So if one were to go to this fest, and one wanted to watch shows without being crushed or at least packed in like a sardine, how close to the stage would said person be?

if I'm correct, Roksilde uses the Cross-barriers like other big festivals since the tradegy of 2000. That means that if you come early and want to see a particular band as close as possible, you get in the front area through an entrance that the security people can close off when that area is comfortably full (as in; people still have decent space to move around). Behind that gate , there is the big mass of people.

(I'm not 100% sure if this works for Roskilde, but it works for a lot of major European festivals were I've been to.)

Well, I'm going to be in Europe (alone...my friends are losers....or maybe nonexistent..whatever), so I guess I'll stop in and check it out... was excited about Roger Waters at Roskilde until I saw his soul had been sold to Ticketmaster on an American Express card...anybody else see that bullshit???

small chance i guess; Tool played right after Deftones at the Werchter festival in Belgium 2001 and they didn''t use the opportunity then, plus I saw APC opening up for Deftones in 2003 and again, no Passenger...

Yeah, gonna be my first time at Roskilde too...I wasn't too keen on the whole camping in the woods for a week idea, but once I saw the lineup it was hard to resist..
fuckin Bob dylan, roger waters, tool, deftones, opeth...hell yes. I wish they'd announce the damn timetable soon!

I hear ya man...I'm going to see them for the FIRST time in about 2 weeks' time at Rock im Park..and then 3 days later up at Hamburg and then watch em headline the mighty Roskilde festival...My guess is that they might be headlining the Arena stage on Saturday night (1 July)

Roskilde Festival is a fantastic festival!!! Tool will play Orange Stage saturday night(capasity 70 000) The line up is awesome!!! I will see TOOL at Rock am Ring, Hamburg, Berlin, Roskilde and Quart !!! Amazing!!

It's gonna be my first roskilde experience...bought a GetATent ticket also...and it came in the mail today (along with my tool hamburg ticket)...SCORE!
Guess I should start arranging some gear..i.e. duct tape and sleeping bag etc

Roskilde is by far the best festival in the world!! TOOL will play Orange stage(inside information). They also played that stage in 2001, amazing show!!!!
The Arena is a 20000 capacity venue, that`s to small for TOOL in a large festival as Roskilde. Expect 115 000 persons this year( 80 000 paying) at Roskilde. The timetable is normally ready around june 15 for Roskilde festival, 160 bands playing, so i`ts a puzzle.
Rock Am Ring should be finished soon, i`ts only a week now....
Gent a tent first looked like a good idea to me, but when i got all the information i would never use it(i`m sorry to say) The Get a tent camp is 7 km away from rest of the camping. I`ve been to Roskilde for 6 years, and the partys in the camping area is a very very important factor for this great festival. So i say, burn your " get a tent" and come party with the rest of Roskilde Festival!!!

Last time Tool played Roskilde, Maynard did appear at the Deftones show to perform Passenger.
Maynard was not introduced by name, Chino said something along the lines of "Joining us now... (memory failure)... Keeping it real... (memory failure)...", after which Maynard (dressed in some sort of hip-hop outfit) did his standard "Hep. Hep. Hep!" mic check. Then they played.
This was during the day, and it was a perfect primer for Tool (who played at night).
I also spotted Adam in the crowd before the Deftones show.
Obviously there aren't any guarantees that this will happen this year, especially since it seems to be a rare occurance even when the two bands play the same date...
I wonder if there is a bootleg of the Deftones show floating around somewhere... Any Deftones fans around here that knows?

I see though a chance for Passenger at Roskilde 2006. They are playing the same day and at Roskilde 2001 they DID IT!!

Fingers and toes crossed that they will....Deftones is playing the same day as Tool this weekend at Rock-am-Ring/Rock-im-Park...again, fingers crossed.
They played Passenger at Super Bock in Portugal, but not with maynard..

Roskilde almost sold out!! I've heard (maybe here, cant recall) that theyre selling 30% more than previous years meaning up to 130.000 festival quests!!! Those who are planning to go should buy a ticket now...
