input on the situation
I also see pictures when i listen too songs. I don't think it's the same thing as seeing colours though. I sometimes see colours too. When I see pictures I am fully awake and thinking about the lyrics ans I see pictures that fit with the lyrics. When I see colours I am not really thinking about the lyrics and the colours just pop into my head. Sometimes though, I get pictures popping into my head that really doesn't have anything to do with the lyrics or anything. This doesn't happen very often though, but that is more like when I see colours. I have too be totally relaxed for this to happen and it usually doesn't last for very long.
