Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
i wish tool would do the whole nin presale thing where ur name has to be on the ticket and show id to pick them up at the venue and get good seats not some cocksucker on the otherside of the country raping you for a ticket that 150bucks over face value to a show they had absolutely no intention of goin to. I paid 500bucks for two tix first time i seen tool and 120each the second time. The third time there was no ticketmaster the venue sold the tickets and that was it so not half as much scalping and I got good seats at face value.

Ours seems to be stout and porter-styles. For some reason they just come out real well (That or they hide minor fuck-up's better). All of our lagers have come out excellent except for a pilsner (I think the hop bag meant 7.8 and not 2.8 IBU's...you can imagine). For some reason nailing a simple West Coast ale is a problem. The yeast isn't flocculant, doesn't carb well, chill haze, cold crashing takes out too much yeast in solution, etc. Really a bizarre problem...Look at us, talking about homebrew on Tool boards haha

Tool will be playing Dallas on Saturday, July 25th at the Nokia Theatre. I went to 102.1 The Edge's Edgefest yesterday and they were running an ad on the screens on either side of the stage and also announced it between bands at one point. Tickets go on sale at 10 am on May 15th.
Here is a picture of the ad they were running for proof: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46...r/IMG_0250.jpg

Nice. I'll be gunning for Tickets on Friday morning on the fastest connection I can use. Hopefully it'll be enough to get within the 100 sections.

I guess it's not set in stone, but the Lolla message boards have TOOL playing Saturday w/the Beastie Boys, based on the touring schedules of the 6 main headliners (2 each night over 3 nights). And the Xcel Center show (St. Paul) was listed on the 93x website as Aug. 9 for about 24 hours, then in switched to 8/?.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
So I just recieved an e-mail from AEG Live containing a list of upcoming events which lists Tool on July 25th at the Nokia in Dallas. I guess this is pretty much confirmed by everyone except for the band.

From Fourtheye:
Blair posted the April Newsletter today, which was pretty short and confirms four tour dates - the three festivals and Salt Lake City. He mentions that he will be posting other info on Toolarmy for a change. So far only one post I can find, which suggests he knows the dates for the summer tour, and that there are no LA dates at this stage. LA fans need not freak out as he mentioned a possible “SoCal venue (a bit off the beaten track)”.
Off the beaten track from LA? My vote would be the ampi at Glen Helen (it used to be Blockbuster,) I don't think San Diego can be considered "off the beaten track" ....

It's weird because AEG is promoted on Nokia Dallas' website, but they still sell their tickets through Ticketmaster. I don't know if at some point AEG and Ticketmaster have started working together or what. Maybe they always have, I can't remember.

I saw the 93x website had the Minnesota date on their concert calendar as 8/09, which I believe was meant to be interpreted as August 2009. At that time they posted that it would be early August, but they weren't more specific than that.
I hope to hell they don't play Lolla on the 8th. My sister is getting married that day, and I don't want her to hate me!

Question for you SLC folks. I just talked to my Mormon buddy from SLC and he was crushed to hear that Tool was playing on a Sunday. That's something he can't do. And I checked at TM and there are still plenty of good tickets. I'm assuming these two are related?
Btw- even with a few gaping plot holes, the new Star Trek kicks major ass

from blair at toolband "Dallas show is confirmed. Tickets will be on-sale this... Friday. One of the best Tool shows ever will be on JULY 25... at the NOKIA THEATER at GRAND PRAIRIE. And being that it's such a big state... who knows... maybe more. "

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
what happened to announcing a tour altogether rather than one...date...at...a...time? i really don't know what to make of this strategy, though it is rather improvisational

I'm sure Tool is not responsible for the announced dates - there are other interested parties that demand a certain amount of time to promote the show...
Certainly Tool understands this, and is defaulting to the needs of certain promoters. Otherwise, if these shows were confirmed months ago, the dates might have all been revealed together...
