Hid from the kings mountain view
Hid from the wild dream come true
Feast like a sultan I do
On treasures and flesh never few
But I, I would wish it all away
If I thought I'd lose you just one day
The Devil and his had me down
In love with the dark side I’d found
Dabbling all the way down
Up to my neck soon to drown
But you changed that all for me
Lifted me up, turned me ‘round
So I...
I…
I…
I…
I would,
I would,
I would wish this all away.
Prayed like a martyr dusk to dawn
Begged like a hooker all night long
Tempted the Devil with my song
And got what I wanted all along.
But I…
I would if I could
I would wish it away
Wish it away
Wish it all away
I’d wish it all away
No prize you could hold [could hold] sway
Or justify my kneeling away, my sentence…
So if I could I’d wish it all away
If I thought tomorrow would take you away
You’re my peace of mind, my all,
I said I’m just trying to hold on one more day.
Dim my eyes!
Dim my eyes!
Dim my eyes if they should compromise a hope of wanting the divine need
Then I might as well be gone.
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the broken
Shine until the two become one
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the sinners
Shine until the two become one
Divide and wither it away
Divide and wither it away
Shine down upon the many,
Light our way benevolent sun.
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
So, as one, survive another day in season
(Silently just save your poison?) or (Silence leech and save your poison?)
Silently just stay out of my way.

I am fairly certain that no one has gotten this correct yet. My closest guess is this:
"Dim my eyes if they should compromise our fulcrum
Wants and needs divide me thin
I might as well be gone"
I'm almost positive that the first line is correct, because he talks about division into two elsewhere in the song, and the related story about Jambi being divided in two by a river. The river would be that fulcrum. I'm sure it would work on the as-yet-undiscussed metaphorical level as well, however that line of interpretation develops.
The other two lines I'm not as sure of, except for the words 'divide me' and 'I might as well be gone.' He may say something like, 'Once our needs divide me then I might as well be gone.' Nothing else I've seen posted has made enough sense to really be a worthwhile lyric, including the one I quoted. They have all sounded awkward and forced.

Here, I'm almost certain that he says 'legion' or 'legions.' To the tune of:
"Silent legions, say your poison,
Silent legions, stay out of my way."
Again, this makes sense in the context of the song, both from the sultan's perspective of his own people's failure to rise up against Dutch oppression, and probably on a personal level with Maynard's frustration against American apathy.

For what its worth, im pretty sure he says "Damn my eyes", not "Dim my eyes".
"Damn my eyes" makes more sense in the context of the following lyrics.

my initial thought was that it was "damn" but on closer listens especially the last time he says it, pretty sure it is dim.

I think maybe the lines :
You’re my peace of mind, my all,
I said I’m just trying to hold on one more day.
...should be :
You’re my peace of mind, my all, my sentence
Just trying to hold on one more day.
...referencing the line earlier where he says "my sentence". I could be wrong about that, but it really seems like he's saying "my (something)", rather than "I said".

I think he's also saying "divided and withering away" near the end there, instead of "divide and wither it away."

Also , I think the last lines are
"So, as one survive another day in season.
Sigh, lest legions say your poison
Sigh, lest legions stay and run my way."
This makes sense when considering he's saying "Breathe in Union" just prior. Sounds to me like he's describing breathing techniques for meditation.

I think it's "here from" in the first two sentences and i also think it's Dim and not damn my eyes. Also, in this part
But I…
I would if I could
I would wish it away
Wish it away
Wish it all away
I’d wish it all away
^
The last line i think is "Want to wish it all away"
I also think where it says "my sentence," he is saying center. The first time its referenced, you can definately hear center. The second time i think it's center but not 100% certain. I listened to it several times and though i cannot say for sure it's center, i can say for sure that its not sentence.
So if I could I’d wish it all away
If I thought tomorrow would take you away
You’re my peace of mind, my (all)
(I said) I’m just trying to hold on one more day.
(all) i think is home
(i said) i know he says my and not i but i cant figure out the next word.
As posted by SpiralPath, this is definetely right
"Dim my eyes if they should compromise our fulcrum
Wants and needs divide me thin
I might as well be gone"
And last, i agree with Octave's interpretation of the last 3 lines but think he says before that,"divided withering away"
Took 20 mins to make this post but i did it!

