That's what is sounds like to me....anyone else catch the similarities? I've only listened to the whole thing once, but that's all I could think of since the second track.
Also, the riff Adam plays in Wings for Marie is a little interlude thing I've heard and I'm sure you've all heard if you've ever been to a tool concert..he plays it inbetween a number of songs live...

Anyways, I'm liking it so far, though it'll take time to digest.

Appreciate anyones thoughts on the Pink Floyd comparison.

and to all nay sayers...

Justin's bass in Jambi, and Adams guitar in Right In Two remind me of The Wall. Other than that, I'm glad it shares no other similarities - I can't stand floyd albums which Roger Waters was the lead singer : )

Might as well be David Gilmour singing Marie/10kd Friggin beautifully done.

I always held Pf and tool in the same light. Both prog, both into the depths of ones mind. Friggin powerful stuff.

Yep, but at 5:23 - 5:44 in Right in Two , it screams "Ode to Tom Morello" Which is bad ass!

Theres a boat load of similiarities between Floyd and this album. "Shine on" Refrences, DG vocals in Marie/10kd, Meddle sounding riffs in the same songs. "Divided I wither away" ....PF - " together we stand, devided we fall"

Sorry.

As for the future, Carey is confident that fans won’t be left destitute for another five years. In fact, Tool already has an album’s worth of undeveloped material leftover from Lateralus. "I could see the next record coming in two or three years," he says, "unless we take on something huge, like try to do the next Wall. Which is a possibility... I think we’re the ones to step up and do that."

and I think they did it if you ask me...including leaving us destitute for another five years!

As much as I love Tool and PF both, I dont think anything will boot "The Wall" out of it's position just yet, but I do beleive, if anyone is going to do it, it will be Tool.

What made the Wall ironic is the story it told, and how it was basically the 'Roger Waters'story. It was one of the first albums ever to tell a story, and that is what made it great.
This album, without a doubt, is great, but even though there may be things that fit into the same thing as The Wall, it is nothing like it. It doesnt tell a story.

Maybe because the wall was mostly written by Waters, and 10k days speaks mostly of maynard.

Anyway, who cares...

The pink floyd live at pompei concert had no audience. Just a film crew.

Yeah, Dogs.

I'm heavily reminded of Dogs during Jambi, if just for the guitar solo with the guitary-speaky thing.

'Echoes Part I' in Live in Pompeii has to be my favourite Floyd groove.

Love "10,000 Days," and love "The Wall," but having a hard time seeing the similarities. Roger Waters definitely influences "Jambi" and "Right In Two," however.

For me, Wings For Marie/10,000 Days has a Pink Floyd feel to it, as do some of the slower parts of Right In Two...

I'm just so glad that a band like Tool exists and can produce songs that go for over 7 minutes without sounding repetitive and boring.

I love Wings/10,000 Days and Right In Two - both epic and classic! Can't wait for this to be played live. From 5:20 onwards in Right In Two will be so awesome live and I've got a feeling they might do something extended with it like they have with Eulogy, Pushit, Stinkfist, Reflection etc. in the past. I am so looking forward to seeing them perform this whole new album live!

Obviously, Wings/10,000 Days will be a standout live as wel...

But yes, back to the point, Tool and 10,000 Days remind me in parts of Pink Floyd etc.
