what the hell is Guitar Hero and APC reunion shit doing in the GENERAL TOOL TOUR DISCUSSION thread?
This thread has been out of control for a while now, you hadn't noticed? Or just finally snapped?

well since this entire site lacks any decent forum organization, this thread has kinda been the "general tool/maynard/related acts" discussion thread for well over a year
i don't give a shit whats posted in this thread...as long as every 10min when i click over to it somebody has said something. I can't stand seeing nothing updated/posted here for 24hrs its scary

As do I. This is really the only place I go for any tool related information (other than the official site, which has turned into a Blair self-promotion site). And just like I ignore about half the stuff Blair talks about, I just skim through here till I find something of interest. You really get everything here. I do like hearing about related projects because it gives clues to the tool processes (when they are actually "processing").
On another topic that will hopefully calm Hushy down, we haven't heard from Junior in a while...did we ever hear about the tour in general?
Junior jumped ship about a month or so before the tour started, he said he didn't want to be involved in the discussion that was going on around here. Too much of a distraction it seemed. Haven't seen him post here since.

^Agreed. It's gonna be a long wait till anything happens so we all might as well get comfortable.
On the subject of junior- I am still hopeful he'll come back around here after things have cooled off a bit and he has a chance to get thoughts together. I could be wrong but we'll see.
I think there's a glitch in the thing, cuz there are always posts in the past 24 hours, at least. It only show things up since last time you checked, I think. I'm really bored, so I usually have a tab of this open that I check maybe every 15 minutes, and this is what happens.
On Erkeam's comment that Toolband has become a Blair promo site, does anyone know why half the info up there is random bands? I had assumed they were bands Tools wanted people to notice, but really, there's more info about them than there is about Tool.
Tool - June 20, 2010 - A Perfect Circle - July 22, 2011 - Tool - January 21, 2012 -
Nine Inch Nails - November 5, 2013 - Skinny Puppy - January 30, 2014 - Tool - March 24, 2014 - Tool - January 13, 2016
my thoughts on junior is that he had prior knowledge of the setlist, he saw everyone bitching on here and said im out. knowing that we were all gonna freak the fuck out after the first night.
my guess is he logged in to see everyones reaction after the NO show.

I guess I just finally snapped. I asked Dan to open up Live Discussion so regular users could make threads, but I guess that's not gonna happen. I could take the random Tool BS, but when it gets down to "anything Maynard related" it's not even worth reading this clusterfuck of a thread. It's worse than posting on Toolarmy's shitty message board.
For the first time we might even want a "Tool Discussion" forum. There's no place here to discuss general Tool related business here. I guess you could put it in Socialize but that seems more for non-Tool related stuff.

Yeah...... well... we take what we get, I suppose. Speaking of which...

Blair is running the show because Tool want Blair to run the show. Why? Because. If it wasn't Blair it would be some one else just like him. Personally... despite doing exactly what everyone else does (skim through Blair's bullshit), I don't mind how he runs things. He talks about news with other bands that are in the "Tool Family", other projects that those people are working on, local art/music events in the LA area, and Tool side project news because when Tool isn't recording or touring... there isn't much to talk about. Hell even when they are there isnt much to say because Tool has never wanted to be that revealing. So you get "they're gonna tour, here are the dates", "They are writing new material...". Everything with Tool moves so slowly. Even Hellboy talks about other bands on Fourtheye when Tool news is quiet.
I'm not really a fan of Blair but I like that I don't like him (if that makes sense). Besides the Tool fan base is resourceful and information hungry enough that we have a plethora of fan sites that do a pretty decent job of covering all bases.
While were on it (and perhaps to keep this thread on topic) you guys should check out the photos by Harry Merkin (Maynard) of Danny and Adam mid-performance from this tour that Blair just posted on Toolband........

Well I'm certainly open to that idea. Thing is- the only people I really like talking to around here are the folks in this thread. At our core we're big fans of the band and are especially moved by the live performance. Do we get off-topic? Sure. But actually I like hearing what you guys have to say about stuff that's only on the periphery of Tool related topics, like Maynard's antics, APC... whatever. I get that it's not always appropriate for a General Tool tour questions / discussion, but this is what we have.

that looks really good. wheres maynards signature?
It's on the third eye. He used a gold sharpie and i took the photo from a bad angle. Straight on it's nice and shiny.

