OK I've just listened to my brand new copy of 10'000 days after purchasing it early this afternoon here in Sydney and I have something to tell you all............
there isn't a single track on this album apart from Vicarious that I have heard before.
Now I downloaded what I thought to be 10'000 days the day of the leak. I knew it wasn't quite right as the tracklistings didn't appear to match up with the songs and some of the descriptions which I'd read on this site didn't seem right either.
For example Vicarious wasn't on it and none of the track lengths were the same. I hadn't bothered to read lyrics that were posted here as I didn't want to fully immerse myself in the music until I had the real deal, if I had I probably would have realised that I had something different.
I was firmly in the hoax camp after first listening to the download and as it turns out I was right, as I sure others of the same opinion are, although some of you appeared to have the real deal and still went for the hoax theory.
But yeah, I strongly suspect that those of you out there who supported the hoax theory had downloaded the same music I did, and those who disagreed with us had the real deal.
So the question is what the hell is this downloaded CD which I've been listening to for the past 2 weeks?
And for the record blown away with what I've just heard!

Counterfist maybe? I heard someone put that up as 10,000 Days because of the similarities to tool.

Now I want to know what the fake stuff you downloaded was... Honestly, what other band could possibly be mistaken for Tool?

I dunno but its got me fooled. I,ve been listening to these guys for 13 years and although its kinda a departure from their usual sound I'm sure its them.
I got it on the day of the leak from bit torrent. Thousands others must have it too.

The leaked version i have sounds very much like tool. Each of their albums have a different sound. This album rocks. It hasn't officially dropped here (waiting until tuesday may 2nd). All of the songs that i have make me believe this is the official release. And i will not be upset the slightest on tuesday when i get home and my copy has all the same songs on it. Track 5 on the leaked version (The Pot) is quite possibly my favorite song on the cd, and is in the top few favorite songs by tool (46 & 2 and the grudge being my favorites now).
Buy yeah i am currious as to what you are listening to as well that could be mistaken for tool. I mean i guess one or 2 songs could sound similar to tool...but no band could pull off an entire album like tool.

Well first, you have to be entirely unfamiliar with Tool. Then you have to download ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING and assume it's Tool because someone put "10,000 Days" into the torrent's filename. Then you have to listen and pretend to half-ass accept it as "Tool" (band you've never heard before), but insist on the inherent skepticism which will pigeonhole you into this toolnavy fanbase. And as for the answer to what he HAS been listening to? Well, either the ACTUAL Tool album and he's unsuccessfully trying to "fool" retards into believing the new album is different from the leak -- or Disturbed.

No, thats an actual track.
I got a few fake things when I went looking for 10k days. One was blank noise, one was some acoustical douche, but there was one that rocked, and almost sounded like tool, I still have it on my computer b/c it wasn't that bad, but it only took a few minutes to realize it wasn't tool.
If the songs you have don't sync with the lyrics that have been posted you don't have the actual thing. I don't know a simpler way to help anyone out with this.

When I first DLed Wings For Marie, I got some crappy metal song that just had this guy screaming "UP DOWN!" over and over again... Obviously I knew it was wrong and found the right one.

heres an attempt at the lyrics on the first track. Listed as vicarious but obviously not. Maybe someone will recognise it.
"You may not be just where you want to but you found that better way
Once again you start with questions and I ain't got ( unintelligible )
So because you came without me, why, you're talking to the wrong guy
Not only have I never (unintelligible)...........on my own
but I don't are what you need or believe in
I know you don't or won't ever understand why its so hard to feel something new
I'm here and I swear , yes I promise you forever, remember the one who got the best of yoooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuu
Something simple, something said, made you............................"
thats as far as I got

I've got that album. They are a good band. They are obviously inspired by tool, but I wouldn't say they are a rip off. They just like tool, and they do their thing. Nothing wrong with it.

LOL, yeah I just checked out this Counterfist band. They're not all that bad but, for anyone to think that was Tool and claim to be a fan should be banned from TDN. I could tell immediately it wasn't Tool, nor Maynard's vocals..lol
