Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

too fuckin short. Basically the same length as the city center show. I expected some bonus material for the last show in the US.

Great show otherwise. The sound was spot on. The laser show was terrific.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT! BEST SHOW I'VE EVER SEEN!

I'll write up a review on the whole thing in the a.m! But i just want to say the audience was fucking awesome!! Hanging out with Tool with our lighters- that was the shit! Everyone rocked out and behaved! except one kid who i saw being escorted out by security, caught with drugs? lol

If anyone saw, i was the kid with a grey sweat shirt, scruffy hair and goatee in section 105 if you saw me :P And i was also the guy in the Green ford who went over the curb and fucked up the bottom of the car on the way out of the parking lot ;P

I saw a ton of tailgating, i knew i saw some of you lol i was gonna shout TDN!!! but decided not to :/ I was near the smoking girll if any of you guys were over there.

edit:
anyone see Adam fuck up on the end of Lateralus[I think it was lateralus atleast] that was kinda funyn cause maynard looked over and was like WTF MATE?! haha that adam.. spacing out on stage.

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

THIS SHOW WAS UNREALF!!!!!!! Tool was amazing, they were spot fucking on. I was 5 rows from the band right in the middle, and the sound was deafening. The visuals were ridiculous, the lasers, sooo fuckign cool. The videos for all the songs were SOOOO COOL. Looking at the lasers from below with the smoke caught inbetween them....it was soo good.

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

Amazing show. We could feel the air being displaced by the speakers. My hearing is still not back - hopefully by tomorrow it will be fine. I was a tiny bit disappointed at not getting something special for the last show but boy, the stuff they did play was mind-blowing. Personally, I thought Stinkfist, Wings, Lateralus, Vicarious, and Ænema were amazing. The light/laser show kicked ass and the part in 10, 000 Days where the lasers were spread out and mixing with the smoke to create clouds was unreal!! I just wish the jackass behind me would've kept his mouth shut. He would randomly scream during the song. A guy got caught smoking in our row in the middle of the song so that was a bit of a distraction.

I thought the sound overall was pretty good but a little shrill. Adam and Justin played really well and other than a couple of small errors on Adam's part, everyone was spot on. I really loved the talkbox solo! Danny was excellent and Maynard was moving around quite a bit. The Forty Six & 2 drum solo is even better in concert.

Looks like we weren't as loud as Jersey. Shame on us. :P

But hey, MJK said they were coming back in the spring. Hopefully new setlist and new setup!! I for one had a great time at my first Tool concert!

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!

AMAZING SHOW! I cant review it now because the people who complained earlier are douchebags. Tomorrow I shall post some clearer thoughts, easily the best show I have ever attended. 2nd row infront of Adam, view was phenominal. After the show, I gave Danny a total fanboy "YEAH DANNY!" to which he gave me a thumbs up (awesome).

Cant wait for the spring(2017).

Yes Dloozer, the show was unrealf!

Justin joining Isis was sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet. I want that hat!

And, to the people who took Wings/10,000 Days as their opportunity to take a leak and/or get a beer, id like to say, wow, what an asshole you must be.

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

It was a good show, not great. Maybe it was the section, 114. I thought it was gonna be a lodge area, but it was basically one step above the floor. It was still kinda far back however.

My ears are still ring, that shit was loud. It sounded good though. Lateralus was by far the hit of the night. Anyone who disagrees, fuck you. I wasn't trilled about the setlist. They need to do away with schism and the pot and add some older stuff

Maynardism:

"careful when leaving, go home and have sex with a condom. Its not the law, just a suggestion"

When they come back, hopefully i get better seats.

I noticed one back at the soundboard, but i didn't see any others. I think if they were recording a dvd, there would have been tons more cameras.

BTW, did anyone notice during Lateralus, maynard was messing with the mic and the lamp on his synth for the photographer back behind stage. I thougth it was pretty funny. I'm excited to find out where they tour in the spring. Hopefully it will be up in Syracuse where i go to school. I'm tired, and still very very deaf. Peace The Fuck Out, and remember...it's not a law....just a suggestion.