Yeah, that's why Socialize sucks for that sort of thing. Threads about Tool just get shitted up with people who don't care about Tool anymore.
I want a Tool discussion section where people who actually care about the band can discuss it. No one comes in here and shits up the thread with useless crap, wouldn't it be nice to have a whole section where people could come up with their own topics? Here, everything is so....fleeting. One second we're talking about Stinkfist live versions and the next second it's APC's new album. I still want to discuss Stinkfist!
I don't know how to pitch the idea to Dan though, he usually ignores what I say.

Create a thread requesting that, I'd certainly go for it--I am still deeply interested in Tool, and would love somewhere to just discuss them. You just tell all the people here, go post your opinion on request thread (x) and see if Dan goes for it. Just make sure you specify that is the only thing being requested in that, otherwise it may end up like this.
Tool - June 20, 2010 - A Perfect Circle - July 22, 2011 - Tool - January 21, 2012 -

this thread is titled "Live Discussion," yeah? well, since anything TOOL or any member of the band does has something to do or affects, however remotely, the what/when/where/how of their live shows, i thinking nothing is off-topic. and since our daily experience also affects the what/when/where/how of TOOL's live shows as perceived by us, i can talk about my constipation if i want to. ;-)
this thread is all encompassing, and that's cool because live TOOL experience usually goes beyond what's on the particular stage on any particular night. indeed, our lives are part of the live shows, and the live shows are part of our lives.

Uh, that sucks. I guess I would get sick of fielding questions about the plans for the bands next tour, or choosing the setlist, or why the t-shirts are $40. It's like asking Shaggy and Scooby why the Globetrotters always play the Generals...They may solve the occasional mystery with 'em, but they aren't there when the Trotters are making the schedule.
Have they (whoever "they" are) removed his posts? Couldn't find any, but it was admittedly a half-assed attempt. "he said...." when and where?

they're there, but very scattered. i looked around real quick and found a few on page 31.
happy hunting!
as to all this talk about the need for a new tool discussion area, it would be a nice thing to get. but until that happens, i'm just gonna keep pretending that it reads 'General Tool questions / discussion' at the top.
I apologize, for I should know this by now, but what is with the SF show that people loved so much?
And why did they play LA special stuff if they dislike it so? Just out of curiosity...is it because it was their last shows?
If you are referring to my comments, that's mostly just good natured back and forth between So Cal and NorCal.
I went to 3 shows, Red Rocks #2, S.F. and San Diego, and while it's purely subjective and not close to scientific, I would say that all things being said, S.F. was the best of the 3. That is not to say the other two weren't awesome, but overall, I think the sound and the mood of the band was the best in the Bay Area.
To my ears, the extended passages and short jams had a little more umph in SF, and certainly Intolerance was more "solid."
To top it off, I was the closest to being sober at the SF show, but then again, is one ever in a "sober" state at a Tool show?
But like I said I'm really just kidding around with my brothers and sisters down South. I'm sure LA kicked ass, I would just never admit it.
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."

... when it's completely unnecessary in a locked forum on a thread that is a sticky just so you can boost your post count?
Even if it's a joke, it's annoying.

Pretty sure that's exactly what they are. Harry Merkin, total pseudonym he would use.

EDIT: oops, I hit reply with quote on my own post instead of edit... I apologize.

It's pretty easy to do yourself, just buy a frame a little bigger than your actual poster and mat it on that. Then you don't have to cut or crease anything. I have a poster from the Houston June 20th show, and I drew album art all over the mat. So just have fun with it, you know?
The frame was about $20, and the mat paper (a large piece of poster board) about $7

Well, I framed the poster from the Nokia show in '07 myself but, mounting the two nights together would have to involve cutting/creasing if you wanted that look...with the art as an entire piece instead of the borders of the posters in between...know what I mean?
Also, if it's matted, when you lay the posters together, I'd think there would be some separation/lifting of the top poster if it wasn't glued or something...
Yeah, that makes sense, it's one of the double-poster works? It really depends on what you would like to do...what you could do is fold either side backwards so that they fit together, and then it would be balanced (not separation/lifting, as you said) but of course that would involve creasing it. It really depends on whether or not you're willing to do that...if you intended on selling it at any point, I am not sure how this would effect value...

...or is it bent?...looks good...I though about doin mine like that but, not sure if I want to cut/crease one of 'em
Did you get that done somewhere or did you do it yourself? Is it matted(sp)? How much did it cost? Am I asking too many questions?
YES!
Done at Michael's. No. $100ish. No.
I wouldn't have cut it if I didn't have an extra ;)

Question: How can I bump a thread that's currently inactive, is that possible?
I'm not sure if it was Maynard himself in an interview or just a fan's interpretation of Reflection, but I'm looking for an explanation of that song I read a long time ago. Any help is much appreciated.
