Joblobob: Everyone can hear that, and thats the beauty of it. As i said further up, its cool to watch people play exactly the same shit, but IMO its way cooler to see an interpretation with a personal touch like this... even without the background you would get ticks and leeches-vibes, but still its way different. Alotta folks on this forum, and this thread has complained about the fact that it takes so much more skills to invent good music than to duplicate it, so even more props to machinegunsmith...

Most people are saying lateralus is amazing, im 14 years old, and a drummer of about 5 or 6 years, and lateralus is not THAT amazing, its not easy, but i can play it, and its probably the most fun tool song to play on drums ever, i reccomend all drummers to learn that song at one point, because it rocks. belive it or not the time sig 987 part is one of the easier parts.

Well mr sknashsx90, its the eternal discussion when people compare musicians, to play and to invent is two very differnet things... when you play someone elses shit youve have the answers to a straight A -test, dont you..? When most people are talking about how amazing lateralus is its mostly because it takes a sick and skilled drummer out of this world to be the first one to put it on a record.

Having said that, everyone here loves to see drumtracks played, so if you could tape or film and youtube this it would be appreciated very much... If i had those skills i'd consider it my duty to enlighten others ;)

id say ticks and leeches, the hardest one to play along with on another instrument might be 46 and 2 because the drum solo pretty much leaves you in freefall

Most drummers have high standards when it comes to replicating someone elses work. Non drummers think if you can play 'something that sounds like it' for the same length of time - that means you can 'play' the song.

None of this 'interjecting your own style' bullshit - if you can play the song, you play it - note for note.

yeah rosetta stoned takes the cake, i spent three hours on that polyrhythmic part, played it right one time, threw my sticks and jumped for joy. I had to ask my self throughout if it was possible to make something so hard. I remember hearing one of those mastodon song drum fills, goin to my drums and mastering it in like 2 minutes. Rosetta stone is just damn hard as hell. Definitly harder than any of the fast shit you hear all the time "oh hes the fastest drummer, hes the best" people who say that all the time really dont know what dificult means.
