'cd packaging'? what the hell? Sorry, i've just never heard that award before. If Tool wins anything that'd be awesome.

Its just a grammy... I really don't think they need an award to tell them their cd looks cool or their music sounds great. Although it would be nice for them to get some recognition.

The best thing that could come out of this is more references to Satan at the Grammy's.

Haha I keep thinking about what they will say at this one.

I'm sure they'll win, they haven't gone an album without a grammy. As much as that award is bullshit, it gives artists bragging rights.

I know it is commercial crap but it is still COOL!

"Vicarious" has been nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance (LOL) and Adam has been nominated as best art director for Best Recording Package for the album "10,000 Days."

I think this is great. Vicarious is worthy of any acclaim. Honestly, listen to it again.

And we all know that the moment the guy at the cd shop handed us that little book that is was magical. I give it to my students to look at and they say "Oh yeah ...cool" and I go "NO, have another look" and then they go "FUCK, holy shit !!! That is awesome" and I say "OK, good, its Caitlyn's turn". Very very cool.

Good work Tool. Congratulations. I know you can survive without the acclaim of your peers but it must be nice to get some praise.... now and again.

They've won it before, I'm sure they'll lose this year, as Audioslave will probably get nominated and win.

Audioslave wasn't nominated.

The nominees are.... (always wanted to say that):

Crazy Bitch - Buckcherry
Every Day Is Exactly The Same - Nine Inch Nails
Lonely Day - System of a Down
Vicarious - Tool
Woman - Wolfmother

NIN wins...Reznor's done it twice (I think, maybe more) before this, so I wouldn't be surprised if he or SOAD gets it.

Tool has a chance, though...

I've heard this before, but never confirmed -

Grammy nominations and ultimately awards are solely based on record sales. The judges don't actually judge anything. If you win it's because you sold the most records, not because you made the "best" music.

Can anyone confirm this?

I don't think so - I think the panel (academy) votes and the band with the most votes wins. Bit like the academy awards.

Stuff like American Music Awards are all sales, they smile and say "the fans pick the winners."

As far as NIN, I'd be shocked. NIN is my third favorite band, but With Teeth is mediocre and EDIETS is a real yawner. The academy types may be turned off by the raunchyness of Crazy Bitch. Tool stands a great chance

LOL – More sarcasm!!!!

ANYWAY: (FYI) The 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on "GRAMMY Sunday," Feb. 11, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

I do not know what that means to people NOT residing in LA!

PS Thanks for the tip Iota - master of nests!!! Hope you are working on your own.