It sounds like he's saying
"You’re my peace of mind, my (all), (my saturn) just trying to hold on one more day."
He references saturn alot in his lyrics, even in lateralus. I'm not sure what connotations that has, but it seems to be a consistency he holds to alot, for some reason. I'm gonna look into that more.

ah... here we go. According to wikipedia "Saturn was called "the Bringer Of Old Age" in Alan Leo's What is a Horoscope? and is considered to represent the part of a person concerned with long-term planning."
I'm almost positive now that Maynard wrote this song for his son.

it very well could be saturn. I was never dead set on center because i just couldn't justify it. However, why would maynard write a song like this about his son? That is what i dont understand. What would make maynard think about losing his son? As a parent, i dont go around thinking about what would happen if i lost my child and i dont think many other parents do either.

Well, consider the kind of life he has. He's a rock mega-star. I don't think that makes for alot of time to spend with his son, especially considering he's the lead singer of two huge bands and going on lengthy world tours. "But I would wish it all away, if I thought I'd lose you just one day."
I'd be worried about that too, if I were him.

Recap:
Here from the king's mountain view
Here from the wild dream come true
Feast like a sultan I do
On treasures and flesh never few
But I, I would wish it all away
If I thought I'd lose you just one day.
The Devil and his had me down
In love with the dark side I’d found
Dabbling all the way down
Up to my neck soon to drown
But you changed that all for me
Lifted me up, turned me ‘round
So I...
I…
I…
I…
I would,
I would,
I would wish this all away.
Prayed like a martyr, dusk to dawn
Begged like a hooker all night long
Tempted the Devil with my song,
And got what I wanted all along.
But I…
I would if I could
I would wish it away
Wish it away
Wish it all away
I’d wish it all away
No prize here could hold sway
Or justify my kneeling away, my Saturn…
So if I could I’d wish it all away
If I thought tomorrow would take you away
You’re my peace of mind, my all, my Saturn,
just trying to hold on one more day.
Damn my eyes!
Damn my eyes!
Damn my eyes, if they should compromise a fool for all wants and needs-
Divide me, then I might as well be gone.
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the broken
Shine until the two become one
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the sinners
Shine until the two become one
Divided and withering away
Divided and withering away
Shine down upon the many,
Light our way benevolent sun.
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
So as one, survive another day in season
Sigh, lest legions say your poison
Sigh, lest legions stay and run my way.

I’d wish it all away
No prize here could hold sway
Or justify my kneeling away, my Saturn…
So if I could I’d wish it all away
If I thought tomorrow would take you away
You’re my peace of mind, my all, my Saturn,
just trying to hold on one more day.
Damn my eyes!
Damn my eyes!
Damn my eyes, if they should compromise a fool for all wants and needs-
Divide me, then I might as well be gone.
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the broken
Shine until the two become one
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the sinners
Shine until the two become one
Divided and withering away
Divided and withering away
Shine down upon the many,
Light our way benevolent sun.
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
Breathe in union
So as one, survive another day in season
Sigh, lest legions say your poison
Sigh, lest legions stay and run my way.

It's totally "save your poison." I don't think Maynard would have a lyric about "saying" your poison. It would be a different form of delivery.

Could be right about that. Hard to tell at this point. I hope they release the offical lyrics soon.

I think Maynard has said he likes to toss the lyrics out about a month after the release.

