yeah, that'll probably happen sporadically too. Hopefully with Puscifer having been wrapped up (the recording of it at least) Maynard will devote a little more time and effort into this leg of the tour. Maybe bring back some oldies.

i agree, fuck opeth bring on the Mars Volta that would be probably the most amazing concert ever...i havn't seen mars volta since they went on tour with system of a down
So suppose you had a choice between hearing "Third Eye" or "Disposition-Reflection" live, which would you choose? I strongly doubt that either have a chance this tour but if it was possible...

yeah, I see that from your signature. Lucky bastard. I choose "D/R" just because "Third Eye" has been played more, plus I don't know if Maynard still has the gusto for that song.

So I altered the set a little (basically just swapped "Wings" for "D/R". I added approximate times for each song which includes all the current intros, jam sessions, etc.
Doesn't seem too unrealistic and comes out to a hair less that 2 hours.
Jambi 7:20
Stinkfist (extended, with [-] ions intro) 6:40
46&2 (with intro) 7:40
Schism (with intro) 9:00
Rosetta Stoned 13:00
Right In Two (Intension intro) 9:00
Sober 5:00
Disposition (with jam intro) 7:00
Reflection 13:00
(set break) 10:00
Lateralus 10:00
Vicarious (with intro) 10:00
Ænema 7:00
Total 114:00 minutes
Fuck, you can even swap "Sober" for "The Pot":
Jambi 7:20
Stinkfist (extended, with [-] ions intro) 6:40
46&2 (with intro) 7:40
The Pot 6:30
Schism (with intro) 9:00
Rosetta Stoned 13:00
Right In Two (Intension intro) 9:00
Disposition (with jam intro) 7:00
Reflection 13:00
(set break) 10:00
Lateralus 10:00
Vicarious (with intro) 10:00
Ænema 7:00
Total 115:00 minutes

I knew we were in for a treat when Maynard said "so whos tripping tonight?" right before they played third eye at Lollapolooza in 97.

I saw Helga on stage in Minneapolis for TOOL's performance of Vicarious. I would like to see that again. It was hillarious.

Well I think all these ideas are very realistic, however, I am still leaving in the possibility of something like opiate, sober, or the patient. I think there will be something on this last leg a little different from the heart of the tour. Probably more like the start of the tour in 06 if you have time look em up the mini tour the first europe tour and then the first part of the fall 06 arena tour. Some pretty good looking setlists back then I envy anyone who saw one of those shows. I will be happy with anything of course! I've seen them three times this tour:
5-11-07(Witchita); 5-19-07(OKC); 6-22-07(St. Louis)
Dropping Lost Keys would be an obvious first step (Parabol, anyone?). Personally, I loved the WFM/10K show. Fantastic lights, really meditative moment(s). On the other hand, however, I think it should be dropped. Been there, done that, A LOT. Same with the Pot and Vicarious and the super-extended Lateralus, frankly. So keep one of those.
It'd be amazing to see a Flood-Opiate tie kinda thing going on, too, like they used to do. Doesn't even have to be those two songs (Schism into Rosetta Stoned, maybe?).

i agree about dropping all of that, except Lateralus, no matter how many times i've seen tool i can never get enough of lateralus

I meant drop the extended version, go back to regular. It's probably my favorite Tool song overall and I love the new lightshow they have with it. The 14 minute version is just a bit excessive. Isn't drum soloing what Triad is for? :P

ya i agree, they can fit a whole other song with all the time they used ext. Lateralus, but it would be kinda cool during the ext. lateralus they play triad, but that's just me though i wouldn't know how smooth it would run but it would definetly be intresting

Man thats a preety long setlist, isnt it? This setlist is about 2h:30min i think!? But its a very good setlist, i like it. I would like to see parabola more than flood.
i would like to see them in europe again, but i doubt this happens.
So as much as I would love a completely different set list, I think I would really just settle for a couple of shows with the full length "Intension". Just a few at least. They could start off the tour with the usual generic set list:
Jambi
Stinkfist
46&2
Schism
Rosetta Stoned
Sober
Right In Two
Wings
Lateralus
Vicarious
Ænema
---and then swap out "Sober" for "intension"---
Jambi
Stinkfist
46&2
Schism
Rosetta Stoned
Intension
Right In Two
Wings
Lateralus
Vicarious
Ænema
Good enough, just play "Intension" for fuck's sake!

