This is good news! Brisbane and Melbourne here I come
Please let us know as a toolarmy subscriber when you get sent the info about the presale. I still don't know anything about the presale other than what you just said.. Is it possible for non toolarmy subscribers to get tickets during the presale? is it just a password to enter on ticketmaster? how does it all work? Any information would be much appreciated. If i miss this i will regret it forever :(

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

Erazorhead -
No need to worry about sellouts.
For starters, there's not a huge amount of TA members in Australia.
Secondly, there will certainly be a limit to the amount of tickets each TA member can buy, it's not carte blanche. I'd imagine it will be 2 per gig per member, or some such number. But we'll find out soon.
Thirdly, with almost all presales of this nature, the full allocation isn't made available, not even close. Just a select number. (Say, maybe, 1000 tickets set aside per gig, whatever is not sold rolls over into main sale) Whether or not that selection will be GA, seating, or across both is impossible to say right now.

Nebulous -
The only way a non-TA person can nab tickets during the presale is if you suck up to a member who isn't planning on buying his allocation, and get his password... TA members will receive the password and when they go to buy on Ticketek/ticketmaster, they will need to enter it to proceed.

You'll be right - you live in Melbourne and want to buy at ticket for the Melbourne gig. Just line up at the most obscure local outlet way before 9am Melbourne time and have cash ready. It only gets really tricky when you want to buy tickets in Adelaide for Melbourne like Hellboy is doing. That takes professional organisation!

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

I tell you what, this presale is being left very late. If there are other TA members here, can you tell me if your inbox in The Collective Unconscious is working. I presume that is where we would collect our password? Mine inbox takes me to a 'This page cannot be found' page. I have sent a message to the appropriate people and have not heard back. Any assistance anyone can provide would be appreciated.

Hey mate, same thing happens to me, I think it will be available later/last minute! Let us know if you get news on how it all will work.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

Hi.. I got a couple of questions for anyone going to the Auckland BDO or maybe even one of the Aussie ones.

I'm thinking about trying to get into the "D" barrier at the front to see Tool a bit closer. Does anyone know if it's a bit more chilled out towards the back of the "D" barrier area thing? Cos all the drunkard meat head moshers are up the front? The seats are all either on the sides on way at the back and not really a great option.

Also how long before Tool starts would you have to get into the "D" before it starts getting too busy and jammed up.

And do they ever sell posters at BDO gigs? If so, where abouts?

Cheers

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

wtb:

I would suggest aiming to get into the D barricade around 3 hours early.
That sounds excessive, but remember they only let in the numbers who leave, and from afternoon onwards, most people just get in and stay in.

in 04 for Iggy and Metallica I tried to get in from 2 hours before start time... Not luck at all.

Towards the back will be more "subdued" but recall it's the BDO - Expect idiots trying to mosh in large numbers to anything heavy, as you expect.

There are merch stalls, you may get tour posters there but don't bank on it.

My experience with the D is based on Melbourne and Sydney BDO.
Yes, there is room to breathe at the back of the D courtesy of there being a threshhold on the number of punters allowed in the zone at the time. I'd get in there as early as you can possibly can tolerate waiting and not caring about what other bands you will miss. Auckland may be different to Melb/Syd but it is a shitfight to get in to the D, so you might need to factor in waiting in a line/crush just to get in to the damn thing. I'd be aiming to get in by the start of the act prior that is to play on the same stage as Tool. Possibly earlier, remember that Rammstein is right before so expect that to pack a crowd alone.

Oh, there are no amenities in the D. BYO water and if you want something, or to piss, then you need to leave or be creative.

OK, so I am also on the "what is this fanclub pre-sale?" bandwagon.
Can someone tell me how I get on whatever exclusive list it is to get access to this presale. Getting tickets to Tool on 2/2 is mission critical. I will pay money or whatever I need to do to prove I am a fan. Just need to know how the damn thing works.

Join Toolarmy. That is the only answer at the moment. Be warned that joining TA is no guarantee you'll get tickets, so it's a slight risk at the moment that you might join for "nothing". Having said that, with the Aussie dollar as high as it is at the moment, it's a shitload cheaper to join now then it was when I signed up all those years ago. It's US$40 for the basic package btw.

Just so everyone is clear, this is the ONLY information we've been given about presales:

Quote:
NOTE ABOUT PRE-SALES
I am still waiting for a link from the promoter for ToolArmy member pre-sales for the 2 'solo' shows in Australia. As SOON as I get this, I will post the information.
Anything else you read is speculation.

I doubt missing out on ticket sales will be grounds for a refund, but I suspect you should be ok.

Unless you specifically entered into a LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT, you don't have a case at all. It doesn't matter what you believed or thought they were going to give you, or even what they vaguely promised to give you. There was NO GUARANTEE--hellboy even told you that.

Quit acting like a crybaby who just spent two whole months worth of allowance, sheesh. The Tool ticket situation around the world sucks, but come on.

Pretty sure there's nothing in the terms and conditions of the site that guarantee you presale ticket. You may get a refund, but it won't be because you're bank will kick their ass.

I don't reckon not getting presale tickets is a cause for a refund. The Collective Unconsious site has a lengthy legal document pretty much resolving tool of any responsibility for anything.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

wtb - At Gold Coast BDO in 07, the D barrier filled up at about 4 in the afternoon or even earlier, I was told. I actually ended up jumping the barrier just after Muse played, but that is pretty risky, you can read about it in my review of the show. So if you want to be legit about it, I would suggest getting in at least 4 hrs early and pissing in a cup.

also, thanks spiral2spiral!

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

The D barricade system is completely fucked, and poorly run.
So many people dehydrate to dangerous levels in the D but don't want to leave to get water.

I understand why it's in place (I was there in 01, that year was fucked...) but T barricade's work MUCH better in terms of crowd safety.

"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

Hellboy, you made a mistake on your update: You said that there's no info about Daylight savings time in the Toolarmy post.
True, but the link to ticketek says onsale AEST : So 12 Brisbane time, 1pm Sydney Melbourne time, et etc

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion

Ticketek says this about Brisbane:
On Sale Soon:
Thu 04 Nov 2010 12:00PM (AEST)

Which is still a bit ambiguous since Sydney time is really AEDST. But I would be getting on there at 12 Sydney time regardless.
