Post your similarities here...they are scattered throughout several threads as far as I know...just trying to bring it all together
Listen to H. at 3:30
then Rosetta Stoned at 6:00

Rosetta Stoned from 2:23 till 2:55 is very similar to some The Patient riffs.
Rosetta almost seems like a Tool medley lol

Rosetta Stoned, 1:13 - 1:30, sounds like the beginning of Reflection.
Right in Two 4:25 - 4:50 vs. Pushit 4:25 - 4:50.

Haven't heard it as I haven't stolen it but I am guessing that right from track 1 throught to track 11, it sounds like TOOL.
I bet the guitar sounds like Adam is playing it.
I bet the bass sounds like Justin is playing it.
I bet the drums sound like Danny is playing them.
I bet the vocals sound like Maynard is singing them.
I bet Adam uses notes on his instrument that he has played before
I bet Danny uses his floor tom among many other drums he has used before
I bet Adam uses sequences of notes that he has used before
I bet Danny uses fills he has used before
Does this have any point?
No, there is no reason why any of this has any relevance at all.
Why? Because I bet there is not a single track on that album that is the same is any other song ever recorded. By anyone.
It seems strange and insulting that so many of you have stolen the album and then so hasitly complained that they got ripped off because "it all sounds the same". I should post this last part in other areas where people are complaining it doesn't sound ENOUGH like tool "they would never do this" etc...

Ok, here's my complete run through of all the references to all the songs. I was going to make a thread, but you've done it already - at least I actually bothered to do a list, you just did the thread and told everyone else to.
I'd just like to point out to implandnoises that if you haven't heard the album, you can't judge us for saying 'it sounds the same.' We're not saying it sounds the same, Tool have actually used direct audio references to previous material.
So, there are deliberate flashbacks to previous material, all put together to make new songs, and the album is a great listen. Here's a list of all the flashbacks I think I can make out from 10,000 Days, the song and time they occur, and the song, album and time they are reflecting.
01. Vicarious
Time Memory
0:00 The Patient 0:00 (Lateralus), Schism 3:30 (Lateralus)
1:07 Schism 0:40 (Lateralus)
1:18 Schism 0:20 (Lateralus)
2:47 The Grudge 2:09 (Lateralus)
3:47 46&2 4:41 (AEnima)
6:02 Schism 5:58 (Lateralus)
6:49 Schism 6:32 (lateralus)
02. Jambi
Ok, I can honestly say this sounds like nothing Tool have done before.
03. Wings For Marie
1.09 4 year old riff. used to introduce Lateralus during 2002 shows.
1.40 X-files theme
04. 10,000 Days
6:26 Disposition 7:33 (Lateralus)
8:38 The Patient 6:12 (Lateralus)
05. The Pot
1:41 Prison Sex 0:25 (Undertow)
4:30 46&2 4:05 (AEnima)
06. Lipan Conjuring
Lets play name the segue.
07. Lost Keys
Not really a song.
08. Rosetta Stones
0:15 Swamp Song 0:06 (Undertow), Third Eye 2:32 (AEnima)
1:12 Reflection 0:41 (Lateralus)
2:23 The Patient 4:39 (Lateralus)

8:38 The Patient 6:11 (Lateralus)
9:15 46&2 2:15
10:28 AEnima 6:11 (AEnima)
09. Intension
0:33 Eon Blue Apocalypse 0:38 Lateralus
3:04 Disposition 0:00 (Lateralus), Reflection 0:20 (Lateralus)
10. Right In Two
0:00 Tone and rhythm of the guitars is a strong reflection of Lateralus (track)
0:20 Disposition bass harmonics 1:24 (Lateralus)
1:37 Tabla layers, straight out of D/R/T
3:58 Tabla and ethnic percussion from Reflection/Triad, Disposition-like Whammy bass. (Lateralus)

What segue does Lipan Conjouring remind people of? You talk like its obvious but i have no idea. Another direct take from the lateralus album in Rossetta is the synths from the background of Reflection. Dont know the time as havent currently got access to the album. And i know its not a similarity but Right in Two 6:01 "TIMMAY!!!" I know i keep posting this one but it has to be heard. Listen to that and then give your "its not a hoax your retard" comebacks.

Eulogy 2:09 - 4Degrees - 0:22
The Grudge 8:26 - Eulogy 8:18
Schism 5:42 - Pushit 8:54
Ticks and Leeches 2:45 - Undertow 1:06
Just about as similar as anything listed above, aside from the verse riff from Third Eye which does appear note for note in Rosetta Stoned. For a guy writing in Drop-D all the time, creating mammoth 7 minute plus songs filled with guitar riffs, I'd say some similarities are inevitable.

you know what other similarities you would find between TOOL's differen albums?
the band members! what a surprise!
Opiate -- Danny, Adam, Maynard, Paul (skinny looking kids fit enough to get naked in from of the camera)
Undertow -- Adam, Danny, Paul, Maynard (more money this time to make better video)
Aenima -- Justin, Adam, Danny, Maynard (they've experimented with a lot of things by this point)
Lateralus -- Maynard, Justin, Danny, Adam (woh, what happened? they gained weight here, especially Maynard. oh well Maynard is by this point a new parent)
10,000 Days -- Justin, Maynard, Danny, Adam (some people think TOOL is a hoax. After all TOOL sets itself up to be its own hoax)

