Can I call you, "Hellboy Nineteen Seventy-Five," or do you prefer, "Mr. Fourth Eye," or "Quadruple Optical?"

Wow, they're varying the setlist more than they have in a long time (night-to-night-wise). Since '02, or '01 even.

On a more topical note, Melbourne Big Day Out is today, and Tool should be in stage in about 3 hours

You must be so excited! I hope it is wonderful and I am sure it will be. Tool will be awesome. They give everything and just the joy of seeing them live in Australia is amazing. Who knows when they will be back again?

Be in the moment. And enjoy the ride.

heh, I remember when that guy first started uploading videos at the end of the 2006 tour. I've been watching his videos for years; at first he was just regurgitating random clips from common sources, but in the last couple of years he's actually made a name for himself by uploading harder-to-find stuff that people care about, not to mention some full shows which is quite nice.

Gonna have to agree with Hodge.

I love how some of you do that, "no way, you're wrong, this album is like Tool's whatever album" kind of thing. It's bloody subjective.

Nardo sang the ending of Vicarious here. Seems like he's having a hard time doing it, but it's still a respectable try.

EDIT:
Anybody else notice that Deftones are playing BDO? Would have been cool to get a passenger :P

The intro is definitely slower that usual, not much difference with the rest of the song though.

I agree with nedak, he sounded strained and shaky trying to belt out the ending. But at least he did it.

This was from tonights show right? Maybe this attempt at singing the ending is a sign that Vicarious may have numbered days in the setlist?

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

I was thinking that the spread out schedule may have allowed him to give a bit more with his voice last night. He hadn't sung since Thursday night and he doesn't have to sing again until Wednesday night. That's probably the longest break, either side of a show, that he would get whilst touring.

Shit, i thought he sounded fantastic on that. Think the flatness on the last note might have been the camera mic range. Adam's guitar sounded weird on a few notes too if you noticed. THAT, OR HE FUCKED UP.

I noticed that too, but figured it was just as likely to be the poor quality of the recording

Funny. Just listened to a 2007 show.

Man am I happy they dropped Rosetta stoned and replaced it with third eye. It is not even funny how much better of a song third eye is. Both live and on the album.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

It was a worthy trade off, but still... Rosetta Stoned is one of the more impressive songs they've ever written and it fucking KILLED live.

Especially in 2009 when it kind of became the "centerpiece" of the set.

Jesus, guys. Don't disparage the Rosetta Stoned. You'll hurt its feelings.

Only live; the album version of the song rocks. If MJK could just find a better way to do the beginning.

he could just do it like on the album, instead of babbling completely out-of-sync with the rest of the band

also, even the album version falls flat after the climax - there's really no need for the "bob help me!" part at the end. it just feels tacked on.

the climax is wonderful, though
