I’ve stood eclipsed in shadow
by taller men than you
Frigid air gifting crystals to my lungs
with every breath
Penumbral destiny
at the base of a Mountain
Gazing endlessly
upward
Until I turned my steed
From cowering to courage
And made a dash for the source
We ran for the cliffs
So long and fast and far that our last breath seemed near to taken
We ran through valleys in the night
for the cliffs at the peaks of the pillars of time
Through day and cosmic night
Running even in my dreams
I dreamt of death and loss and grief
Searching my hearts secret passages for a feeling
Unknown to me then
Until at last time stopped for us;
a stillness settled cozily over our hearts and exhalations
Hooves padded softly
And I beheld my first vista on the trail to forever
At this celestial meeting place
I waited for myself and found her
Staring off a grand precipice
Overlooking time and concealed spectrum
An awesome spectacle
made of the work of god’s tireless hands
In awe
Neither eclipsing nor eclipsed
With the cosmos as my witness
I took my stance
