I love all the songs from Undertow, but I think 4 Degrees just sticks out a little from the rest. There's just something different and a little more dark about this song. Plus, it's the only Tool song w/ a guitar solo.
god i LOVE this record. since it was released, it's been one of my absolute favorites. Tool's best record, IMO.
all tracks are good but, my order:
flood / undertow (tie for best)
4 degrees
intolerance
crawl away
sober / prison sex (tie)
disgustipated (i really like it)
swamp song / bottom (tie)
i never liked bottom or swamp song as much as i loved the rest of the record. but both of those songs always pleased me a lot more when i heard them live.
I find that as far as losing myself in the rythm and feeling of a song (any song) you can't go passed Disgustipated for pure freak-out satisfaction. Put on your 'phones and let yourself be hypnotised and drawn into what can only be described as base primalism.
Also you can't help but feel for the carrots, let those bastard rabbits wear glasses!

Undertow. I have a higher experience every time I listen to it. It just takes me to "That" place.... I was walking home listening to it and it was pouring rain and at the part where he sings "Come back down to the UNDERTOW...." for like a 1 1/2 I just stood in the middle of the street in the rain and lived in the music. best song. other ranking....
2. Prison Sex
3. Flood
4. 4 degrees
5. Crawl Away
6. Sober (just too overplayed... occasionally moves)
7. Intolerance
8. Disgustipated
9. Swamp Song
i don't know?!? sometimes it's 4 degrees...sometimes it's undertow, hell i switch all the time. it's weird how tool music will have you jammin' one song for like a week straight and then all the sudden you switch to another. no other music has that effect on me. it's what somehow keeps every album new... i can't really find the right words here, i just know i can't ever really say that i love one tool song more than the other because it's always changing...well, except for eulogy and pushit live those are pretty much a constant when it comes to my favorites.

No reflection? Wow man your insane. Reflection might be my favorite song by Tool. Notice the words "might be". Reflection is amazing. Btw the build might be slow and "boring" but if you listen to it and give it a chance you will realize the beauty of it. Cheers

And that's just the lyrics half of it. The music that accompanies it is just great. Intolerance was the first song of Tool's that I learned to play on bass. It just seems so powerful to me.
