Yeah i learnt how to sing like that when James Blunt released you're beautiful.
Seriously though Maynard sounds like he put a lot of effort into the vocals on this track, i think thats why i really like this song. Even though i disliked it originally.

Give me another couple of days off the smokes so my vocal chords can recover and I'll give it a shot.

Owwww. I give you some serious kudos for going onto the Tool site and attempting to sound like Maynard, but I still have to say I'm glad you don't sing for Tool.

are you guys joking. THere is mad effects on maynards voice in that intro. For starters low in the mix is his voice repeating the same words at a different time and also a resonant filter mixed in with his real vocals

why are u guys saying that only james blunt can do it? Personally, I dont think he can do it like Maynard, maybe he will be close to, but his voice doesnt have the power of Maynard.
Havent you heard to Cedric Bixler? (mars volta singer) Im sure he can really sing the whole song so much close to nard.

My band actually covered this song on 4/29, which (unless you count the private rehearsal) is BEFORE Tool had a chance to play it live.
And I sang the intro quite well, or at least, those who heard it said they thought so.
I think I was flat, but the monitor mix wasn't great either....
