My original inclination was that the site was created by some non-Tool dude, but think- They know we're on to their stupid rumors and fake things, so maybe they 'bought' the site under a different account/name for that purpose.

2. when zoomed into 1600% the background, in fact, does NOT have the 45 degree angled gradient, however, when you examine the edges of the logo, it is obvious that someone (and an amatuer at that) has cut out the logo from a screenshot of toolband.com, specifically in regards to the "T" on the top left corner.
