Did you ever do lights for APC previously? I just ask because I remember there was this one really cool setup they used back in 2003 or 2004, it was like a bunch of these fiberoptic lights twisted around poles onstage and made to look like glowing trees that grew up into the rafters... I thought that was so cool. Just curious if you maybe had something to do with that also.
Thanks for all your work with Tool. Xcel Center this summer was lots of fun.
I didn't design or operate any of the previous APC tours, but I was on the last tour in 2004.
On that tour I was one of the lighting crew and one of my main jobs was to assemble those fiber optic trees every day. They looked kinda cool, but were a major pain in the ass to set up.

Just watched Carson Daily - thanks again for that tip BTW
Lights and stage look cool.
The Noose sounded good.
Interesting to hear MJK talk about struggling vocally especially with MDN.
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."
Watched the cd live show this morning. Maynard says I cant do it anymore my voice is TOAST . I found it interesting how he explained how you lay down vocals for an album not realizing you gotta do that shit live. I wonder what the vocals will be like for the new TOOL album. Father Time Will Tone Down All Of Us.

I think MJK is being a little hard on himself - and you are taking it a little out of context.
He was nver able to replicate all of MDN even back then...he mentions (and I remember him saying this back in the 90's) that he wanted to stretch himself on MDN and that many Tool fans didn't even realize he could sing.. He was of course being facetious for the most part.
In the last couple of years, I've seen Puscifer 4 times and Tool 3, I would say that he's adjusting his style as he ages, they all do, and to me it sounds fine.
Rob Halford is a good example of a rock singer (with much more mileage) that has adjusted to his voice aging and is making a decent comeback.
This all being said, if Tool does a double album, as has been discussed, I would expect lots of instrumentals..

As much as I love Maynard (and I really, really do---he's my favorite vocalist of all time), I would absolutely welcome Tool to put more instrumental stuff on record. Let's just go back to the most obvious example, one of the heaviest, most badass songs they've ever made: Triad.
I would also like to see their electronic interludes stretched out. I'd be interested in a full 80 minute album of just that.

I thought it was funny when Carson Daly suggested that the wine consumption was messing with Maynard's voice, to which Maynard replied something like "Maybe, but I'd never admit it."
The girl said she was not really into the band and decided to sell to a fan after seeing the APC facebook page and all the hardcore fans who were bummin hard about getting skunked.
The reason I'm posting this, that when I asked her how she got ticket online, she said that every single person she knew that used Safari was able to get tickets for SF - including 3 day passes.
and
Not a single person using Mozilla Firefox or IE was able to get through. (add myself to that group.)

Oh yeah, I bet they were. But they looked so wild! Thats still one of my favorite stage setups.
Sounds good in theory - does it really make that much difference for us out front though?
yeah probably not, if you are into all the sound tech stuff it might. Brass will have a different tone but may not notice it :) Still awesome kit if your into drumming.....
He doest usually take it as it weighs a tonne, 93lb per bass drum!

That alone makes it surprising they would drag it all them way around the world.
To answer Hellboy - it's visually stunning, provided you are close enough to see it.

Hell, I would take Piper over the Wall.
Many people here realise that all this shit's purely fucking subjective. However, since you don't, please allow me to point to the fact that this post truly proves what a fucking idiot you are.
Having said that (and as epic as I do believe The Wall to be), I would would agree that Animals and Wish You Were Here are amazing beyond measure.
That aside, the rest of your post is a complete load of rubbish. How could you possibly say that Roger Waters is a total wanker when he wrote much of the music on the albums that you've mentioned?

Hmmmmm
That's so trippy man. Some sort of crazy Apple bias? Anyone here use Opera or Chrome to get their tickets? heh.

what is up with that crazy crop?? Someone uploaded it to DIME and it's 1080i with the same image. Do they not show Carson Daly in full widescreen or something? o_O

^^yeah carson daly show was not hd on my direct tv. pretty much everything on nbc is hd for me but carson's budget must suck so much that they cant get hd

.
Or it's a conspiracy and he's really just saving his voice for the next Tool CD whereupon he does a full minute ball-curdling scream that blows The Grudge out of the water and thus completely stopping Earth's rotation and carrying out the most epic album release of all time :ninja:
Me? I really wish I didn't have a damned deviated septum. I have to load up on Allegra and stay away from booze for my voice to sound anything like there's not a rattling bone in the head voice notes. That alone is enough of a vocal discouragement. Having such a clean voice like Maynard or Mikael from Opeth must feel like such a damned blessing (And he smokes like a f@#king chimney too!).

Much upon the lines of Right In Two, I would think. I also expect the music to follow this path as well. Seemed very message laden to end the CD with it as a sort of a tip for the future.

Last Call is produced in letterboxed standard def, so when it's shown on an HD station it's in the "windowbox" format (black border all around the image) because they don't upconvert it to fill a true widescreen.
if a recent conversation I had with Blair comes to fruition then hopefully I will be...
Lucky bastard!
But yeah, I agree with the others when they pull the black cover off that big-ass shiny bronze kit and DC walks out... It's pretty sweet. A few times I think "the kit" got a bigger cheer than Danny. His back-up set they've taken on the last two US tours didn't have the same impact, for me at least.

Wow. Back to the 20th century over there. That's kinda frustrating.
