T.V as a companion , the knowledge that this is an unhealthy relationship. I can here that line coming from an abused spouse ,being coersed ino taking back the abuser.

to me it is a great sign of loyalty and patience by the loved one, who relates to the desensetizing issue offering herself as an instrument to give inner peace to the lover. she grants the lover his wish in hope that he'll actually feel something this time! this is all imo, tho.

All meaning aside, this part of the song was probably the one thing that got me into Tool. Not really the lyrics, but the way this part and all of the verses are sung; so soft and innocent, and then the powerful chorus. I probably played this song 3 more times after I heard it first, and it made me a Tool fan for life.

I hear the different perspectives changing up in the chorus, "not enough..." to "to breath, to feel, to know im alive" is the one recieving stimulation,
and "finger deep..." through "turn around and take my hand" is the giver

Yeah I hear that too actually. I feel like the song is being sung through two different sides of it. That was a shitty sentence but I'm tired.

It's more related to addiction "decensitizing everything" comes from going over the edge... "Show me that you love me" being the addict asking the addiction to show that they "belong together".

I agree, it's so incredible - it's so sad - you can really hear the pain in the song.

No doubt this song was the one song that played over and over on my comp and cd player the first time I heard it. Totally a Tool Junkie for life after listening to that piece of art. Just a brilliant song.

When I first hear this song, I found it a little scary ( I mean, the obvious reference to sex is in there) and it seemed to me like a trust-thing, "This might hurt a little, but It's something you'll get used to." Although I never thought about addiction until I read this topic. Personally, I always thought this song was about gay lovers. Of course, I could be right....Heh.