Totally agree- This show blew the NJ show apart- the vibe was excellent the crowd was awesome- not too many assholes thank God- MJK was much more engaging tonight and the sound was a hell of a site better- I saw them four times this year and everyone was great but tonights show was the best- I think it was better then the Mini tour

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

For those of you who said the sound was deafening, you must not go to many loud concerts.

Show was excellent. Nowhere close to Lateralus tour. This was a different kind of good. Instead of being an obscure band with a message, Tool has now succumbed to pandering to the fans. However, they have NOT lost their integrity, and I don't think it's a bad thing that they're basically just out there now to make people happy and have a good time, rather than tell them what to do. Adam fucked up a lot, but I think some of it was because his guitar tech kept running in after every song to fix something.

The lasers were cool, but I didn't think they were necessary. They were over-used and distracted me from the stage.

I couldn't believe how well they nailed Rosetta Stoned. My favorite song of the night, along with Lateralus and Aenema.

Seemed short. When they played on the Lateralus tour, they did extended Stinkfist, extended Schism, The Grudge, Cold and Ugly, Parabol/Parabola in full, H., Sober with Merkaba, Disposition/Reflection/Triad, and Lateralus. It just seemed a lot longer back then, for some reason.

Enjoyed the show. Had a wonderful time, and I appreciate Tool's new direction a little more now, which is what I had hoped would happen. But I still felt that the people who didn't see the 2002 touring have missed out on something that will never be matched by them ever again.

P.S. Even though I suppose it worked to create a great connection live, I STILL think Wings/10K Days is too long and flat for my liking. Even live, I was ready for them to move on five minutes in. Maybe it was just never meant to be with that song. It's not even comparable to D/R/T back in the day.

For anyone who saw a sexy guy with a shaved head and an unmissable blue MOGWAI MR. BEAST sweatshirt, that was me, the champion. I later went into Papa John's.

Also, Isis was good, but because of their layered sound, a giant arena doesn't work well for them. Their music is pretty energetic, and they're better in a smaller venue.

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

6th Tool show - For me, the best yet. Ok, I know Lateralus was incredible, but this show was fucking killer. 10,000 Days was worth $500, but Lateralus??? Dude, that fuckin song blew my fuckin shorts off. I hate to bitch on here, because I am truly a long time die hard fan, and I know it's all about the music, but ....

I was in section 101, Row H, I think it's referred to as the Loge. Anyway, if anyone reading this was near there, I would like to personally ask for your help in a giant "FUCK YOU AND DIE SLOW" to the Hippies tripped out on acid and coke that jumped up and down like a bunch of jerk offs. Maybe I have been lucky up until now with Tool shows, but now I understand what the band meant when they talked about the respect of the crowd once in an interview. If you assholes are reading this, I want to say that I have never seen non-homosexuals acting so gay in my entire life. You are all so lucky the security was watching me like a hawk. Jumping up and down like Hyper little kids to Wings for Mary was enough for me to wish nothing but pain and discomfort on you forever. It was not a slayer concert, and you looked completely gay. We truly thought you were about to make out and just about EVERYONE behind you had such hatred for you by the end of the show I still can't believe you weren't beaten. And can you believe that one of the two biggest assholes in the group caught a stick. By cheating - OF COURSE, and running down 8 rows to grab it - PRICK. GROW UP, and next time you go to see a band that is light years beyond your comprehension, try to fit in with the crowd, BY LISTENING.

Anyway, INCREDIBLE show, Anyone can bitch that they wanted a harder album, but NO ONE can deny, they brought it to a higher level in the end, and tonight, well, tonight was absolutley mind blowing. Unreal that band, truly unreal. It is scary how great they play together.

