A Message From Blair:

"SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES... AGAIN
Having recently attended the 'dress rehearsal' for TOOL's US Summer/Fall ARENA TOUR, I can tell you that all (well, most) of those things you've been e-mailing about and posting on message boards are coming, namely a bigger stage production and different set lists. What I saw was impressive to say the least (and with these guys, that's all I can say at this point), but the new show should be unveiled soon (and for now we'll just have to leave it at that) - with things better suited to the bigger concert halls."

That Blair message made my fucking day. I was a annoyed (like many rightfully were) when I saw the SD and Fresno show had the same setlists as the 'warm up' shows, and I am thrilled that we'll get to see Tool doing what they do best: putting on epic performances.

I just hope this occurs in time for my show, but I am thinking they're going all out after Japan.

And I'm sure we'll see the change as soon as Isis joins the tour.

So, according to Blair's post, Tool's not coming to the southeast because of regional stereotypes? Whoever made that decision, I'm giving you the finger as hard as I can.

I support this band as much as I possibly can and they don't have the decency to come within any reasonable driving distance of me?

It's a "US" tour, is it not? How can you say "I toured the US" and not visit any state in the southeast?

Oh well, that's $300 I get to spend on more important stuff... Budweiser.. NASCAR can coozies... a new baseball bat to beat my wife with... super-enormous print bibles... oh, and chickens.

I'm sure I had plans to go hunting or mud-bogging on the day they would come anyway. We toothless, illiterate, inbred rednecks have to have our priorities, you know.

Hahaha... I think you need to simma down now. The stereotype response was more than likely just to fuck w/ people (b/c that seems to be thier favorite pasttime). Do you recall last hurricane season? And have you noticed how fuckin hot its been in the southeast lately? I think those things are the actual reasons for no southeastern dates. So take a roadtrip and see them elsewhere (which is what I will be doing) or be patient and wait for the 07 tour.

Yes Blair's just trying to be funny. I'm sure they'll be around in early '07.

You do realize the tour schedule would put the band in the southeast during October, which is generally not the sweltering heat we experience in, say, August. Also, aren't they playing indoor arenas?

When's grape harvesting season at Vineyard duMaynard? I'd see that as a more likely reason than the band being scared of hurricanes or the heat.

I'm just extremely miffed that I don't get to see this leg of the tour. The first leg of the Lateralus tour was very different than the second. Seeing how the setlist, band, and stage evolved from one leg to the next was very cool. I don't get that without some major sacrifices. If I were still in college, I'd certainly go see them in DC. At this point in my life, a 4hr roadtrip just isn't in the cards.

Not judging you or anything, but 4 hours is hardly what I call a roadtrip

Things change a bit when you get out of school and aren't 18 anymore. I'm fortunate to still have some flexibility at work, so I've been able to travel to see lots of TOOL shows this year, but not everyone can dedicate that much time to go see a show. Driving 4 hours away, especially on a weekday, is just impossible sometimes.

Damn, that is a lot...all of a sudden my 5 hour flight to Vegas doesn't seem too bad after all. Then you also have to add hotel/meal/miscellaneous expenses too...its not like i can fly back after the show..Thanx for "forgetting" Florida on this leg!!
13 more days to go!!

Yeah Ticketmaster figures there's no way to beat the scalpers, so they'll just join them.

Dude, I lived in Anchorage for nine years. I know exactly what you mean. Normally, you don't get much at Sullivan arena.

Surprisingly, Tool did go through Anchorage in September '02 during the Lateralus tour.

You guys have no idea. Scalping is fucking legal in Utah. Thats some shit. The most strict state in the US, and we are allowed and almost encouraged to scalp. It makes me Sick.

theres always scalping and shit, but its fucking ticketmaster doing it now. how can the only company selling the tickets, be able to set aside the tickets they are the only ones selling to make more money later with a fucking auction that starts at 100 bucks. that should be illegal every where, especially since ticketmaster is a monopoly, and they fuck you with a dozen service charges.

I just got tickets, from the Sully Arena Box Office, to a concert (a different band, of course) at the Egan Center up here in a few weeks, and the guy at the box office told me Tool was coming up here some time next year, following the European leg of the tour...woooohooooo!

i hear ya man, i'm from alabama and working full time, and not making near enough money for that much gas or a plane ticket. i already dropped all the money i could afford to drop with my road trip to coachella. after that i was so pumped to see them again in the fall. it's pretty frustrating to learn that i'm gonna have to wait longer.

i think they're catering to the non-casual radio fan; those who have heard of Tool, you know... those indecisive fuckerz who say they like Tool but don't actually listen to the albums...

*lol*

i wouldnt mind if they played a same setlist over and over if it didnt suck, and i see that they still havent fixed the proiblems with the sound where maynards vocals are drowned out by the bass.

Re: same bullshit setlist

seriously though. i'd love for them to just play a few numbers from Opiate and Undertow. Flood, 4 degrees, Swamp Song, Cold and Ugly, and Hush would satisfy. then, they can go back to their monkeys and parabolas and arizona bay stuff

I remember when Tool did the Lateralus tour and everyone was in awe... I got to hear songs like Flood, opiate, H. etc, those were the days. This tour is proof enough that 10k days sucks, no one wants to hear it...

TOOL is about to completely lose my respect. I don't see how they can even respect THEMSELVES considering they've raised ticket prices but not the quality of their performance. Is Maynard's poor voice so delicate nowadays that he can't perform for more than 90 minutes?

Ok fine... play for 90 minutes... but change up the songs! There are about 50 songs in the TOOL catalog. So far this year, they've played... what... 14 of them? Give us something like the '98 tour. You never knew WHAT you were going to get from night to night. That's got to be a lot more gratifying and FUN to play completely different sets each night.

I almost envy all these brand new fans... the ones who have no idea how disappointing this is shaping up to be...

Yes. Tool are a band known for switching up their setlists on tour, I mean look at the Lateralus tour! Is it too much to ask that just ONE or TWO spots be rotated a night??? C'mon, I swear if they play the same songs in Oakland again I will not buy a Tool related thing again. Do they have any idea how much people are spending to come to their fucking shows? I'm 16 years old, and have had to work like hell to pay for the arena show and $300 to a scalper for the mini tour show at the Paramount in May. I will feel ripped off if they don't play 2 hours for what they're charging, even for regular tickets at face value! If you wanna play 90 min set then make the tickets $20 or something and maybe I'll go. I could understand with the warmup tour, and the show I saw was only their 3rd since the last date of the Lateralus tour, but now it's ridiculous.

you guys got it so good, you forgot what its like not to have concerts with good music around. you remind me of the slaves that Moses saved (you know, when he parted the sea and shit). they were on the way to freedom, and still were not content.
