The show I was at had Descending/Intolerance vs The Patient/Swamp Song at this one. I think these two setlists have been the best on the tour.
A Tool show without a little bit of Undertow just isn't the same.

I was at Raleigh too, I've been very lucky to see 4 shows with a pretty big swing in each setlist (at least for Tool)
Last night was incredible.

You think they would but out a 16 min song at soundcheck?

I think they would. Although it could just be the "tough" sections to make sure it is ready for the live show.
If/When they debut it, there will be scrutiny and videos all over (even though they are not allowed). People will risk ejection to film it like The Patient.
I'm sure Tool want to get this one right beforehand.

How do we even know that they will ever play it? Pretty much everything anyone has said about it being played is pure speculation.
Until we have maynard out there soundchecking it, there is very little chance it is played in my eyes.
Everything they have surprised us with over the years has been a part of soundcheck.
The Grudge - Soundchecked
When the pot returned - soundchecked with maynard
When Eulogy was played once - soundchecked
The Patient - Soundchecked
Swamp Song - Soundchecked
Maybe its wishful thinking on my part, but i expect we see Culling voices before 7empest

I'll answer your first question - name one recorded song Tool has not played live at some point. I don't think there is one, but someone else may know better than I. Bottom line is they normally play all their recorded material live at some point. Whether it stays in the set for long, or gets played much more than a few times, is a different story.

Yeah. They also don't have any other 16 minute songs.
I do expect them to play it at some point. I just wont be shocked if it is not for quite some time. definitely not before they are sound checking it on a regular basis with maynard

I think the closest example to it may be Wings 1&2 and when they finally started playing them live. It was definitely a while before the debut, about 5 months from the opening of the 10K Days tour to the first performance. And when it did debut, it was pretty unexpected- choosing LA and a packed night 1 at Staples Center. It caught us all by surprise.

Looks like Lipan Conjuring was only played once. In terms of a full song Maynard's Dick was played twice.
Then we get to Ticks and Leeches played only 25 times. (I saw the FTP!)
So your point is valid for sure.
Hey anybody think that Adam picked Patient and Swamp Song for his birthday?🤔

No way!
Arizona has been the scene for several bust outs over the years. Maybe they'll get it.

Flight to Phx was canceled. After realizing that driving isn’t an option (we would’ve arrived about 9pm) I bit the bullet and paid a few hundred more for 3 of the last seats on a flight that leaves in 7 hours. I hope the rest of this goes a little smoother! +1 for 7empest tomorrow!

I swear Austin better not get 7empest and then the next night Dallas gets shafted.
Fucking Austin got Third Eye twice in 2007 and 2010 and Dallas hasn't seen it since 1998.
Tired of Austin getting the long epics.

No Tempest last night but it was an incredibly fun show. Swamp Song! I belted that one out along with the couple to my left. Sound was really good in Gila River. My first time seeing a concert there and would definitely go again. Night one SD still the best I have seen from them this tour but last night ranks a solid second place.

This was spirit airlines. Learned THAT lesson... $75 round trip was too good to be true. Wound up @ $260 on Alaska (business class), but I made it. Had the time of my life with 4 of my closest friends- the same ones that met me in Denver in October. All in all: worth every penny (and the lesson).

Not sure I caught that, but I did notice some conversing several times between them before songs. In particular, Justin walked over to Adam before Parabola and asked something. I think Justin wasn't sure if they were doing Parabol first. Instead they went straight into Parabola without it. I believe that is the first time this tour they have not done Parabol. And my initial thought was they were trying to shorten the set a bit in anticipation of doing Tempest.
That said, looking at the setlist from that night, I am still unsure where they would have put Tempest. And in hindsight, I missed Parabol being there.

I had the same thought when they just launched into Parabola... I thought I heard Adam switch his sound for the opening riff and plucked a couple notes before he switched on the hellmouth and started in on Invincible. I bet they’ll put it in that place.

Same thought here - definitely thought it meant they were making room for something else, as did those around me. Talked myself into being ok with it at the time for that reason, but agree in hindsight it was definitely missed. Didn't hear the tempest tease myself, but not saying it wasn't there.

Same thought here - definitely thought it meant they were making room for something else, as did those around me. Talked myself into being ok with it at the time for that reason, but agree in hindsight it was definitely missed. Didn't hear the tempest tease myself, but not saying it wasn't there.

Funny that as soon as i said they wouldn't play it unless they soundcheck it, and then they soundchecked it the next day haha.
Hopefully more dates coming. I can make Idaho, but don't really care to go there. I heard a rumor of minnesota so im hopeful on that front.

I'm still holding out that maybe they'll schedule Lincoln, Omaha, KC or somewhere close to me.

Nah man, I'm not. I was at the Lincoln show, which was awesome. I'd love to see them again but we'll just see what the future holds.

@concert goers: Which arena has better sound/seating for a show? Moda Center or Matthew Knight Center?
I haven't been to either before

Would they play SF so soon after SJ? One can hope. I've seen them in Fresno and that arena is horrible.

that arena was ungodly hot that day. Everyone was just sweating balls lol. Good Show. Next night in Des Moines was a little better, probably because sweat was exchanged for Intolerance.

Yea it was balls hot in PBA, which sucked because it was fairly nice out in the Railyard. I was up in the stands, probably about half court about 20 rows from the floor. I also hated how far away the bathrooms were.
