Here's my review of the gig on the Musicmeter site, in Dutch:

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

Well, it was great. After Metropool, University of Enschede and Paradiso this was again a beautiful concert. In my opinion there's no other band that does the things Tool do. Creating an atmosphere arround it. Few albums in a long time. No support band. Just the music & visuals. No ego's and stay "foggy". I like!

The first time i saw them in Hengelo and that was a great first time!
The second was Enschede and that was a good one, but no good venue.
The third was everything: fantastic show, sound, venue. My number one of gigs i visited was Tool in Paradiso!

I missed a couple of Tool-shows because it was on "Hemelvaartsdag" and then i got my own festival.

This one in HMH was very good. First time i saw the figure MJK in the back. Great!

See you in November. Where?

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

Wow, the show was great! It was my first Tool show and I expected a lot from this show and they haven't let me down! The whole performance, the vocals, the sound and even the visuals that fit so perfectly with the music were absolutely amazing. Maynard even showed some of his dance moves. Luckily I was able to smuggle in my camera, so I have some filmclips (13!) of the concert. Perhaps I'll put them on youtube.

Downside for me was that I was standing like row 8 and I'm like maynardish tall (5.7 ft), so I was staring at the back of people's heads most of the time, sniffing up the smell of sweaty armpits......no fun...or maybe it's because Dutch people are just crazy tall.

And yes, Maynard said something about coming back in November!

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

TOOL rocked yesterday! Had the time of my life. My fourth TOOL show, best show till now. Although the beer in this "beer mekka" was not that good, it floats like water in a river.

Great sound, I believe that the effects on the clean parts of rossetta stoned were missing. The rest knocked me out!

Nice set, although the same songs as before. We don't care, we like 'm!

See yah in November!

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

This was my 6th time Tool and this felt a tiny bit as a 'routine show' ...but I guess thats just personal to anyone. to me it was Maynard really, for example ive seen Maynard with APC in 013 Tilburg and his voice went right through my soul. Yesterday he didn't seem really into it all the time. Although the screams were impressive, i've hear him sing with much more soul and passion at previous Tool and APC shows.

Anyways it was worth it because it stays incredibly fascinating to see 4 musicians who play such amazingly complex music and who make it look that easy.

p.s. Danny has four arms, i'm not kiddin.

I confirm this when I watched him with mouth open on Right In Two

And please Dutchies & non-Dutch people who were at the show:
ignore people who were not at the show. Dat zijn toch kneusjes met berichten waarvan de inhoud tamelijk nihil is.

Did you see him picking up that massive stick to hit his GONG at the climax of Lateralus? Holy fucking shit indeed.

Good summary of the concert. I thoroughly enjoyed it!! Sound was excellent and the performance was outstanding. A very curieus to what the " November" remark was referring to!

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

Best concert I've ever been to.

We got there 4 hours early, and we were right up against the barrier in the front, just in front of Danny.

I was just blown away by everyone, I couldn't help but just stare in awe at Danny for pretty much the whole gig.

The sound was great, Danny's drums sounded awesome, Justin's bass was just perfect, Adam's guitar was great, and Maynard's voice was just perfect.

Roll on November :D

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

the show was great. Although the pinkpop gig earlier this month was better. Not sure why though, they played flawlessly, just like during Pinkpop. I think it had to do with the atmosphere during the concert. At the Pinkpop concert the crowd seemed more relaxed, more outgoing. Still better than most other concerts I've been to though.

And of course I'm looking forward to the November concert already. That was a nice surprise.

I loved Maynard's subtle little sexy dance to Lateralus.

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

As everyone above allready set...the show was amazing. For me too...excelent.

I actually have one question: Does anyone know what (song) those heavy punding baselines were, just about 10 minutes for the show began? They almost crushed my chest...really cool. It sounds like some chillout or trance music...

Does anyone know what I mean?

Yes, that was Kraftwerk with "Vitamin" from their album "Tour de France".
It surprised me, because before that there was only some strange Jazz-music and then suddenly this... I absolutely love Kraftwerk! I fact, I saw them in the same HMH about 2 years ago.

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

I thought it was a awsome show!!
After Pinkpop, it was more intence.. well maybe it was because we were right at the front. after pinkpop was "right in two" the best at this concert i think.. even "jambi" was very close :)

there wera 2 photographers, one from "oor.nl" and one from "aardschock"
so some kind of revieuw will be there..
http://www.oor.nl/deruit_concertvers...ils.asp?id=304
http://aardschok.com/ ..maybe there will come some here,, of in the paper of juli?

I was only a bit pissed i didnt even may take 1 photograph.. i have that from all my shows.. exect this one ... :(
But beside that, it was great! :) ..also got a mega-poster for my new room ^^

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

It was a great show. For some reason, I think the pinkpop show was better, more overwhelming, but at the hmh I actually had the chance to watch everything and really enjoy the music...which was great as well.

I made a few sneaky pics and films..the first film (piece of rosetta stoned) is the best, because those security guys didn't notice my cam at first =)
Anyway, I'll put those pics and stuff online as soon as I get acces on my other computer.

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

Great show, good sound (not in the beginning, but later on it was OK), but the predictable setlist (if they don't play The Pot, they play Right in two, the "old" songs are equal every show). That's a pity. I hope, when they get back in november, they play some new old songs. Cheers!

Re: 2006/06/27 - Amsterdam, NLD - HMH

Can't find my first post on this topic back?! Anyways... The Show was great!! Liked the playlist!! The visuals were as good as I hoped before seeing Tool. Maynard's voice was very good live.. Only standing infront of the stage got me a little bit deaf . It was my first big Tool show... I really waited so long for it.... It was all worth it...

Now after seeing Tool again at Rock Werchter Belgium I can say it's really still 'the band' for me.... Maybe they're coming back in November... Hell Yeah!!!

Very few mistakes in the music while playing. Better than Toronto.

Damn. you Dutch crowds are quiet hahahahahah... wow, Toronto crowd was louder than the band.
I remember at the end of Right in Two, I thought nobody was going to clap as it was slowing down, I was like, the only one and felt out of place and alone.

Great show. Set again could have been longer, but they'll be back.
The crowd was awfull quiet indeed. Must different from the RockWerchter Crowd thursday....