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

ok, before i say anything about what happened inside, did anybody notice the outside, in the main parkinglot at round 5pm?

thats right, justin and his wife were out for a bike ride...

i saw him and wasnt sure it was him, nobody else noticed him, i saw them ride off, bout 5 minutes later i decided to go for a walk around the coloseum to check out exits and shit. and they rode back, not more then 2 feet from me. i was awe struck, i stoped and just stared at him, he then looked at me knodded and said "hey" as he rode by, i was still awe struck when his wife looked at me and giggled. right after that, he rode to the underground area and went in for soundcheck, i was able to hear stinkfist in soundcheckbefore i was told to wait outside.

so, we are finally inside out seats, and my seat was to the right of the soundboard area. and right before isis comes on, guess whos chillin there. thats right, justin. he was doing some technical work so i didnt want to disturb him, but he got away from his laptop and was just sitting around so i went over and said hello and wished himgood luck, well i tried to, but when i called his name he just turned around, gave me a half asked wave and said "hey" again then turned away, im not too sure if i should be offended or not lol.

isis came on and they were pretty sweet, i might look deaper into them, justin joined them for the last song wich was cool.

as soon as tool came on.i bolted to one of the closer seats lol. there was this 8 foot giant infront of me wich was kinda gay, but was still a better view then when i was all the way in the back.

maynard didnt say much other then "jersey was louder" a couple times, he said something about sex, if i can remember exactly it went something "feel free to have sex,and dont forget to use a condom. there are trash bags on the way out...and remember, its a suggestion, not a law"

and then the super big news, they are coming back in the spring :)

i took a couple pics with my cell phone that ill upload in a bit, if they came out anywhere half way decent..

edit:

oh, i found out from one of the staff members that it was tool's demand to have seats on the floor

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

Just got back home...3 hour drive and i am still in amazement. The Mansfield show had the same setlist but something about this show was different...I still can't believe how much energy was in that place. I met some cool people outside, tailgated for a bit then went inside and got blown away. I still dont even have the right words to describe it yet. Cant say it was the best tool show i've been to, but there was something different about it...

wicked ridiculous

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

another kick ass show! saw them last night in NJ too.. don't take what maynard says personal "___ is louder", he says that at every show.. saw them in camden last week, saw them in city center in may.. each show is a treat in its own way (but i sit in different spots each time).. city center was the worst (though the venue itself was nice) because i sat all the way in the back.. made sure this time to get floor seats.. but that presented its own challenges..

floor seats suck when the damn stage is on the same level as the people in front of you.. no inclined floor + low stage = horrible idea (unless you're allllllll the way in the front).

luckily tonight i DID manage to catch ISIS (though i didn't get to my seat until after the first song ended which sucked cuz that was my fav song by them, "so did we").

i agree, the lasers were phenomenal (but that's cuz i was right underneath them, in the center, section B1, last row 26).. i think lateralus had too much special effects personally, it's an amazing song (second by a small amount only to 46&2 in my opinion).. but the end of lateralus is the most amazing, eyes glued on danny carey's amazingness then.. (anyone seen the video of danny playing the end of laterlus will know.. the gong is the most powerful part of the song for me.. the guy is an ANIMAL!!

the sound was pretty good if you ask me.. i love how penetrating the bass is (i can feel the hair on my arms vibrate right before the show starts).. probably why nothing comes close to live music..

so of all the 4 shows i saw (5/21, 9/28, 10/6, and 10/7), this was the f'in best as far as performance goes.. (though my seats yesterday off the side and elevated were better as far as being able to see).. damn tall people on the floor.. :-\

and like everyone else, i'm bumed they didn't play a diff set list.. play sober, heck play jimmy, play pushit, play third eye, play ticks and leeches for christ sakes (i know it hurts your voice maynard but damn, throw us a bone).. tool kicks ass, so i guess they thought they didn't need to do much more? shame though. woulda made the tour complete to try something new (they changed it up the 2nd day of the city center venue in may).. btw isis is pretty awesome too, made it a point to check out their stuff and i'm really liking the panopticon album (haven't heard the latest one or celestial yet)

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

great show, but floor seats anything past the 10th row is garbage for seeing the actual band, i was very excited to be section C1 but i couldnt see anything unless i stood on the chairs but then the dicks behind me kept complaining, why doesnt everyone just stand on the chairs, i was however hoping every one would sit down when Wings came on, sound is also pretty shitty on the floor, definately not best to be on the floor

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

Dude I was in section C1 Row 12 seats 1-4 on the aisle and I thought the sound fucking kicked ass! The whole show amazed me. That being said my only real basis for comparison was the show at Radio City in '02, which was also quite amazing.

