Seeking MJK surrounded by Bud Light ads is hi-larious.
I've always thought APC sounded thin live, at least on the late night gigs. They definitely seem to track the hell out of the guitars or saturated them more on the CDs or something. Then again, I've never seen them live...
Yeah, I think you're right...
As great as APC are live, I remember thinking the exact same thing on the 04 tour... Pet in particular highlighted that fact.
No reason why you can't queue up in front of a ticketmaster in Adelaide, though?
Main problem with that plan is the timezone. The ticket outlets open at 9am, and by that time the Melbourne tickets would have been on sale for 30 minutes, and I'm pretty sure they'll sell out quicker than that.

"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."
so on the ever so slightly off topic discussion of the APC tour:
Is the consensus out there that they will play an entire album and then a few cuts off the other albums, or will they do an entire album and then a few covers and not overlap the studio albums from night to night.
I know Billy said they will also be doing every cover they ever played live:
Diary of a Love Song
Ashes to Ashes
(not sure about any others)
but that seems like a short set if they don't overlap the albums at least a little..
I'm hoping for MDN and maybe then The Outsider, A Stranger and Pet the first night as well.

I'm thinking the full albums in their proper orders, peppered with a couple covers in between... my hunch is they probably won't mix and match album songs between nights, just to keep the material unique to each show. Guess we'll find out next week though.

Possibly. Have you considered buying them online then?
And thanks for fourtheye. I only discovered it recently and it is very cool and helpful.

No problems, I enjoy doing Fourtheye so I'm glad there's people out there that appreciate it.
I will be buying them online, though I'll probably have the phone going as well. Luckily for me it's a day I'd normally work at home, so shouldn't be much of a hassle to be ready to get the tickets.
Hey mate, which do you think would be a better venue brisbane or melb? I think I might have to make the trek to one :) Which has better sound? Thanks
Haven't been to either venue, but my opinion would be Brisbane. The Melbourne venue on a day with perfect conditions may have better sound I would guess, but the problem there is that it's an outdoor venue, and the general admission area (which is at the back) isn't fantastic. If you can get in the seated section at the front of the Melbourne gig then I'd reckon that'd be better than Brisbane, but unless you're extremely lucky or know someone at ticketmaster, then you'll probably be paying a scalper $300+ for the ticket.
Having said that, I'm probably going to Melbourne personally, because it's cheaper to fly there, I know people who can put me up for free on the night, and it will be easier for me to take those days off from work.
Toolband.com says tickets for the two Australian sideshows in Brisbane and Melbourne go on sale November 4th, but everywhere else says November 8th. Does anyone know which is true?

I think Toolband is wrong, but neither gig appear on their respective ticket agents website yet, so I guess we have to wait and see.

What do you guys think of the chances of getting tickets for either brisbane or melbourne? I am concerned.
There will be some extra pressure on with no Sydney sideshow and in the past it has sold out quick as it is. I think I will organise flights after.......
Would ticketek outlets in Sydney sell bris/melb tickets or will it be the online scramble?

Ha, I was coming on here to have a mini panic about the exact same thing!
I think it's best to trust the BDO official website in this case, which states the 8th, and show's a tour poster which also says the 8th....

Oh... Fuck.
Didn't even think about that!
Hmmm... I wonder if the Ticketek and ticketmaster website goes off AEST or AEDST time...
Come to think of it, since Ticketek is selling the Brisbane show, and their agencies up there won't open up 'till an hour after Sydney ones, surely the Sydney agencies won't be selling them 'till 10am?

My thoughts are that Melbourne will be basically a lottery. The Melbourne show sold out in about 5 minutes last time, and my understanding is that many of those who logged in at the time of the sale couldn't get onto the site to get tickets. Getting tickets in the front seated section was virtually impossible. I don't know anyone who got those tickets online. I don't imagine it'll be much better this time around.
Brisbane is hard to say. I think it will be easier to get tickets there, but I'd still expect it to sell out in about 30 minutes.
My recommendation is for anyone who is able is to line up at your local box office....

My honest opinion?
Melbourne.
They were very special down there in 07. Something about the open air vibe of the place... It's quite amazing. Once in a lifetime experience, actually.
Sound was great, atmosshere was great... Magic night.
And if you can get lucky and get seats, it would be mindblowingly good!
I'm doing Brisbane this time because it's logistically impossible for me to get to Melbourne that week (and in the middle of the week also), whereas I already had the 24th and 25th off work to leading into Australia day.
Plus I have good friends in Brissy I can stay with so that makes it cheaper as well.
If your only trying for one, all other factors aside I'd go for Melbourne (More tickets on sale there also, more chance of going!)

