Yeah, I understand what you're saying. I just don't think any songs will be directly political. I'm not sure though. We'll see in a couple weeks.

Kabir, when are we going to hear your HWAP/The Pot rant song as a reply to some of the posters here over the past few hours?

It was also interesting to hear some expansion on what the political elements might be.
Perahps "10,000 days in the fire is long enough" is an occulpation reference.
And the point the finger quote, & the pot.
Maybe the politics is a little more apparent on this album!

I just woke up and read the review. I am so psyched that I may not be able to concentrate at work today. I can't recall this level of excitement and anticipation for an album. I'm glad that I am alive at this point in history to experience this band.

I agree with this since Kabir said he understood the reference immediately with additional lyrics. Then again, maybe he knows alot about what band members have gone through or their interests.

Jesus christ.
The political element wasn't the reason that eMotive was not very good. The reason was the music

I don't think the whole album would be political. But that lyric may elude to our situation.
We'll have to see.
I wouldn't be crazy about the whole album being political (but I don't think it will be)

Well, if the title track has that lyric, i guess theres a decent chance other tracks will allude to that theme too. The title track on Tool albums seems to be some sort of focal point around which the theme/motif revolves to a greater or lesser extent. (Undertow expresses this most clearly i think, the whole negative water vibe).

I wouldn't worry about the political overtones. I remember reading a quote from Danny stating that this album does have some political ideas, but that they wanted to keep it vague (timeless) so it wouldn't be irrelivant a few years down the road.
Being that this album has been described by the band as 'more personal', I'd say that there would have to be some political ideas here.

Viginti Tres is a segue?
A quote from Kabir's review,"And so, it was time for 'Viginti Tres.' But my host was running late for dinner, and I was as well. It's another segue, I was told."
It's the last song on the album. I think one of the band members was quoted somewhere as saying it was the "walk-out" track. Maybe there's a hidden song!?! An unnamed jam!?!

I believe both comments I referenced to were in the french magazine interview.
Personally, I would love to hear their take on the path our world is taking in general. Being as thoughtful and insightful as they are I imagine they'll have some things to say that many people need to hear. There were many political songs that came out in the 60's that really helped change the course of our country. I feel like our current global climate is ripe for some new ideas and new ways of thinking.

I'm not that worried, its just I have an unreasonable (musical) fear of emotive, in the way a child is scared of the boogeyman. I'm confidant it will turn out for the best, though :) APC and Tool are very different beasts.
