Awesome.
That means that the album is coming very very soon if the Pigmys expect to be touring sometime in the future. And of course...Tool needs a new album to tour again!
That's great.
Maybe Teleincision/Aug 16th is real after all!!

yeah.
to be serious, this is legitimate news, and i am very very excited to hear that tool has plans to tour THIS year. that really does mean that, basically, we'll see a new album by september and they'll tour during the late-fall/winter season.
the band has been doing a fantastic job of keeping their progress secretive.

Sept. is fine by me.
Yeah, Tool has to be hiding something. I have a feeling this might just be for the reason that this will be their best yet, by far, if possible, like I said before. That would make my year. Can't wait to see em live!
What's a concert like when its cold? And if you play inside a building...it would echo, right?

No. Ive been to concerts both inside and out, and I prefer inside..but only if its a smaller venue..like when I saw the strokes i was right in the very front and it sounds better then being outside...but TOOL obviously wont be playing smaller venues...

I don't see how this is significant news. Most bands tour shortly after they release an album (shocking, I know). If they tour at the end of the year, the album still could come out this October, which is my guess.
Why is every little tool news story taken to be significant ground-breaking news?
"Tool finishes album, plans to tour"
HOLY SHIT! Tool is planning to tour after this album. That's amazing; anyone else hear the news?

Have you seriously never been to a concert inside??
It doesn't echo too much, places that bands play are usually designed with accoustics in mind.

I know many bands who don't tour, even if they release an album.
By the way, I don't care if they are touring or not. I heard they suck LIVE!

I heard they were really good live. They get good review and they're ranked pretty high here:

How come people feel the need to bash other people's hopes down and piss all over anything anyone says?
I'm excited about this... How come the Pigmy's are the first to release some solid info, though? I met them at Tower records once (minus Danny, cause he was "busy"... which sucked balls), and they seemed like a pretty cool group of guys. All very large and hairy. So I trust this info.

I've been to two boarding for breast cancer shows at Lake Tahoe, and they're outside on the side of a mountain covered in snow. Pretty wild and fun, nothing like mosh pit on ice, although the snow balls are kinda annoying after a while.
As for inside, it really depends on the venue, but most good venus have at least decent accoustics. It also depends on the sound crew and how well they do their job that night. I've seen tool in a few different arenas, and they always have great sound. If you've never seen them, go. Go at all costs and go to as many shows as you can around you.
And this news is awesome. Tool's touring this year, and PLC soon after? PLC also working on a new album? Shit, it doesn't get much better than that. I saw PLC at a club here in Seattle, and they were fucking awesome. After the show, the whole band took a short break, then came out into the bar and just hung out and drank with everyone who was still around. Really fucking cool guys.

You trust the info because Pygmy Love Circus is large and hairy...
Isn't that kind of a contradiction of itself? I wouldn't trust them if I were you.

Yes, but my logic works for me. Actually, I just kinda rambled in that post, so it looked stupid. I get what I mean, and thats all that matters.

Fuck, I confused them with NOFX.
By the way their Eating Lamb/Heavy Petting Zoo -original cover kicks ass. It's fucking hilarious. Better not post it. Might get banned.

Age is no excuse. I can understand it if you live in no-mans-land, otherwise I've been going voluntarily since I was 13. (if i remember correctly)

Arena shows probably are safer for the newbies, but I prefer the small club/bar shows. After going to the smaller shows I just have a hard time justifying going to a place that is so big. I'm passing up the NIN/QOTSA and TMV shows becuase they are going through arenas and I have seen all of them before in a smaller setting and it becomes a lot less personal and just lacking in the "vibe" you get from the band and the audience.

Haha. I went to this rock-festival when I was 15. I was teo days there. Wasn't even my first concert. I had seen some bands before that. Every other year I go to that festival. Every even year since 15 I have been there and always will.

Well, whatever, I can't pass up both of them, gonna try like hell to go to at least 1. I love NIN, and SOAD and TMV is a killler line-up. Plus, the smaller venues'd probably sell out faster. Sucks its 40-somethin bucks for either, when i went to see primus i only paid 35... well, no use bitchin bout 5 bucks i guess

Go to a lesser known band. I saw Fantomas in April and they didn't sell out at all. Maybe Coloradans don't like Fantomas, I dunno. Tool is hard to get tickets for no matter what. I hope they [Tool] do what NIN did and play small venues, except play more of them.

All bands should only play clubs/bars/ampitheaters. Arenas should be left to the Back Street Boys, Britney Spears acts and sporting events. Shall we start a petition?

Thanks for the advice, c4nnon, just looked into the difference in price of SOAD and reel big fish. 24 bucks. Shit. I can probably get into some lesser known bands for free, but my sis'd have to be in town and working the venue (this'll probably happen once or twice more this year). Any other tips for a concert newbie?