Right in Two
6:24 - 7:09 (46&2 4:05-5:05)
3:37 (Patient 2:17)
7:50 - Adam plays a variation of the riff once, which is in a different key but has the same chord progression as Joan Osbournes "What if God Was One of Us"

I have an idea, let's do that same experiment with Led Zeppelin.

whats sad is you guys havent even thought of what IS MY greatest fear...
this album is the END.
all that tool is and has been, summed up questions answered (and very straightforwardly so) its also about death and letting go and forgiveness and things comming to an end regaurdless of how hard you want to hold on...
discuss.
im sorry i love the similarities and little "hints" back to old TOOL, and its not like its just there last album or riffs or tones... its all of those things together so much so that it must be on pourpose, maybe not for a wrap up album as i just suggested, but its not like there are EXACT riffs... just nods to parts of songs.
there artistic right... IMHO (it is there art)

Don't forget that there's a little riff in Rosetta Stoned that is clearly in Vicarious.

There are little moments of silence in every song ever made. If you really listen closely you can hear chickens with their heads cut off running around on the pot.

I'd just like to point out to implandnoises that if you haven't heard the album, you can't judge us for saying 'it sounds the same.' We're not saying it sounds the same, Tool have actually used direct audio references to previous material.
So, there are deliberate flashbacks to previous material, all put together to make new songs, and the album is a great listen. Here's a list of all the flashbacks I think I can make out from 10,000 Days, the song and time they occur, and the song, album and time they are reflecting.
01. Vicarious
Time Memory
0:00 The Patient 0:00 (Lateralus), Schism 3:30 (Lateralus)
1:07 Schism 0:40 (Lateralus)
1:18 Schism 0:20 (Lateralus)
2:47 The Grudge 2:09 (Lateralus)
3:47 46&2 4:41 (AEnima)
6:02 Schism 5:58 (Lateralus)
6:49 Schism 6:32 (lateralus)
02. Jambi
Ok, I can honestly say this sounds like nothing Tool have done before.
03. Wings For Marie
1.09 4 year old riff. used to introduce Lateralus during 2002 shows.
1.40 X-files theme
04. 10,000 Days
6:26 Disposition 7:33 (Lateralus)
8:38 The Patient 6:12 (Lateralus)
05. The Pot
1:41 Prison Sex 0:25 (Undertow)
4:30 46&2 4:05 (AEnima)
06. Lipan Conjuring
Lets play name the segue.
07. Lost Keys
Not really a song.
08. Rosetta Stones
0:15 Swamp Song 0:06 (Undertow), Third Eye 2:32 (AEnima)
1:12 Reflection 0:41 (Lateralus)
2:23 The Patient 4:39 (Lateralus)

7:03 H 3:27 drum samples (AEnima), Reflection Drum samples 0:58 (Lateralus)
7:42 The Grudge digital clapping sample (7:33) (Lateralus)
8:38 The Patient 6:11 (Lateralus)
9:15 46&2 2:15
10:28 AEnima 6:11 (AEnima)
09. Intension
0:33 Eon Blue Apocalypse 0:38 Lateralus
3:04 Disposition 0:00 (Lateralus), Reflection 0:20 (Lateralus)
10. Right In Two
0:00 Tone and rhythm of the guitars is a strong reflection of Lateralus (track)
0:20 Disposition bass harmonics 1:24 (Lateralus)
1:37 Tabla layers, straight out of D/R/T
3:58 Tabla and ethnic percussion from Reflection/Triad, Disposition-like Whammy bass. (Lateralus)

daaamnn you are obsessive and or crazy/ insane. (not an insult or complement)
Im hoping you faked that list and did not actually recognize those distinctions.
It did remind me alot of previous work but i can't distinguish the exact times of relation .... althought i honestly would not want to.

lol at all these people calling us/me fools for seeing these repeated riffs, and the people doing the ironic 'hey bits of lateralus sound like aenima!'. You're missing the point entirely. 10,000 Days is MEANT to be reflecting these earlier riffs, they are DELIBERATE recycles. There are no stolen riffs on LAteralus. There might be a few bits that sound like other albums, because it's the same band! But 10,000 Days is different, they are DELIBERATELY using the SAME riffs. If you deny they are there, you're missing the very point, and you're more foolish than those that know they're there.

when i first listened to the record, i didn't think they were just rehashing old riffs, i just thought it plain old sucked. now, i think they are rehashing riffs, and the record still sucks. whether the use of the same riffs is artistic and tasteful or cheap and disgusting is overshadowed by the fact that the whole thing with little exception just plain sucks. i'm only interested in finding the rehashed stuff because i believe this album is a collection of non-cohesive b-sides and that we haven't heard the real thing yet.

Well, I do like the album. It's not what I was expecting though, and with the use of the old riffs (happens so often and so obviously that it's deliberate) coupled with the fact that Vicarious has amazing production whilst the rest of the album doesn't match to me hints it was the only one inteded for radio, because the album is really a hoax.
