i downloaded the mars volta leak, but with the new tool album its different, i will have to hear all new tool for the first time alone with my discman on cd, on the day. i want to hear few reviews or spoilers or clips and bits and bobs.

I would not download it the longer i wait the more i'll enjoy the first listen. The rush of buying the album the first day rushing home to listen to it will be fun.

I don't. I have one copy of them all; except I just made a backup of Lateralus a few weeks ago because I noticed that my real one was a little scratched.

However I am weak and would give in and download the cd before it came out...then buy the cd 3 times...cause I always lose shit (I've bought all of tool's cd's 2-3 times each)

I would download it in a heartbeat. The sooner I can hear it, the better. We have all been waiting an eternity for it. HOWEVER, I will be buying several copies for myself and friends when it does eventually come out.

The reason I may possibly be a geek and buy 3 copies is because I allways scratch them up really bad or drop the case and snap it, which why I need 1 more.. or 1 to look at, I dunno.. It'll help them in the UK album charts aswell.

I'll buy. They're just one of those bands that I respect enough to go out and buy the damn album. On the other hand, I will download the music video single(s), b/c we all know they'll be a damn long away from being put onto video release.

Because I am a big T00L fan and want people around me to be able to enjoy their music as much as I do. Plain and simple.

I just don't like it. The band themselves admit it was kind of rushed. And it sounds like it was. I don't like the lyrics, the structures, or the themes. In fact, I pretty much think of Opiate as Emo-Tool. Opiate=harvesting your crops before they've fully matured, to put it another way. Bammer.

I'll put it to you like this: There are pieces of the album that I can stand. But not any whole tracks off of the whole thing. Plus there's the burn-out factor. I had a friend/room mate who had that tape in his car, and the disc in the house. And he played it all the time. I didn't like it before that, and now I pretty much hate it. And as much as I love Tool, I refuse to buy it or own it. Heh. Take that Maynard.

I just feel that Opiate was Tool's premature ejaculation. All the themes/issues that were dealt with on that album were far more expanded upon, in a clearer, and much more badass musical way on the following albums, IMO. I dunno, just how I see it.
