San Diego, this is a better venue than Valley View. 207. 3rd and 7 years since last gonna be obstreperous. My brothers first and a scratch of HIS bucket list! And the nephews both their first!

Yes! Was renovated and opened from it in Dec2013 , I hope Adam and Junior figure something out for the massive screens that lay across the entire front part of the stage from side to side. Seats 7,000 for a show like this. Britney Spears does her show their twice a week , I certainly hope Maynard cracks a wise one at that.

I saw them at the pearl, which by Tool's standards, is rather cramped. Great show but i would avoid sitting in the top balconies if you want to focus on details… they mostly get the top side of a laser show by the end- could be cool too, but heads up. It was special to see in a smaller venue but it definitely lacked the grandiose nature of their performances. Regardless, you're bound to enjoy yourself no matter where you see them- they always make it worth it.

The Sports Arena aka ipayone center aka valley view is atrocious for any show sound wise. The pearl is a hall, The Axis is more like Nokia Theatre LA live 7,000 seater and I've seen them there. The axis is way more state of the art for sound and visuals. I just hope they incorporate the screens tat run along the entire facade of the front stage are. I'm from SD and rather see them at that place then shit sound Sports Arena. I really hope the place does tool justice if not we'll hear bout it in the reviews I will be posting mine for The Axis a nice big open Amphitheatre built for a show like this. The Pearl us hardly a venue for tool looks cramped.

You're door, the south door, will be accessed from the main entrance off Sports Arena Blvd. When you turn there you will see that south door looking at ya and there are only 4 main entrances I believe. The east end is where everything is Loaded and where the stage will be, so upon entering your lower lodge should be to the left, and north east for pre show spot is it on scene for glimpse of tour bus or staff. For in town preshow pick a spot, just north west is mission bay and more west is PB and OB going through there is easy and lots of places to hang from nice to dives. There all there or DT San Diego Gaslamp.

If anyone ends up with an extra ticket, please let me know. deskboy72 at yahoo

The logistics of this venue can be frustrating. Get there early. If you can avoid parking at PH, better yet. If you do plan on parking there, get there very early.

Me too! I'm psyched. Looks like we can leave the venue to drop off stuff/grab dinner after sound check and return through a VIP line/entrance for the show. Better situation than some of the other shows.

Re: March 15th 2014 - Las Vegas

^^^ YES!!! We will have such great seats too! So stoked for the VIP experience. So happy that we get to leave the venue and drop our stuff off. I am staying at the Planet Hollywood so dropping everything off will be quick. I saw Tool play this venue in 2010 and that was the old theater. So stoked it's been remodeled. I have been really good and have not looked at any setlist! So I have no idea what's coming :)

Re: March 15th 2014 - Las Vegas

After stalking ticketmaster for a few days, and passing up a few tickets available in the balcony and other parts of the venue, I struck gold (literally) the day before the show and scored a seat in the gold circle. Made the drive from LA to Vegas yesterday morning, making it in well under 4 hours, no speeding ticket.

Watched the UCLA game at BURGR in Planet Hollywood before the show. Then had a yard drink. Now Time for the show. Failure - have only really ever listened to one of their albums, but was interested to see them and really enjoyed their set.

Was something else to be so close (without getting pushed around and feeling suffocated). Relaxed vibe, which I think could be said for the show itself. Maynard took a picture of the crowd with his iPad. Cool to see HWAP live for the first time, drum solo was awesome, and Intension was great. Didn't notice it, but Maynard let loose an expletive immediately after Opiate, and said something about forgetting his own lyrics. Huge ovation at the end, and the band (sans Maynard) stayed on stage basking in it. Great show.
