What are the odds they’re just teasing it to get fans (myself included-see y’all in Glendale) to keep buying tickets to shows (and posters...) in hopes of hearing something different/new. Send more money, am I right?
looking forward to January’s show.

Weird stoner rambling thought/question: Those Red/white semi trucks I’ve always seen at the shows- i counted something like 13 or 14 of them in Denver. Does all that stuff get freighted over to Australia and New Zealand, or do they only take essentials? What IS in all those trucks? I get that the production is massive, but it still seems like a lot of trucks for a 4 piece band. Am I the only one that would be interested in a back-lot tour as part of the VIP experience? It seems like a pretty impressive logistical feat. I’d like to know more (everything) about it.

Hey Junior, who was the music industry-looking absolute LEGEND who dumped a beer by accident on one of the consoles (could't make out if it was audio or visual) like literally 3 minutes before stage time at the Brooklyn show?
Watching the panic was really difficult ... Hope this didnt involve you! Didn't seem to delay anything!
FYI, unreal tour. I thought as good as any Lateralus era show. Except the Pot. Enough with the Pot. The Fear Inoculum songs are unreal live.
Also, RIP LateraL8eight7, a handle i thought of in 2002. woof. cornball.

Fern folklore
Although alleged to be exceedingly difficult to find, anyone who sees a fern flower is thought to be guaranteed to be happy and rich for the rest of their life. Similarly, Finnish tradition holds that one who finds the seed of a fern in bloom on Midsummer night will, by possession of it, be guided and be able to travel invisibly to the locations where eternally blazing Will o' the wisps called aarnivalkea mark the spot of hidden treasure. These spots are protected by a spell that prevents anyone but the fern-seed holder from ever knowing their locations. In the USA, ferns are thought to have magical properties such as a dried fern can be thrown into hot coals of a fire to exorcise evil spirits, or smoke from a burning fern is thought to drive away snakes and such creatures.

Don’t know. I was told it was a guest of one of the band members.
The beer was dumped on the small digital Midas console that handles the surround sound mix.
It worked for the show and the rest of the tour.

I think we had 15 or 16 this time.
One of them was dedicated to a full 2nd set of motors and rigging steel, and would go ahead to the next city on nights when we had a show the next day in another city. That way the riggers could start hanging points at 5am no matter how far away the rest of the gear was.
At least 1 truck was full of merch.
Other than that, every thing you saw that was part of the show went in one of the remaining 14 trucks.
I’ll see if I can find a breakdown of how many were used for each department at some point.
I honestly don’t know, since I don’t take part in the truck loading/unloading process anymore.
The last time I did we only had about 3 trucks.

Phew! It was tough to watch, especially when the drills came out to take the top off at like 8:42. I was like UH. OH. House went down right on schedule, though.
Wonderful design this tour, Junior. Thanks always for the experience.

I saw "due to scheduling conflict" given as the reason
Surely they would check everyone's schedule before adding a date(?)
Or something really important came up for one of them. On a Monday.

My first thought for sure. But I was hoping 3 nights meant a film of some sorts

Evidently day 3 was less than half sold out. Not having the shows on consecutive nights hurts the out of town folks as well.

Yup. Already slightly annoyed I have to stay Saturday night to make both Friday and Sunday shows. But staying through Monday meant taking at least one full day off from work. I was going to do it, but obviously not enough out of towners felt the same way.
And will say it again- the pricing was absurd for the third show. I am used to seeing platinum prices for good seats appear about 10 mins into the onsale, not immediately at 10:01am. Something was fishy. They screwed up.

Round trip Sea-tac to Phoenix: $74.58 (spirit airlines)
Single concert ticket in lower section 114 plus fees: $120ish
(Also, my mom’s birthday is the day after the show and she’s in AZ... so that helped me justify the trip to the wife.) But coming in under $200 out-the-door is pretty reasonable.
Just like Denver a month ago- it cost me more to see them in my own state in 2017. At The Gorge: add 2 tanks of gas, a camping ticket, and $100 in the ice chest. Even to see them at key arena in Seattle I’m paying ferry/bridge tolls, parking/Uber... it all adds up.
Now that I think about it, most of the Tool shows I’ve seen, I traveled to... and the cost of traveling is usually less than face value concert tickets. Plus, Tool is the only reason I have ever been to
Chicago
San Francisco
San Diego
Denver
Las Vegas

San Diego
Denver
Las Vegas

Traveling to see Tool is a shiatload of fun, for sure. I love it. Along with multiple domestic cities (Vegas, Phx, NYC, etc), I'll add Belgium/Brussels as a place I had not thought of going to before I made the trek to see them there. Worth every penny.

I was going to post that 768 miles each way is approximately $275 in gas and a flight planned in advance should be $150 or so, but maybe Lotus doesn't fly...
I suspect PNW will get a leg after Australia. Maybe they are waiting for amphitheater weather so they can hit the Gorge and RR

Yeah I would say that most of my Tool shows were not in the town I live in.

Mine too. Although that has much to do with their proclivity for not playing LA very often as me enjoying travel.

I have heard the fanbase in Germany/Belgium/Netherlands is really strong and the Aussie fanbase is particularly rowdy. I’d love to see a Tool show in a crowd laced with the nuances of a completely different culture.

Fun fact: One of my senior projects in culinary school was a food truck called “Vision Quest Catering” and it was designed to followed Tool (and other bands) on tour, setting up in the parking lot before and after each show... turns out all the licensing and laws that The Man enforces kept that dream from ever coming to fruition. Following Tool from show to show has always been a dream of mine.

I saw them on the roof of a parking garage in Tijuana. But that was a long long time ago.
It was pretty rowdy but also kind of nervous scary. TJ was a really adventure in those days.
The local cops confiscated EVERY SINGLE cigarette on the way in. I'm like HA cool no smoking.
Then inside the same cops had a table set up and sold the ciggys back to the group.
Lol.

This is how I felt at Knotfest 2014 in San Bernadino. Made me throw my weed away going into the campground, even though I had my doctors recommendation on hand... then there was a medical weed booth in the festival selling 8ths at a premium price. Disgusting.
Tool in TJ sounds cool, though.

Author & Punisher opening for next leg? I Put him on Spotify this morning... and I think like it. I guess he’s an engineering dropout that builds his own instruments to create doomy rhythmically layered industrial tracks. Distorted, grinding, pulsing, agonizing and at times climatic. Interesting. Similar feel to 3Teeth, but for some reason I like A&P a little more. We’ll see how he does in an arena setting.

Author & Punisher seems better suited for film scores. It's dark and creepy and would fit in nicely with a horror film.