To everyone saying play some old shit; the reason they're playing all new songs on this tour is because this is the tour to support 10,000 days. They will, I'm sure, be playing a great mixture of new and old the next time around.

Be Patient...

Also I fucking love Isis and I thought they sounded great!

Their setlist was:
So Did We
Dulcinea
Backlit
Holy Tears

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

I can't even begin to speak about the amazingness of the show. I was in section 201, row J. Had a full view of the whole stage. I was at Continental as well and had good seats for that (108, row 3) but I was so close to floor level that I couldn't see the lights on the stage. Now that I was a little higher this time around, it added a lot to the show, for me.

Something about this show was better than the night before, but I can't put my finger on it. The crowd was really cool. I wasn't sitting near any idiots and everyone was really into the music.

The sound was loud, but awesome. My ears are still ringing, but it's 100% worth it!! Highlights for me were 46&2, Lateralus, Aenema, and Stinkfist. I think Vicarious was performed better at Continental. They nailed Rosetta Stoned and Jambi both nights.

I could see what I think is Adam's wife (Camella) taking pictures around the stage in front, and also behind the sound board near Maynard during Lateralus and he was posing for her. Very cool.

Adam seemed to walk around the stage more, which was cool. I loved how into it they all got during Aenema.

All in all, best show I've ever seen. Can't wait to see them in the spring!!!

sect 201 row A seats 13-14

I took my 7 month pregnant wife to the show..baby started to kick her hard during lateralus. "I like that song too baby!" I said to the belly. I was the only one in nassau wearing an islander jersey.

Yeah, I took a quick leak during the beginning of 10,000/wings. so what. I didn't see anyone willing to hold a cup for me. especially the guy that posted "anyone who left to piss or buy beer during wings is an asshole." Where's your cup douchebag--HOLD IT STILL!!

excellent show. see you in the spring!

Amen, this was the 10,000 Days tour so it was expected to hear alot off the album. the show was fckin incredible, amazing energy all the way through. highlights were definitly 46 & 2, LK/RS, Wings/10,000 Days, Lateralus, and Aenema. i have no complaints at all, except for the dick security guards who though one of my friends had a camera. all about 13 duschebags who decided to come into my already full row (row E sec 115) and stand there like a bunch of fckin idiots during 46 & 2....check your tics for the right row next time jerk-offs. phenomenal show, i cannot wait for the spring...

I was to the past 3 shows at Hartford, Jersey and nassau last night. I'd like to give a big Thank You to the Security teams working these arenas.

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

Lucky 13.

I admitted to being disenchanted by the last show in Camden and didn't go to the Continental Arena show because of it but the Nassua LI show, in the immortal words of Harry Dunne(to Lloyd Christmas)...TOTALLY REDEEMED YOURSELF!!!! Amazing and not that they weren't always but I was there with three people who never saw them live so I got to live vicariously through them for a while. And the stage was amazing, never saw that before, usually I'm on the ground level. I got a great view of Danny the wonderboy.

I would like to hear the laments in "Rosetta" a bit clearer or perhaps adapted so that Maynard can actually sing them without the overlapping and engineering that occurs on the album. Just a thought.

Spring tour. Unusual that they would keep touring US after fall. They have always finished and we had to wait 4-5 years. But I could be wrong.

Finally, someone gets it right. I agree with everything you said. Every time I read a review of one of the new shows (I've seen 3), I think, "did any of these people see any shows before this tour?" Lateralus tour blew this show out of the water. WFM10KD is average at best. It has a very touching message, and it's nice to see Maynard get so personal, but come on, this one doesn't hold a candle live to D/R/T. I realize that every person on this board will now bash my face into the curb for bashing Wings/Days, but guess what, it's just not that great of a song.

