Fade OUT? Are we sure?

The eight-or-so-minute track fades out after six-or-so-minutes and leaves us with two-or-so-minutes of silence before the endtrack Faaip. But how sure are we that it fades out?

Rachelle says: "
for me, recorded silence speaks louder than sounds" and in the light of cost vs product, that makes total sense.

Chris says: "
if you had two equal and opposite waves, they would cancel each other out" unless they would just combine to make white noise, in the sense that white light is a combination of all the colours of the visible spectrum.

Lateralus tends to have a lot to do with light. Light waves and sound waves have different frequencies, don't they? Isn't that why we see light and hear sound? But that isn't to say that light couldn't be recorded onto a CD. Wait, I think I'm digressing a little too far now. So I'll just re-pose the question:

Are we sure that it fades out? ...and not in?

Well, yeah, but do you know what I mean? Is there maybe (a) something other than sound there? (b) two equal and opposite waves of sound? (c) just silence?

Re: Fade OUT? Are we sure?

The song fades in at the start, and ends abruptly. Dosent that seem backwards to anyone else? What if you play tirade backwards after reflection. Just pretend it's a "reflection" of disposition. Who knows, maybe those sereems are backward lyrics.

By the way, I came up with this on the spot so don't blame me if it's wrong.

Also you would have to start it when the silence ends.

Re: Fade OUT? Are we sure?

If we reversed it it would start loudly right after reflection and then fade out.

This is true, you can hear Adam playing the final guitar riff at the end of the song and then it stops.

Re: Fade OUT? Are we sure?

Yes but if we played it backwards from where it stops it might do something cool. The other two parts sound cool backwards, why shouldn't this one? Also I don't know how to reverse it so someone eles needs to do it unless no one cares.