OK ok ok.... Intension is really cool I like Maynards voice in it and Danny's tabla solo's, but if you have not seen one tool show and you had to pick one song that they did not play off the new album (not counting Lost keys, lipan conjuring, Viginti Tres) mine would be Intension I mean there is probably some reason they dont play it live, who knows?? But I think that them NOT playing it causes a lot of people to want just because they have not played it. If it was in the set every night I think we would not consider it any more special than any other song off of 10K days

Yeah, that's EXACTLY my point, they haven't played it so it would be nice if they did. The concept is the same for "Ticks & Leeches". If they played that all the time during the Lateralus tour people wouldn't give two shits about it but it was only played 14 times live so it's a rarity so you really just reiterated my point. They haven't EVER played it and it would be nice if they did.

Ok. I just took it the wrong way then I guess to me it sounded like it was a favorite or something but yeah I can understand wanting to here it just to see it live.
For something based upon the usual setlist, I think it would be good to swap Jambi for The Grudge, Forty six & 2 for H., Schism for Parabol/Parabola, Rosetta stoned for Third eye and then have Pushit.
Well, swap Third eye and Pushit around cause it would probably work better. And then Triad after Third eye in stead of Vicarious.
The grudge
Stinkfist
H.
Parabol/Parabola
Pushit
Third eye
Triad
Lateralus
Aenema
Of course it's not completely ideal, because I'm basing it on the usual. But it would still be amazing.
Flood
pushit
eulogy
prison sex
the patient
ticks & leeches
H.
WFM
10KD
vicarious
Right in two
aenema
Maybe not in that exact order but it would be fuckin awesome

I already posted the setlist we got in Oklahoma City in May. Here is the setlist from last time they played Tulsa:
Tulsa Expo Center 7-25-02
1. Intro (Adam on keyboards, Justin on bass)
2. Sober
3. Flood (no intro)
4. The Grudge
5. Negative Ions/Stinkfist
6. 46 & 2
7. Schism (extended)
8. Parabol / Parabola
9. Eon Blue Apocalypse / The Patient
10. Aenima
11. Intermission (Adam and Justin)
12. Disposition
13. Reflection
14. Triad (Mike on keyboards, John on drums)
15. Lateralus
I wonder if they even take into consideration what has been played in a given city/region prior, or if they just change periodically to keep it fresh for themselves. What do you think?

I really doubt, at this point, that they take into consideration what's been played previously. A good example would be the Vegas shows where they played the exact same set both nights (except that they swapped "Sober" for "Swamp Song" and then in San Diego a few nights later they played the exact same setlist except they swapped out "Right In Two" for "Pushit".

For the most part don't think they consider what they played the last time I think they switch some songs when they want to keep it a little fresh obviously I was just posting the most recent Tulsa show for shits and giggles might be fun to compare to the upcoming show...., however, they have only played the state of oklahoma one time this tour and I do believe sometimes they do take it in consideration I am predicting the pot and vicarious for the Tulsa show and mostly because we didn't get those at OKC but we will see...

This will be the 5th time I've seen them in this general area (5-11-06 Kansas City, 9-15-06 Kansas City, 5-11-07 Wichita, and 5-19-07 Oklahoma City) and each show has had at least one new song or change in the set list. I'm certainly hoping I see something "new" for me even if it is something they have played elsewhere this tour. For example, Flood, Swamp Song, Opiate have all been played at some point and I would love to hear any of those.

You dont want to see them after that tour, trust me, with Jon gone, they arent the same in the least bit
Honestly, I don't care what the fuck they play, the show is going to be amazing no matter what. But even for how mind blowing Danny's solo in lateralus is and lost keys being extended when Maynard is being an emo bitch, I'd much rather hear The Grudge and go home. Thats it.
Setlist:
The Grudge
