Saw a cover band last night called Schism at a club in NJ. They play all over the country. They kicked ass last night! Has anyone ever seen them? What do you think of them? I can tell they respect and love the music-they really do it justice in my opinion.

Tool tribute bands are a thorny topic round these parts. Eye for one don't mind them or any cover bands for that matter.

I doubt Tool have sat down and decided that this would be the last album. I think people seem to cite Maynard as the reason why this may be the last one due to his "lack of interest", though personally I don't think he's ready to part with that cash cow so readily.

That said it wouldn't come as a huge surprise if it were.

i've seen them before.

musically speaking, they kick ass. spot on.

the lead singer is HORRIBLE though. HORRID.

i'd totally go see them every single time they came around, but the fact that they still have the same lead singer, chances are i will never go see them ever again. shame really.

that's pretty much my thought on most tool cover bands. some have surprisingly good drums/guitar/bass. however EVERY SINGLE TIME the vocals just turn me off. i'll take an aging, rusty and half-assing maynard any day of the week ;)

Best line in that article, talking about TOOL and DMB co-headlining:

"Of course, their one downside might be the fact that their audiences are completely different -- and one’s audience might even be prone to beat up the other’s."

haha, yeah i was there. mile high music festival. good times.

Tool headlined, but they put on Widespread Panic at like midnight/1:00AM way after Tool fans left the place. also, that festival was the most intense hippy-filled environment i have ever experienced. it was pretty cool.

^ looks like you had a great time!!

i've been to cosm many times, so maybe its lost some luster for me. BUT its great seeing pics of cosm virgins with giant smiles on their faces!!

aloke must have been worth the price of admission. very lucky to have seen his magic.

as i've said, i love schims music, but can definitely do without their lead singer. from what i've heard, hes leaving the band soon anyway...

anyway, good times!!

Re: General Tool Discussion

nobody mentioned how danny originaly said "june-july" and then he said "may-june". taking it with a grain of salt but maybe thats an indication of how things are going? i honestly think maynard works on tool stuff on tour buses. buuuuut they lie so who knows.

as i've said, i love schims music, but can definitely do without their lead singer. from what i've heard, hes leaving the band soon anyway...

anyway, good times!!

Aloke and schism actually played together for a bit which was really cool and sounded great. I've been wanting to get up to cosm for a long time (since they were in NYC)- glad I had a chance. I'm not too critical of the cover band cuz it's just fun to be around people who love it as much as i do. I'll take what I can get ya know??

FUCK YES!

Tool and Puscifer at the same festival!?!?!? I LOVE IT.

Sorry to all those who wanted them to work on a new album, but I'll take this any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Absolutely stoked 100% going to this!

Absolutely amazing news.

According to the festival website:

"Headliners TOOL, in their only US date of the year,"

hmm? i guess they forgot about the winter tour and meant to say the only show of the tour. if this is accurate, then this will be a one-off show. interesting.

It would seem very strange for Tool to do a one show tour. It certainly isn't very cost effective...

Damn, LiveNation must have thrown BIG buck$ to TOOL to get them to do a one-off show in St. Paul, MN in the middle of their recording time.

This is going to be a tough call for me. I'm not a big fan of festivals, but I guess it's their only show this year...

for those who haven't had a chance to see Puscifer, that should give you a little extra incentive to check this festival out. Plus there is a good chance of some Tool members appearing on the Puscifer set.

I also suspect at least a slightly different setlist, or one song they haven't played in a while.

Checked travelocity and this trip including wristbands hotel and flight would run me about 1200 $ If I am correct this is the inaugural for the rivers edge music festival . That being said I am a little nervous about the venue and how well you could see the band . I guess I am like JWB on the festival scene. I really would like to go . Undecided. And driving would be out 1100 miles from home . By the way this is cost for 2 people me and the wife. Gotta make up my mind soon wristbands go on sale friday april 13.

Still can't believe that neither Puscifer or Tool is gonna be at Coachella.

It's still gonna be great but could have been soooooo much better.

Yep, I got a pair for the Prescott, AZ show. Add Vegas to the mix and it's a winning trip.

Also going to the Prescott show, which will be as close as it gets to a "hometown" show for Maynard. Should be cool.