So this is what it's like for our Ozzie friends when Tool is on tour in N.A....
Painful, isn't it?
I was in New Jersey for work in April/May, (A trip planned 6 months ahead) and was so upsetwhen I found out there was going to be another tour in North America just a scant few weeks after I was to be jetting home...

I do appreciate it - it never seems to leave my dropdown!
Re Tool tour: its complicated isn't it? Two different agencies, different time zones and the speed of sales will make it a really tricky procedure. Good luck!
I agree with your other comment though - if people can get to their local outlet then that would be safest. Or fly to Brisbane to buy tickets for the Melbourne gig!!
According to Ticketmaster.com.au, tickets for the Melbourne sideshow go on sale November 4th for members of the 'fanclub', and November 8th for the general public.. would that be the Toolband.com fanclub???

I'm a toolarmy member and I have not heard anything about a presale. In fact, The Collective Unconscious does not have any tour dates listed, there is no message board to discuss such issues, and there is no email address that I can see to direct questions to. In all, I'm very disappointed with the whole toolarmy experience. So, if there is a presale for 'fanclub' members, I have no idea how fanclub members will go about identifying themselves in order to redeem their presale tickets.
thanks for your input on venues, just to clarify the timezones/day lights savings......
Melb tickets on sale 9am syd and melb time?
bris tickets 10am syd time?
this is getting complicated :) and both from different outlets........
This is how it would appear at this point.
The Brisbane one is a tricky one thus far, no one seems sure whether or not Ticketek goes off AEST or AEDST. I tried making an inquiry but they wont let you without a specific event, so as soon as the event page is up I'll get onto them and find out.

If there were to be a presale, it would be nothing more than a password that you'd type into the Ticketmaster site.
I'd be disappointed if I joined TA to get into Pre-sales, but luckily I didn't.

I'd be surprised if it was anything other than 9am Brisbane time.

yeah thats what I was thinking as well. I might work out ok to go and line up and call for melb tickets then if no luck race to the other outlet and try for brissy tickets while calling up? otherwise if no time difference pick one and hope for the best! Hope I can snag one somewhere!

Yeah, a password that I don't have. Also, I'm suprised that Ticketmaster lists a presale. Tool haven't done a presale for quite some time. It would be unusual if they did. Here's hoping that they do though.
That's because as far as I know, no password has been released. Presuming you are TA member, and teh pre-sale is for TA members then I'm sure you'll get the password in due course.
The again Blair has been quite late with tour date announcements, so it wouldn't surprise me if he releases to pre-sale password after the pre-sale finishes...
I agree. I think it will be 9am Brisbane time (i.e., AEST).
Yeah, seems far and away the most likely situation.
But then again, Ticketek don't always subscribe to logic.
Just one of many examples, they royally fucked up tickets to Sydney FC's Festival of Football tournament earlier in the year in spectacular fashion, doing a worse job then an inbred monkey, so who knows?
Doesn't really matter to me, I'm already planning on camping out from the night before, an extra hour wont hurt.
If a presale starts Thursday for Melbourne, makes sense it will also start Thursday for Brisbane (Thus tieing in with Blair's news item) so we'll surely have an event page soon on ticketek.com.au and we'll know for sure.
There is a post on toolarmy saying that members will get a link for presales when they get the info.
This is good news! Brisbane and Melbourne here I come
I hope everything works out for you guys and you all get the tickets you want.
My guess is it will be the standard setlist from the most recent tour and the solo dates will get Flood and hopefully Intension > Right In Two as well.
Did I mention that I'm jealous?
Oh well, the APC trifecta starting Thursday will have to hold me over for another year.

To the guy who doubted that Jon Stewart's rally wouldn't be as cool as spending money on APC tickets, I saw Ozzy Osbourne and Cat Stevens duel Crazy Train and Peace Train.
Ok, so with this pre-sale, a few questions for anyone who has particpated in a Tool Army one before, if you would be so kind:
1. Are there limits on the tickets available to TA members?
2. Would it be likely that all the general admission tickets to the Brisbane show would sell to TA members before the rest of us plebs even get a look in?
I fear that the scalpers would be right onto this, and that people would be signing up for the TA just to re-sell tickets for obscene profits.
(Just have a look at the Big Day Out tickets on ebay, some sellers are offering as many tickets as you like for around 2x the face value, when the tickets bought online haven't even been sent out yet. Not to mention there was supposed to be a 4 ticket limit per person.)
Thanks in advance.
