Wonderful. Another TOOL tour without a new album. My youngest girl, who is now 7, was just born the last time a TOOL record was recorded. Is it time to close the tool forum once and for all until the band can actually produce music? What else is there to talk about in regards to TOOL music? Oh I see...Puscifer and APC? Fuck that. No one cares. Maynard does I'm sure...but not real prog fans and TOOL fans. What a shame

Man if I only had a little more time to plan, I would love to make another trip to Oz but April and May and chock-o-block.
Be VERY interesting to see what the sets are...

That's what I'm sayin'. Last time the Aussie's got some "You Lied" exclusivity. I'll be real bitter if they somehow get the trilogy.

I want Reflection. The trilogy would be the cream on top but Reflection alone would be worth the price of the ticket.

It's their best song, it's a shame it hasn't been in rotation.

I'd love to see them switch up the sets like they did back in '01 on back to back nights. I remember getting both versions of Pushit, Eulogy one night, and Undertow tracks being interchanged. It was amazing.

Yeah, that 2001 tour was fantastic. Sydney night 2 was perhaps my best Tool show.
As expected, when tickets for the April/May tour went on sale this morning, sell-outs within minutes and extra shows announced (for Auckland, Melb and Sydney)
Snapped up Sydney night 2 tickets. Giddy up.

I grabbed tickets to both shows as well. All three Sydney shows from the Lateralus tour were outstanding. I can't believe I was dumb enough to miss the show in Wollongong which from what I heard was great too.
The show for the 10,000 Days was solid too, but wasn't as good as any of the previous three I'd seen.

You continuously miss the point "dude". I first saw TOOL 20 years ago. I would like Maynard to have the same passion for the music as the rest of the guys, but he doesnt. I'm not sure why this is so hardfor you to grasp. Obviously this has become the spinal tap era for the band, and its sad because they were once a great band

The point is you should avoid saying things like "no one cares" and "not real prog or Tool" fans in your statements. We get that you aren't into it, but there's no need to speak for everyone else.

Hahaha same here - This will be the third tour in a row of my jetting up and down the east coast for Tool shows, and following the first tour in 2001 I was well and truely obsessed... But in 2002, when there was three other shows within driving distance of Sydney (Newcastle, Canbera, and Wollongong... Which is fucking closer to my place then Sydney was at the time FFS) I skipped them. (I was only 17, in fairness... The foolishness of youth!)
They played H in the Gong also :(

Weeknight + will have a 3 week old baby by then killed it for me, but it was my #1 preference for an interstate show this time around :(
(Relo's in Melb will be watching the little sleep vampire while I'm at the show down there)

Re: General Tool Discussion
Puscifer have just been added to the Soundwave dates in Sydney and Adelaide. Looks like I'll get to see all three bands after all!

You purposely misquoted me, which is fucking bullshit
Ive given up on the idea that TOOL is ever going to record again. Maynard has too many "acting" performances to do with puscifer, more wine(ey) shows in australia for money, and since their last album is now almost a decade old...basically a band doing covers. Such wasted talent on a singer who doesnt care

i'm going to have to think really hard the next few weeks about doing an Australia trip. A week at the absolute most though, and I'd assume Sydney x2 would be the most realistic way to pull this off. Maybe Brisbane as well, depending on cost/distance.
Puscifer/APC are a no-go for sure though, unfortunately.

Come for Tool, stay for the backwards flowing toilet water.
As a proud Sydneysider, it pains me to say but, as for the run of gigs.. Overall I'd say gun for Melbourne night 1 and/or 2, then onto Adelaide - Probably the most ideal run (Also, holding onto the slim but not impossible hope that they will debut some new live material this tour, it would be nice to be the first people in the world to hear it in Melbourne...)

I somewhat disagree. Melbourne is a better place to live, but Sydney imo is a bnetter tourist destination.
Adelaide show shouldn't be missed though as it's the smallest venue on tour, and the only one with decent tickets still available!

Absolutely agree Melbourne is the better city to live, Sydney is the better city to visit... Melbourne has Lord of the Fries, we don't. (Those BASTARDS)
I'm talking purely for the best logistical run for an oversee visitor - Factoring in the ticket availability and the A.E.C's intimacy.
At work for 5 hours before ducking down to the airport and hopping up to Brissy for Puscifer... And after a mostly slow week, shit is blowing up in my face everywhere... Typical.

You say that like it's some kind of insult. I have no problems being a fanboi, and while you're sulking at home lamenting a lack of new album, I'll be out enjoying myself.

I was a huge fan, back in TOOL's epic days between Undertow and Lateralus. Danny Carey is still, even without a new album, worth the price of a TOOL ticket just to watch him play. He's one of the very best to ever pick up some polyrythmic wood..and yes ive seen TOOL 4 times over this elongated tour with 10,000 days
Maynard is no longer interested in writing lyrics for TOOL...not only that, he's no longer interested in even making an album with them. Thats whats dissapointing. We have talented musicians who are held back because of the singer. Why does Maynard think he made this band? It wasnt him...it was the other guys who created this beautiful monstrosity. Maynard needs to realize who baked his bread

You're only as good as your front man. Show me a great band with a shitty front man, and I'll show you a shitty band.

Maynard closed out the APC set yesterday by saying "See you bastards in May!" ... Struck me as very odd to have him acknowledging Tool (even fleetingly) while onstage with APC.
PS - He's killed it at every show with APC and Puscifer so far - His voice is in GREAT form, much better than I expected.
