Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

You guys are getting me worried about D/R/T. I really hope they play it Reflection is my all time fav and disposition is too beautiful. Triad rocks my socks as well.and while we're on the subject, I'm sorry but I love schism. I've heard it at every show I've been to but I'll hear it again. Switching it with Parabol/a is a good idea but I doubt that. It seems like a major strain on mjk's voice. maybe toss out stinkfist. scratch that def. toss out stinkfist.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

Why do I have an odd feeling that they're going to be playing Flood on this tour?

My pleasure! And yea, the review threads were usually unlocked just before they took the stage. So I was able to use my Blackberry to post songs as they happened. I even got a post in when they debuted Pushit at the start of the second half of the tour. Good times, good times. Hm- man, what I wouldn't give for another show at the Pearl.

I felt that way about The Grudge for a long time after hearing it so many times that tour..

It may be sacrilege around here but I could do without 46 & 2 this time around..

Believe it or not, as we sit here in Denver the night before we load the show in to "Dick's Sporting Goods Park" (we are loading in a day early so we can make sure everything is what we think it is), we still don't have a "this is the setlist" setlist.
There are a few different paths in the chutes and we just need to see which one is chosen, or at least which one is closest to the final solution. This really isn't unusual in Tool world, and most of us have learned to go with it. The world won't end for us in the tech neighborhood if they throw in an audible. It might even make it a bit more energetic because we have to think faster. If we figure out the actual setlist an hour before doors open we should still be able to have a good show. Any later than that is still doable, but it does start to get a bit frantic.
Our day will start at 10am Friday (8:30am if you count the time we are leaving the hotel), and with any luck we will know (almost) exactly what we will be doing Saturday night by the time we leave on Friday night/Saturday morning. I've got some 5-Hour Energy in my computer bag in case it goes long.
It's getting close to midnight here in Denver, so I've probably got to get to sleep soon.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

and incredibly random; but I haven't been to these boards in quite some years. i lost my login info, and had promised I would post setlist pics back in 2006 (yes...!) of the two Los Angeles shows in September, (debut of wings). that thread is now locked, so sorry to pollute this one, but in case anyone cares, 3 years late, but better than never.

Summer tour poster for sale in the toolband shop. You can find it in the 'stickers and more' section.

Open this in a new window since it'll reshape your browser as a popup: http://www.toolband.com/catalog/popup_image.php?pID=204

Is it just me, or does the latest -16 July, 2009 (12:48pm)- toolband post asking for money/volunteers for the building of a "Tool Shrine" by Cosm seem a little cheesy?

I believe the COSM projects are nonprofit, and do not make enough money to stand on their own. I volunteer for a gallery in downtown Knoxville that relies heavily on donations - its a worthwhile endeavor for innovative conveyors of quality art.

I'm all for supporting non-profit organizations and promoting the arts, I just don't know if I like the idea of a "Tool Shrine."

It should be noted that I'm probably just getting old and cynical.

No, I completely agree that it is a pretty stupid idea. There is no super distinction between Alex's work with Tool and his regular artwork. There is no need to make the distinction and have a separate 'shrine' for Tool. It's simply a marketing ploy as most of his fans probably know him from Tool and would be more inclined to visit a museum if they think they are participating in the 'Tool Culture'.

It will bring people into CoSM, surely, but it doesn't increase my desires to visit any.

Looks good to me but something tells me that a Jacko cover is a little over the top. I believe Junior mentioned and "obscure" cover.

Considering MJ's trouble with potential molestation and MJK's public comments about his own stepdad...not sure if I see that coming together.

But a good stab at it none the less...

It will bring people into CoSM, surely, but it doesn't increase my desires to visit any.
I agree, we all know Alex's work and that he works with Adam on certain projects, and the meta-physical shit is pretty sweet. So if I was in NYC I'd probably stop in, check out his work, and leave a donation. Period. Sure, I was introduced to his art by TOOL, but I don't need to be spoon fed. I just enjoy it for what it is.
The whole "Shrine" dedicated to a particular artist does sound a little to close to a marketing ploy, and I hate to say it, but something that Michael Jackson fans would flock to.

You guys are using some of the same lights the Iron Man 2 production is using? Interesting.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

My main concern is wondering how I'm going to resist looking at the setlists prior to the CA show. I haven't been "surprised" at a TOOL show in a while. (Saw 6 10k Days shows) Well, Flood in SF definitely made me feel elated when it actually occurred, but shit...I think I'm really gonna try to resist. I'll keep posted on how long I hold out! Stoked for the as-of-yet-to-be-known covers. Melvins Revolve would kill it!! But really, anything they choose will be shed in a new light and "work" like only they can make it. I love that shit. No matter how random it seems it will make some kind of "sense". (Try explaining how TOOL made a Dead Kennedys cover mesh so well with their music?) Getting a little deep here--bring on the fuckin covers! Good luck gentlemen!

No doubt. Send me a PM and we'll hook it up. I will be leaving for the show tomorrow morning and won't be back in NM until the day of the show, wednesday in the afternoon.
