Whenever I try to PM someone a link (usually to entirely legal material...) TDN craps out and gives me a "service temporarily unavailable" white page. Why is that happening?

I just sent you both a link and it worked fine for me.
Try wrapping the URL in [ noparse ] and [ /noparse ] tags.
Also ... there are certain string values (I'm not sure what they are) that cause that error to be thrown, for which there is no known fix. It's an issue with the vB software itself and is probably in their list of "things to fix."
