Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
i asked this on the bonnaroo thread but i wasnt sure people would see it but i was wondering since tom morello was playing at bonnaroo would there be a chance that he came out and played wtih Tool? Also i know Tool plays a lesser set list for festivals but i think since maynard is all about the positive message maybe they would have a change of heart at bonnaroo? just throwing some stuff out there and i wanna hear what everyone thinks about it

generally at a festival each performer is given a specific amount of time to play to allow all bands to be able to paly

That's why I doubt he will join them on stage. As far as the festivals go, here's part of an interview with DC (on AMT):
It's this whole different vibe when you play at a festival," he said. "People have already had to go
through so much, you know, especially if you're headlining. By the
time you're on, you know, you don't wanna just drive them into the
ground, you know. I think in those cases less is more, so we're happy
just to play more rocking, straight ahead songs and not get too
tedious 'cause it's not that kind of an environment. We'll save that
for our own shows."

I think it's a glue-on hawk. He had it on last night in Memphis. Looks great. Then when you're done with it put it away until you need it again. That's the new millennium way.

Last night the lights went off at 7:30 for Kinski and TOOL was on at 8:35 and off at 10:35. Just over three hours. But it takes a good half hour to get in any venue. Security is tough.

If you look at the way they toured for the Lateralus tours you will notice that Tool is kind of touring the same way fror the 10,000 Days tours and if that is correct then I bet The Northwest will get Tool in the Fall or early winter. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

I am disappointed in the "half tour" here in North America. The NW gets no love. I guess at least they still haven't scheduled anything for my birthday yet, so maybe it'll be a surprise part-ay for me with the boys being the main attraction.

Very good point. I just looked up the Fall 2002 tour and they didn't make it up here until September 30th so I guess I wont have to call the waahmbulance after all. That is...at least until they post the fall tour dates. :)

They're cool. I like the second leg tour shirts better than the first one. The only exception might be the zipper hoody. I like the 10,000 Days face on the front of the first leg hoody better than the new one.

You'd be much better off trying online right at 10am, plus calling the box office - 732.203.2500. Shouldn't be a problem.
EDIT - Don't forget to create (and/or) login to your ticketmaster account prior to 10am so you don't get screwed by the "two minute" rule.

Called - They said it will be available through live nation & ticketmaster. Nothing on Ticketmaster as of yet

Does anyone know what time I should arrive at the venue if I wanna check out the sound check? It's probably different at each venue but anyone who has watched the sound check give me some info on what time you got there and anything else that would be relevant. Thanks!

I am with you on this one. I am planning on getting to the Boardwalk Hall REAAAAAAAALLY early on June 9th, showtime is at 8, so I guess I will be there by 3 or 4.

They usually do their soundcheck around 4pm - but don't expect to be able to get in to see it. Security is usually pretty tight, best bet is to linger around back of the venue and find a cool security guard who doesn't mind letting you listen from the outside.

pnc bank ticks are on sale now...no announcement from tool that there was a show...didnt find out until now that they have been on sale for couple hours...kinda disappointed
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Yeah, I just found out too and got some assy 400 section seats which is cool by me because I'll be on the floors in Hamilton. Why the hell haven't they announced it OR put it in the tour journal on the site? Maybe it'll be a special show or some shit.

Keep checking, they had some 303 (dead center) seats available a minute ago.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
If you have seen TOOL perform before, what would you say is your favorite song that you have seen them perform?
Mine would be AENEMA on the 2001 LATERALUS tour. This is the song that made me fall in love with their music. Seeing this song in concert was such an amazing experience. Before AENEMA, I had never heard of TOOL. This was my first TOOL concert. It was awesome. I wish that the guys in TOOL could know what it is like to be a fan of TOOL and to be in the audience at a TOOL concert. Their minds would most likely be blown away.

I was in Oakland Ca. at Paramount theater in May of 06. This was exactly two days after the release of 10k days. They opened with lost keys and rosetta stoned. At the time my brother and I both looked at eachother with a WTF? look on our faces and I thought "come on boys, this is nothing but noise". After listening to the cd non stop until the Fresno show in August 06, and begining to understand the song, I soon came to the conclusion that this is one bad ass song . From Fresno 06 to Oakland in Sep. 06 to both San Diego shows in may 07 RS absolutely blew my fucking mind hands down. The best part is, my wife saw them for the first and second times in SD and after the shows all she could talk about was "that alien song"! Rosetta Stoned live......absolutely FUCKING AMAZING!

Sort of... I took my girlfriend to a Nails show in '06 and we were on the rail. She'd been on the rail before but it was at a Garbage show (Garbage crowd= WAY more docile than NIN crowd). She was squashed, crushed, smothered, dehydrated, and even got kicked in the head by Aaron North... and she absolutely loved it!! We talk about that show ALL THE DAMN TIME! Think of this as a test: if she passes the Tool test, then she's a keeper for sure ;-) or sumpthin like that
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
There's an infinitely large chance (certainty) that this question has been asked [insert random multiple of 100 here] times, on this thread and probably every other show-specific upcoming show thread, but I unfortunately don't have the time or the attention span to sort through thousands of posts, so I'll ask it here and likely get verbally chastised but what the hell, here it is: ROUGHLY HOW EARLY DO YOU NEED TO PLAN ON GETTING TO A GENERAL ADMISSION FLOOR SHOW TO SECURE A SPOT ON THE BARRICADE ie. the very front? I know at the GA NIN shows I've attended it usually took getting there about 8-10 hours early. Just wondering if the Tool crowd (which I'd be willing to bet is more or less 95% NIN fans) was as hardcore/die hard/nutso about getting a rail spot as the NIN crowd. Commence end rambling........ NOW

I've actually never dated anyone that didn't like TOOL, but one show I went to my sister and her boyfriend came along. He was a TOOL fan....she definitely was not. She actually said she was a little scared beforehand. She's still not a TOOL fan, but she really enjoyed the show in large part due to all the visuals. If your girl is a fan of art she'll probably enjoy it for the same reasons. Just make sure to bring ear plugs for her since the sound level may be too intense for a non-fan.

If you are a fan of TOOL, no matter what they play, I feel you will not be disappointed. TOOL have been playing very well on this tour. The show is fucking awesome. Enjoy the show!