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

Amazing fucking show!!! The energy in that place was un believeable! Tool played tight and incredible as always. Crowd was awesome and seemed really into it !! I have been to tool shows before in NY......cause I'm such a die hard fan......but this experience was the best!! I love the lighters in the crowd after 10,000 days .I loved the laser and images on stage while they played that was cool..which I got see cause I was a bit up....and the backdrop was so good.......I was inscetion 227 and had a great view of the stage and band. Maynard seem into the show lol........the sound was so deafening that is maybe because we got seats right in front of the speakers that were hanging from the ceiling....my ears still feel a bit clogged .......but for Tool is it well worth it

I loved the setlist.....every song rocked!! highlights for me were
1)Wings for marie - 10,000 days- it's more powerful live
2)Jambi - this song sounded great live ( now is one of my fav)
3)Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned- freaking awesome........love this song.....it's an epic
4)Lateralus - everyone went crazy for the song
5) Vicarious - was waiting to hear this one live and they did not disappoint!

it will def be a night I will not forget.........and it was magical and surreal

Isis was also very good for an opening act

thanks Tool for making a night possible ...........see ya in the spring!

ps: it actually turned me back to a little school girl LOL!! Peace Out!

Great show. But I was upset they didnt alter the setlist like they did during the Lateralus tour for the last venue in North America. Maynard was pretty funny tonight, specifically when he was messing with the photographer and during Rosetta Stoned when he was pointing to himself when he was at "And they chose me." and then giving the finger to the audience.

My seats were fucking amazing, 7th row floor, right in the middle. It was awsome as hell being able to see every facial expression on the guys while they were playing, especially Danny.

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

OK, here is my take. This was the second best Tool show of the four that I have seen. The best was the MSG show for the Lateralus tour. That was perfection.

I noticed that Tool focused more on the music and less on the imagery which was nice change of pace. The 7 foot high screens behind the band were subdued enough for fans to enjoy, but not lose sight of the band itself. Maynard's gyrations in front of them was hypnotic at times. The laser show was tremendous and the laser screen of clouds during Wings was truly awesome. I sat in the 108's and the lasers fanned out to maje two traingular screens, when mixed with the smoke gave the imagery of clouds overhead.

I think Rosetta Stoned is a fantastic song, but it comes across vocally much better on the album. The parts that Maynard sings through the bullhorn sound way too muddy and affects the aesthetic of the song. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, I just wish it sounded better. Was 100x better than the city center sound, but still on the muddy side vocally.

I was tremedously disappointed that they placed pretty much a very similar set list as the club tour. Plus, I thought we would get some bonus material, since this was the last US show.

Here is hoping the spring tour will bring a different set list, which it should, since they cahnged the set list on the lateralus tour and the second leg. Peace.

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

5th Tool show...1st of this tour

I must say, I may as well have gone to one of those laser shows where they play music in the background, i.e, Tool, pink floyd etc. and been just as happy...and those don't really make me happy.

The Lateralus tour blew this one away IMO. This shit was a spectacle...I found myself not paying attention to the music at times because of how distracted I was by the Lasers and the absolutely rediculous video stage...this isn't what Tool has ever been about and I don't like it as much.

I go to Tool shows to take in the music because I find the lyrics and music meaningful in my life. If I wanted a crazy video/light show I would have just gone to one with the music in the background.

Besides that, the band wasn't tight. I think Adam played awful, and I would venture to say that Danny was tired or something (it was the last leg of the US tour he may have been). They obviously still prove themselves talented, I don't want to say they played completely shitty, Lateralus was more or less perfect and so was the Pot, Stinkfist and Aenima. Every other song Danny was missing beats and threw Adam off, no joke.

But that brings me to another point. I don't think a lot of people cared or noticed any flubbed playing because of all the shit that was coming from the stage. Jambi is one of my favs of 10,000 days and I find myself having trouble remembering the song because of how distracted I was with the videos that encapsulated the entire stage. Like, WTF?

Every band sells out, right? Hooker with a Penis taught us that. But Tool shows have always been solely about the music and last night it wasn't. They were even repeating video clips from one song to a next which is garbage IMO. I didn't walk out of that show feeling one with the band like I have the past 4 times. Maybe I'd be singing a different tune if I saw them when they were playing smaller venues earlier this year, but that's not the case.

