A little heavier they say. Didn't Dream Theater do that, and didn't Metallica do that? Didn't those both turn out shitty? Weren't both those bands a little older when they tried this?

Fuck.

Uhh Metallica was more heavy before they did Load or any of their newer shit. Also, Dream Theater sucks.

I'm talking about St. Anger, they were more or less trying to get more powerful in St. Anger. To proove they still had "it".

I enjoy Dream Theater, but I don't really care if you don't.

I think it will be heavier, musically, but it won't be one of those talentless bands that screams and growls the vocals instead of actually singing them.

And as far as the producer goes, I don't think Tool would pick someone they did not like or could not do a great job.
I believe using that logic, this next album should sound like Fiaap de Oiad.

His logic was probably last "real" song, (Don't start the whole huge argument about what a song is, you know what I mean.) because Disgustipated is technically the last song on Undertow but he noted Flood.

if their heavy songs are of the same standards and quality as "The grudge"......the album will definitely rock.

it's been funny to watch how paranoid everyone is about the new tool release. I mean, it's understandable, with how often a band jumps the shark and puts out a shitty ablum. But correct me if I'm wrong, tool is nothing like metallica, dream theatre, or any other band I've ever come across. Metallica was about being a rock star, getting drunk, and rocking out. DT's about incredible skills as a musician (whether or not this makes good music is a different topic). But tool, well, they seem to have a purpose, they're trying to do soemthing with their music. It's not about the image, the money, the groupies, or any of that shit. It's about the music and the connection with those who listen, and a lot more. They're the only band I feel I can trust to put out a good release.

I invision some kind of mix between Lateralus (the heavier parts) and Undertow, which puts me in need of a napkin.

Maybe because he was working on the DVD and they want the DVD to be out before the album??

Well... Do you think there's going to be an 'anger' song on this album too?

Because, there was one single song on all of Tool's albums that was sort of directed towards a person (or thing) showing their hatred/anger about that person. No matter how irrelevant that song was.

Jerk off in opiate, swamp in undertow, hooker with a penis in Ænima, and ticks and leeches in Lateralus (which is the one that I think was the most irrelevant to rest of the album).

very interesting! i noticed the same thing too.

personally, i kinda thought it was "hush" on opiate (just in context with the video), and never fully pinned down one hate song on undertow. but swamp song and jerk-off make perfect sense.

That would pair up with the "sickeningly heavy" comment nicely well indeeeeeed.