I totally think this song is Maynard kickin' back sippin a cup of coffee while is son (maybe 3 or 4 at the time) was watchin Pee Wee's Playhouse. Maybee\ he was getting excited as children do, and Maynard was just enjoying the moment so much, that he decided to write a song about the love for his son. I too have a son, and I often fear what it would be like to loose him too... So after he captured his emotion, he thought of a title and who was on the screen but 'Jambi'... Maybe huh? Also, maybe since he had just lost his mother, he was feeling vulnerable about loosing someone else whom he loved so much. This song could have been written 2 or 3 years ago lyrically anyway...

other than wanting to add that i dont think i'll look at this guessing game any more untill the real lyrics are released on toolband. theres just so many differant opinions it doesnt seem to be getting any where and i'm pleased with my own untill then.
oh by the way if any one is interested hot topic already has the tool album in their stores they cant sell it yet, but this bitch said the day it go'es on sale it's supposed to be like 10 bucks there she said it in a way that made me think she wasnt suppose to say anything.
they had one opened and let us look at it theres some really silly pic's in it, and 3D glasses conected to the case that makes all of them look really trippy.
she was one of those tard's with hot pink n purple hair dressed from head to toe in hot topic paraphenilia all rightious and opinionated about the decoy album theory, and said she hated rosetta stoned because of the "goddamn shit the bed" line i guess she found it offensive or some shit???
of all tool songs to feel offended by she picks that??? i just dont understand. what about prison sex? or, 4degrees??? not offended but rosetta stoned bugs you what a fucking stupid cunt!
and this will really bug you.... she got a ticket... well, it bugged the fuck outa me. goddamnit im offended!

I'm getting into the Devo theory of Jambi. Benevolent sun/son?
Also, I still think it's "leech and" and not "legion".

how the hell does that place in indonesia relate to this song at all?
i read the myth and legend part, and i don't see ANYTHING that would link the two thematically.. i'm not saying the title is a reference to the pee-wee's playhouse genie per se, but it makes a lot more sense than naming it after some random place in indonesia.

actually the pee-wee one makes the most sense to me.. but i don't necessarily think it's right.. i can just make more connections with it than the place in indonesia.

at first i thought this song might be in reference to his mother. but the son theory does sound good. i dont see a connection to jambi indonasia other than "kings mountain view" "feast like a sultan i do, on pleasures and/of flesh never few." possibly this kind of "feast" could represent maynards life as this "rockstar"
and "wild dream come true" makes sence in that, i know being a singer in 2 bands would be my wildest dream...well....nvm that...
and i think its "jam my eyes" which would make sence if you remember his reference to the "kings mountain view" which i see as a representation of maynards level of sucess thus far. so if he is saying that if tomorrow would mean him losing his son he would give everything up to avoid that...then jaming your fingers into your eyes in an attempt to blot it all out would make sence in the metaphoric sence.

After reading what's out there, I still think there are a few questionable parts. However, I think this is the most accurate set of lyrics for Jambi. Take a look.
JAMBI
Here from the king's mountain view
Here from the wild dream come true
Feast like a sultan I do
On treasures in flesh, never few
But I... I would
Wish it... all away
If I... thought I’d
Lose you… just one day
The devil and his had me down
In love with the dark side I’d found
Dabbling all the way down
Up to my neck soon to drown
But you changed that all for me
Lifted me up turned me ‘round
So I... I... I... I...
I would, I would, I would
Wish this all away
Prayed like a father does till dawn
Begged like a hooker all night long
Tempted the devil with my song
And got what I wanted all along
But I, I would, if I could, I would
Wish it away, wish it away
Wish it all away, Wanna wish it all away
No prize here could hold, sway, or justify
My kneeling away my sin and…
So if I could I’d wish it all away
If I thought tomorrow would take you away
You’re my piece of my mind, my all
I said I’m just trying to hold on one more day
Dim my eyes
Dim my eyes
Dim my eyes if they should
Compromise all hope, or our wants and needs
If I believed it, I might as well be gone!
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the broken
Shine until the two become one
Shine on forever
Shine on benevolent sun
Shine down upon the severed
Shine until the two become one
Divided I'm withering away
Divided I’m withering away
Shine down upon the many
Light our way benevolent sun
Breathe in union (x5)
So as one, survive
Another day and season
Silence, leech, and save your poison
Silence leech, just stay out of my way!

my initial impression was "pray" but after reading a lot of people say "breathe" i listened for it, and i definitely hear the "th" sound on at least a couple of instances of it.. and this is one of those situations where either word makes sense to me, so i'm just going to wait til the official lyrics come out.
