For that one, Maynard wandered around the stage like he was searching for something. He bent down in several places and seemed to be playing with something on the ground, I wasnt close enough to really see what it was though. Before playing RS, Maynard yelled "wake up you drunk fuckers." "
Was he wanding around 11 steps at a time before bending over for a closer look? Just remember people, twas I who told you where the message was hidden back in May. TWAS I !!!!

Hey McRoggles, new avatar!?
I myself am still holding out on buying tickets for the Oberhausen-show, I want to see some change in the setlist first, if they indeed introduce the Wings/10,000 double I will get tickets (if they're still available, but so far it's looking good).
Barry and Mario probably won't be going this time arouind.

There is a whole lot of pages to sort through and I did not see my question addressed, but regarding merch - are they selling any girl cut shirts at the booths?

Is it just me, or is Schism weird to hear live? I just get a strange vibe whenever they play it. A lot of people standing around not knowing what to do, and it's kind of slow, then the fast middle..I can't put my finger on it. It's like it's a quiet song, with some rockin' parts, but...I don't know, I can't explain it. ?help?
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
Question:
If I get tickets that are in the section RIGHT next to the stage (like parallel to it), am I going to be able to see everything okay? Or is the view going to be partially obstructed by screens and amps and whatnot? Just not sure how the stage set-up is for this tour. Thanks in advance!
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
It depends. You'll probably have an amazing view. The screens are far less obtrusive than on previous tours, and the stage is better lit, giving a better view of the band. You'll probably have a great view, unless you're actually behind the stage. At the Vancouver show, there were seats that were so far to the side they were literally behind the stage, and I think that at MOST they might have seen a bit of Justin's back! I'd be SO pissed.

I will be attending my first tool concert in about a week and was unable to get tickets on the floor. being as this is my first tool concert, i was wondering if anyone might have any opinions as to whats better at a tool concert, the floor, or seats where you can see everything?

you want to be above the stage for this tour. most of the time i would say floor, but for this tour i really recomend seats where you can see the bottom of the stage.
what most people who have seen this tour from the floor seats wont tell you is that the stage beneath the bandmembers is like a tv screen. there is video being projected onto the floor beneath the band. this cannot be seen from the floor seats, and the people with the floor seats have no idea of what it is like.
i definately recomend the upper level seats. and i recomend that people with floor seats should trade their tickets for upper level. im sure there are people who would trade 2 upper level for one floor..

What jpmanson said. Even on the last tour there was great lighting on the audience. Trippy disco balls and those psychadelic lights with the gel and bubbles and shit in 'em.

Seats for sure, I just went to my first show a couple weeks ago and we were on the floor and could hardly see much, I still got a good look at all the guys on stage but every now and then some ass's head would block out maynard and I couldnt see anything for the visuals either. So Seats are the way to go imo.
Depends, first time I saw them was at a festival, and I was about 5 feet away from Adam, which was cool, but then sitting down at the Apollo allowed me to take it all in easier and be comfortable.
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I've been 2 shows with seats and 1 with floor. It all depends on the crowd/venue I think. Really different experience being on the floor, and I loved having that, but I think that Tool are a more visual band and not getting to see the 'TV screen' stuff on the bottom of the stage probably maybe me lose out on the full effect. That said, watching the guys from literally a couple feet away is like a balance to that, it's just mesmerizing, so I really think either way you can enjoy the show a ton (but make sure you can hold your own if you're on the floor).
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
I have a question that may already have been addressed- what time has Tool been hitting the stage on this leg of the tour? I have read a lot of reviews and they haven't mentioned when the band is going on. I just found out I may not be able to leave for a show until very shortly before the "official" time on the ticket and I want to know how close I'll be cutting it (i.e. how fast i'll have to drive!)
Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion (merged)
In Vancouver, Tool hit the stage at about 9:30. I think that it's been similar at the other shows.
As for the floor vs. seats: These days I'm sort of sick of moshing (at 27 yrs old, my moshing days are pretty much over), but the Vancouver show had SEATS ON THE FLOOR. I found this to be perfect. Unlike the Utah show, we did not start throwing our chairs around (actually they were bolted to the floor which was probably a good idea). I was in first row, which also gave me a nice railing to lean on. It was PERFECT! Amazing! No one bumped into me, not even once, during the entire show.
Yes, I missed out on some of the visuals (I couldn't see the images on the floor of the stage), but I've seen enough Tool visuals in the past (during the 1998 and 2001 tours). Nothing could have made me trade my first row floor seats. However, it's nice to know about the new stage visuals, and that the people up in the higher seats get a richer experience than before.
But as for moshpit floor vs. seats in the stands... I think I'd take seats in the stands, as long as they were fairly close.
