Get this, they handed out a fucking disclaimer with your parking pass. The first line said something like, "Treat this event as if it were a ballet or film." Also said you'd be ejected if you got caught filming or photographing and that whatever was confiscated will not be returned. Super ridiculous. The funny thing is, after all that, it was the least thorough pat down I've ever had at that venue.
That sounds awesome. Then again, I don't go to shows to bounce around with a bunch of people, I just want to sit there, enjoy, and applaud when necessary. To me, a rock concert has a lot of parallels with a ballet or film, but obviously (we've been over this before) I'm in the vast minority.
Hopefully people are able to pull off audio recordings if the pat downs are lax. I don't care about crappy cell phone videos or photos though, those are worthless. I've been on Youtube, and I'm still a little confused as to why people are obsessed with taking super-shit quality photos and videos at Tool shows.

What songs a you guys hoping for this time around?
I hope for Third eye, Reflection, 10000 Days.............please :)
cant wait!
After Danny comments in the NZ media about playing older song and tracks they haven't dusted off for a whiler I've ben thinking about it....
I've never heard Eulogy or H live. I'd love to see them.
And the album version of Pushit (Saw the Salival version in Sydney in 01) ...but either one, won't complain!
Cold & Ugly and Jerk Off would be cool too
As unlikely as it is, them doing No Quarter would be fantastic.
And Third Eye of course, but methinks we will get that.

A third eye opener would be unbelievable, hope your right :)
It looks like there'll be seating on the Lawn at the Myer Bowl. 'I'm row EEE'. Does anyone think people will stick to their allocated tickets or just run down to as close as they can get?

I actually got the setlist from last night, 3 Libras (remix) was listed before Imagine but it wasn't played. The crowd was rowdier and less respectful and I didn't think the band was as strong the first night. Maynard specifically sounded more flat overall but it did seem like he tried to enhance the softer songs, vocally. During A Stranger he really emphasized this line "What am I to do with all this silence?" he really wanted the crowd to be completely silent for a moment as the band had stop entirely at that point. What does the crowd do? Fucking roars, it was annoying. All complaining aside I still had a great time and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Highlights from last night were Vanishing and Lullaby > Gravity.

Also, I have one friend who plans on recording LA and one that plans on recording Vegas, fwiw. I'll "show you the way" if they come out alright.

having heard the AZ shows on youtube, i will say this...
i'm not usually one to complain or anything...the band sounds great....
however, really, can the people not sing along to every fucking word of the show?? it's not karaoke time. yes yes, it feels nice to get a sense of "community" having all the people sing along, i get it. it feels "uniting". but really now.
i sing along at concerts at times too. i do. sometimes, when the moment calls for it. and even when i do, i dont make it a contest to make sure the person next to me can hear me.
to further "prove" what i stated above, here is a recent example from alice in chains, 2010 vs a performance in like, 1993 i think. take a serious look at this. really, it will blow your fucking mind.
yes, in the 90s, they moshed. its cool. in the 1993 version, you cannot hear a single person singing. i'm sure people were singing, but the focus was on the BAND, and LAYNE, not on fuckin karaoke!
people need to really get over themselves!

As songs age, they become links to the fan's collective memories, singing along to classic or older songs is as old as rock and roll itself.
Many of the fans in the first clip hadn't had to time to make the connection and may didn't even know the words.
Like or not, when bands get together after a lengthy hiatus there is an element of nostalgia and that lends itself to fans feeling like singing along.

Actually no, now I am confused. Disregard the above guys, the boxes are double letters, not triple...
Very odd?
Spoke with Ticketmaster- It is only a way to organise the allocation of lawn tickets, Standing only :) lucky for my row j! Looks like Melbourne has sold out?
It sold out in a few minutes. I tried to get 3 seats in stalls and ended up with lawn, so thought I'd try for 2 in the stalls and everything was sold out. Ended up paying 500 for 2 general admission tickets. :(
It's crazy to think that presumably well over 10,000 people in Melbourne were all logged into their computers at 9:00 this morning trying to get Tool tickets.

Bad luck mate! Better to pay than miss out though :)
I know, how fast do these things go....I think Sydney would have been all over it as well with $55 return flights :)
Very, very decent seats! (especially the higher the number is)
Onside yourself lucky, there's only around 200 odd box seats.
As far as I know there is no RRR, however? No chance you've made a mistake av333? Double-check, it's not BBB is it?
Box seats are lettered AA through to HH, so anything outside of that will definitely be lawn i.e. EEE, RRR fortunately or unfortunately depending on your disposition as a glass half full/half empty kind of guy.
Would you take a seat in the stalls or a seat in the boxes?

Just listened to the bootleg from the first night of APC in Phoenix.
I was right.
Maynard can't pull off Hollow, Orestes, 3 Libras, and Brena (he changed the title to Baby).
The rest were alright, but they also aren't particularly challenging to sing.
Surprisingly, Judith sounded pretty good.
That will be all.
He sounded great on The Hollow and Orestes to me. Not sure what parts you think he can't pull off. 3 Libras and Brena (mostly Brena) there were definitely parts he struggled on vocally, though.
