Re: 2006/11/25 - Glasgow, Scotland - SECC

Excellent news on this new Scottish date. Hope the ticket info is released soon as I'd rather not get stuck in the seats at the soulless shed that is the SECC.

Superb. Any idea whether Isis will be supporting on the European dates?

Re: 2006/11/25 - Glasgow, Scotland - SECC

This is indeed excellent news. I called the SECC today, and they have no idea about tickets yet. But i was told to keep checkin over the nexy week. So maybe in the next week!
Also the SECC is a pretty cool venue, i always enjoy gigs there, n the crowds are usually fantastic. Very good atmosphere, and very spacious!

It is a horrible venue, just like a big hanger or shed or something. I'm not a big fan of the Carling Acedemy either. Think the Barrowlands woulda been the best venue to see Tool, but ah well what can you do eh?

really dissappointed theyr playin at the secc, carling academy is a much better venue, and you've got a much better chance of getting near the front

Re: 2006/11/25 - Glasgow, Scotland - SECC

Come to think of it, the SECC is probably the only venue with a big enough stage to support all the screens and stuff, so maybe it is the best place to see them. I'm still interested to see if Isis are supporting in Europe, that would be niiice. I also heard a Mogwai rumour, probably quite unfounded though.

Re: 2006/11/25 - Glasgow, Scotland - SECC

Hey people, there's a presale up on Ticketmaster - http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/pre_sa...UKAFF_CCE_RUSH

but it's only for seated tickets. Will there BE standing tickets for Glasgow? I really want to go and don't want to risk missing out on tickets but am not a fan of sitting at gigs, especially in a big ol' arena. Can anyone with any info about SECC let me know? Is there normally a standing area? Do you think they will release the standing tickets at a later date? It's confusing me!!!

Re: 2006/11/25 - Glasgow, Scotland - SECC

I would certainly rather have standing, and every gig i've been to at the secc so far has been standing. Sometimes, i think, it is all seated (Bob Dylan for example) but it's probably too early to start speculating. The seated tickets aren't even available to buy yet anyway. It does say 'over 14s/u16s with an adult' which would suggest standing.

Re: 2006/11/25 - Glasgow, Scotland - SECC

Not a huge fan of the SECC but it'd be great to see Tool on a bigger stage that can handle the full stage show. Seen them in the Barras and Carling and because the stage space wasn't the largest there were restrictions in what the band could visually offer live.

I personally preferred this as it was great to see them with limited effects and letting the music do most of the work but it'll be interesting to see how it works this time.

And I wish they'd release dates of ticket sales alongside the confirmed dates. Don't want to be stuck in the work like last time when I could be on the phone ordering tickets!

I had a look on Google images as I've never been to the SECC before and it looked slightly smaller than normal arena size - is that right, or was it just a good photo? Here's the link actually - looks a bit ike Hammersmith Apollo - http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?im...l%3Den%26lr%3D

That doesn't look like the SECC at all - more like the Carling Academy. The SECC has no balcony, as far as I'm aware, in any of the halls.

Most of the concerts I've been to over the years in the SECC have been in Hall 4. You can see the set up here -

http://www.secc.co.uk/images/gallery/halls/hall_4_seated_8200.jpg

Standing will be in the front section which is filled with seats in this image.

It's weird I found that image, it's labelled SECC as well - guess someone was confused. The picture you sent still makes it look cool. Without the seating that's still fairly intimate by arena standards - I hope that is the layout they use. Thanks for that.

Re: 2006/11/25 - Glasgow, Scotland - SECC

the secc is awfully wide for a venue...that's what fucks up the sound (that along with shit speakers...oh well, it's tool, they'd be good playing to 40000 people in my living room...if rather cramped.

i got 4 tickets, now i only need to find another 3 people to go with...that should be easy.

Re: 2006/11/25 - Glasgow, Scotland - SECC

Did anyone else ordering from TicketMaster via the presale get charged £30 per ticket instead of the later reduced price of £28.50? I did and I'm pretty pissed about it. I know it's only £1.50 per ticket but they already shafted me for just over £11 in other fees and delivery charges. Gonna give them a phone and see if I can get my £3.00 (for two tickets) refunded.

Yeah man exactly the same happened to me - must have been something to do with presales as opposed to general sale - it sucks, only £1.50 as you say but I'm going to 4 gigs and they overcharged me on all of them. Let me know how you get on?

Nope, no luck. Phone TicketBastard's Customer Service line on 0870 153 5353 and was told that the price wasn't in their control and that since I accepted the price of each ticket as £30 at the time of booking, that's what they'd charge, despite the later reduction in price. I don't think £30 was a presale price as opposed to a general sale seeing the reduction was made during the presale. So if I had waited till about lunchtime to get my tickets rather than get in early at 9 am I would have paid £28.50. Whatever the reasons, that sucks big time. Even worse for you, ktdude, being charged the higher price for 4 tickets. I know £1.50 per ticket isn't a great deal of money but it's the principle of the thing.

Well that's a great load of steaming bollocks isn't it. So our reward for being dedicated fans and getting in early is to be ripped off. Great. And the tickets are still on sale even now. Arse. Procrastination used to work so well for me, why did I give it up.

Oh well. Works out at about £15 overall, I could probably only have bought about 3 pints with that at the arena anyway.

Agreed. Won't ever be using TicketMaster again and will be going back to getting my tickets from Ticket Scotland's shop in Glasgow, taking my chance in the general sale. That'll cut out the exorbitant delivery fees TicketMaster charges as well. Paid something like £5.50 and I bet it will turn up in an ordinary envelope with a second class stamp.

Not going to let this spoil the concert though. Can't wait for November to see Tool for the second time in six months. It's going to be ace!

I got mine in the pre-sale, and don't think i got charged extra, but it's always more expensive through Ticketmaster. Shoulda just waited and got them from Tickets Scotland...

depends, i like to be in the thick of things, and i'm only 5'9", i found at download and london in june that tool fans all seem to be rather tall. oh and if you're a whiney wimp when someone barges into you (no offence intended, but you do get them) then go seating.

My little friend is sitting as she got so frustrated with not being able to see at Download and Hammersmith... I don't blame her, the visuals are pretty important with Tool after all. For me, standing all the way - I am 5'9" too and was fine at Download where I was at - although I totally agree about the tall Tool fans thing - there were heaps of massive people!!
