I have put some of my songs up on Soundclick. Any comments/criticism is welcome. Im just looking for feedback.
Of Fire and Light - My favorite of my tracks. 8 minutes. Heavy, soft, trippy, melodic, stoner. All that jazz.
Siren Song - Queens of the Stone Age like track. More aggressive. Different from anything I've ever written.
Nil - Toolish. To much so for my liking, but it was written in 2002 when I was REALLY into Lateralus.
So take a listen and drop me a line.

Ok my favorite of course is Nil. Yeah it's very Toolish, but I like Tool, so I definitely like this. I would be happy if Tool had released this song.
Siren Song - very heavy and interesting. Slightly hearing the queens of the stone age thing, but yeah much heavier.
Of Fire and Light - Reminds me of Dream Theatre a bit. I liked the song quite a bit, but loved how you ended it.

Pretty nice. Y'all sound tight and well rehearsed (of course assuming there are more than on of you)
You should work on your name cause it sucks. Assiah? Is it like a messiah's ass, or an ass so good it brings the messiah (like Vida Guerra)?

Very good sounding stuff. Brilliantly produced (although you've compressed Siren Song way too much). Nil is actually my least favourite song of the three, it goes along in the same groove that is like Tool but not quite as interesting, and I think that's my one criticism of your stuff, alot of the parts seem a little forced maybe? While it's well written and well put together, bits of it don't feel very inspired sometimes.
Also, Tape Dispenser is right, while a name doesn't mean anything to the music, there are still good and bad names and I think Assiah is a bad name :P

Hello. Thanks for the feedback. Good and bad, all is usefull.
Im still not completely happy with the name. Just so you know. In qabalistic terms, Assiah is the "material world" the world in which we live and the world in which --ideas take their physical form--. Thats why I chose it. I didn't even notice that it unfortunately had the word ass in it. Which, I'm sure, is the first thing other people see. Ohh well, im sure it will change when I actually find a band. Its just me for now.
Thanks

Don't misunderstand, I love to joke(with the good day to you sir thing).
The drums are (of course) programmed and not being a drummer myself, its really hard to make them sound full enough while at the same time being realistic.
As far as the song goes, like I said, I am really not comfortable with it sounding so Tool-like, thus its my least favorite(though, it seems to be the favorite of others).
I actually thought about not posting that song at all.
Anyway, thanks for listening........and good day to you sir!

i dont think it sounds like tool other than the intro. so dont worry about that. I loved "of fire and light" i heard all those influences you were talking about, and i especially loved the moment when the guitars slammed back in after the guy that was talking. do you have lyrics written i can read along with?

I suppose.......just for you. I have never posted them and they probably won't make any sense. Thanks for listening btw.
The guys at the first say something to the effect of:
"when a government negates the law of God,
it abrogates its authority.
when a government commands that which is contrary to the law of God,
it abrogates its authority."
"for we have been taught, that the chief end of man, is to glorify God"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do we reach beyond limits of language?
How do we utter of unspoken word?
When truth rides the wings of the infinite boundaries,
chasing the dream in which two become one.
Ignite.
Catch Fire.
And let us burn with the fires of the sun.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
P.S. And damnit, those lyrics were written before 10,000 days and Jambi were out. I'll take that to the grave!!!!

I hate soundclick. Shit never works for me, so I'd appreciate it if you make a myspace or purevolume as I am willing to lend an ear.

Hey. Thank you all for the kind words.
Umm...
1. Yes, I use the original Drumkit from Hell. I would LOVE to use Superior, but unfortunately my machine just couldnt handle it.
2. Tyro. Try www.songplanet.com/assiah. The sound quality is a bit better than myspace. I fricking hate what myspace does to my recordings. BUT, if that doesnt work then go to www.myspace.com/shinband
Again, thanks for taking the time out to listen.

i like Of Fire and Light, it belnds many styles together nicley. However, I found Siren Song to be a run of the mill rock song, and it didn't really get me grooving and shaking.

tool, pink floyd, kyuss and qotsa; some of my favorite bands ever, and your sound definitely lives up to them! i like what i've heard so far, great influences to build a band upon and i think you did a great job of making your own sound on top of that
oh one other thing, i like the drums, they don't sound bad for being programmed, what program did you use

Hey thanks for checking it out!
Drums are programmed using "Drumkit from Hell" the original. They are eq'ed, compressed, and I added reverb. Though, if I were thinking about getting a new drum sample library, I would get the newest which is Drumkit from Hell Superior. Its fricking awesome.
Btw, I think you are the only one who has commented positvely on the drums......ever... heheheh. Real drums would be a very welcome addtion, but are absolutely not feasible right now.

Not my kind of stuff, but you guys sound really, really slick and professional. Walk into a record company and let them beg you to sign with them.
