How does banning work?

I was wondering out of sheer curiousity how banning works - that is, is there anything preventing a banned member from simply creating a new identity and continuing to reak havoc. thank you.

Re: How does banning work?

after a few aliases, they ban the ip addresses.

of course you can use a proxy server to get around that.

and they've disabled registrations here anyway.

Re: How does banning work?

Well - heres an update; People cant register with free email adresses anymore, which means you cant have 60 aliases. So that means you have to get an email which you have to pay for before joining the T.D.N.

I think this rule sucks because there are alot of Tool fans and beginners that could bring some interesting stuff down here. But yeah - it's dan's world... not mine.

Re: How does banning work?

i've used gmail, but it's not really a good example because of the whole invite thing.

that...and they don't allow pop3.

Anyways. People can re-register, but usually, the people that would do so, have a few friends here. People figure shit out, who's who gets up to the top, and they end up getting banned again. Usually.