I'd give the concert a 7, and thats just because of how excited I was to finally see them again and potentially expected way too much. But truthfully, if anyone was as fortunate as me to see them at Radio City in 2002, that was a template of a 10. This was no Radio City, Lateralus Tour...it makes me sick that I have to compare but I suppose I'm a little let down.

it seems as though if you saw the lateralus tour, this show wasnt good cause it didnt meet expectations...

however i didnt go to the lateralus tour cause i was like 13 so this show in my opinion was the best show i have ever seen...and ive seen alot of shows.

this was better than continental the night before cause the crowd around me was so cool and even though there were some mistakes in the songs, the music is still amazing

i was c1, row 17

wish they would play some of their older stuff but i really cant complain...show was amazing and i wish the spring would come already

You make a good point. This show is just very different than the old shows. I hate to be the guy that insists that everything in the old days was better (there's always guys like that for every band), but for Tool, I think it's actually true. Maynard seems to treat the music completely differently. For instance, I doubt anyone ever saw Maynard act like he was riding a bull during a Lateralus show. He used to be into the music. He used to be into the message. He now seems to act like it is all a big joke.

I still love this band and will still see them everytime they come anywhere close to me. However, I'm kind of holding on to things I saw in the past. That's why this show is worth $80. I've seen this band absolutely tear a hole in the audiences' ass. I just haven't seen it lately.

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

Excellent show, isis was pretty great too , the only disappointing thing was that the 19th row floor seats i got weren’t all they were cracked up to be ( obstructed view , security randomly checking tickets/stopping people from smoking in our row every 5 or so minutes ) , so much to that point where i completely dont remember jambi, THAT would have ruined the show for me had i not bought other tickets that were a bit higher but closer to the stage , with a better view( i could actually see the band and the visuals ,lol).

i dont see how its necessary to stand when you have floor tickets , but whatever.
I only watched jambi and schism from the floor then i left that seat empty for the rest of the show ( my girlfriend saw stinkfist and the pot from there).

anyhow , rosetta stoned is without a doubt an amazing live song , he was spot on , as a matter of fact he was near perfect the entire evening.

No new additional songs, but hey , they’ll be back in the spring , i agree the tour felt less intimate and more overwhelming than anything ( the crowd was awesome , everyone was either rocking out or singing along), that was one of the greatest nights AND i finally got my girlfriend to listen to tool for 2 hours straight!

BTW did anyone notice those guys in the parking lot selling bootleg tool tour shirts for 20$?

now be honest , which one of you bastards bought one? huh? HUH!?

Re: 2006/10/07 - Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum

Ok so my fifth show on this tour (first tour I've seen them, I know the Lat tour and all its greatness but I console myself by knowing my mind was not yet ready then). So anyway I was at the tower, city center, camden, the meadowlands and tonight's.
Each was great for its own reasons. The wall of sound at the tower, the awesomeness of danny coming stragiht at me from the middle of the city center, in spite of the horrible horrible people in camden Aenima in the rain was just too fucking cool for words not to mention the sound on the lawn being a million times better than I expected, best view for the meadowlands from 109 got to see every little thing happening on stage.
But there was just something very different and undescribable about tonight. The energy seemed to be at just a totally different level. Probably the the best sounding out of all the show(section 214 row H the mix seemed just right). The best crowd of all the shows, everyone seemed to be so much more into than any other show. Extra animated maynard even. But still that wasn't it, there just seemed to be someting in the air that my senses just aren't adiquate to describe. So I thought after a little sleep I thought I might be able to put it in words but still can't, hell my entire body still has that hum and I know most of you know what I'm talking about.
So yea WICKED RETAAAADED to that duded in section 5 of the parking lot. The people rocking the D after the show, too fucking cool, just the perfect end to a damn near perfect night. And the best thing to come out of Maynard's mouth all night was "see you in the spring." Can't wait and hope to see all of you beautiful people there again. So till then peace, the fuck, OUT.
