For sure, we should definitely meet up. My info is out of date - I'm flying in from Hong Kong where I'm currently working. That makes this a no-brainer.

Also, keep rooting for the Yen to weaken!!
I've been watching the yen daily! It makes it difficult the way we are printing dollars here in the states! We are flying out from Chicago the 9th. First time in Japan.
Browsing for the fuck of it, looks like set times are up. Tool get's 75 mins. Good thing it's indoors, pretty early to be playing. Have fun everyone going!

Heading to Tokyo on the 11th, flying in from South Korea (I work in Busan). Attending Ozzfest for one day, Sunday the 12th. It will be my 5th Tool show over the past 15 years. Really hoping to see them play Pushit, as I have never experienced that one yet. Opiate would be a cool treat as well. A weekend in Tokyo; sushi, sake, and Tool, sounds about right to me. Will post a full review after the show.
Sure a meet up sounds cool. I'm at ohare right now waiting on my flight. We are staying in shinjuku. I know nothing of the area around ozzfest. I'm up for drinks all weekend. I'm hoping for a last minute tool or deftones side show announcement.
meet up sounds groovy. im traveling with a fellow American, we arrive in Tokyo around lunch time on Saturday. we are staying in the Chiba area, really near the venue actually. will be out for food and drinks Saturday night, and then we've certainly got a full day of festival on Sunday, beers or something would be good
My buddy and I are staying at the Toyoko Inn Makuhari. I have some recommendations on some good izakaya establishments for eating and drinking, my buddy used to live in the Chiba area. Gonna be heading out for a night on the town tonight (Saturday) if anyone is gonna be in the area and wants to try and meet up
Just found my way to my hotel - I'm staying closer to central Tokyo tonight but within walking distance from the venue tomorrow. Hoping the venue has wifi otherwise ill be out of luck with my iPhone. Either way looking forward to tomorrow!
Me too! We were exhausted from drinking and walking yesterday. Will be out early today. Drinking and getting ready for the show. Probably as early as 8 am. Of u have an iPhone u can web message me at 018153428540. Other wise I'm trying to keep my usage to a minimum. Also I'll try to post. Where we are throuout the day.
Can't check in to my hotel until 2 so I'm grabbing beers and a burger. Hopefully will be in the venue around 2:30. Anyone know if there is wifi in that place?!?
No wi fi. Lets meet in the room outside of the main room at the official bar at 4pm. I'll be just outside the rail between the bar and the women's bathroom. I'm white, shaved head wearing jeans and a black button down shirt. With an Aidan girl in a gray sweater. My name is bob. If no one shows up at four ill check at 5.

Had a blast, although you couldn't hear Maynard at all. Quite a disappointment, but not something unusual. I was in the front row (probably the tallest guy in the arena) right in front of Adam.
At first, it seemed there was some issue with Adam's guitar. He kept looking over to the side at one individual, which I assume was the sound technician? With the 75 minute total time, I felt like it was kind of rushed, but maybe that's just me. Something interesting was that Danny messed up during the 46&2 drum solo and just casually laughed it off.
Mike, if you're part of this forum, hit me up sometime. I was the guy who helped you translate the Japanese when you were battling it out with the other Japanese guys over the drumstick. We briefly talked afterwards outside. Would be cool to catch up. I was somewhat tired from being pressed against the barricade for 8 hours, so I forgot to ask for contact information.
Also, I went to Shred School in LA in 2006 to meet Adam, and it sounded like, before they went into one of the songs, that Adam briefly played the same riff that he said he was working on at that time. It kind of sounded like the beginning of Maynard's Dick.
@ par1skater. I was right behind you, saw u with the tool Beenie, you were guarding that spot on the rail all day bro! Attaboy!
As par1 said, it did feel rushed, but they were still in good form.
Sober was a highlight, I've seen it live 3 other times but tonight they seemed to nail it. Missed the segues and long drawn out intros to songs because of the time constraints a festival set time presents. Even the lead into lateralus was short. Extended stinkfist, with a few extra bars at the end, "relax, turn away and take my hand…..take my hand……take my hand" then there was an explosion of confetti to finish the show on a strong note. the members of Tool have these songs down, it looks just like its their natural instinct to play those songs off aenema these days.
maynard never spoke, other than singing the songs obviously. his vocals were way too low in the mix, i agree. but he actually stuck around at the end of the set rather than disappearing immediately. He took a picture with his phone and flashed a peace sign for the crowd, retreated off stage with the rest of the band.
good show, once again. Tool rocks your ass.period.
Haha, yeah, that was me! Got there at around 8AM and held onto that rail for dear life. I have about 7 huge bruises all over my body, but it was worth it to see TOOL from that distance.
By the way, I just listened to some audio clips and it seems like you can indeed hear Maynard well, so from the front only, it was somewhat difficult.
Not sure how to edit my post above. Anyways, was going to briefly mention that the only thing Maynard said during the whole time was おはようございます (Ohayo-gozaimasu) which is the polite way of saying 'Good morning' in Japanese (right after Hooker). I have also heard some people use it at night when talking to a professor as a polite greeting.
