i pretty sure that's their rehearsal room in LA. Rumour says Danny is working on a solo album. Either that or 'they' are just having fun with us - next picture will show Justin on the drums.

Danny's a hell of a bassist from what I've read. He's just a better drummer.

It has been almost two years since 10,000 days. Thats not long in Tool-time but maybe they are jamming and getting bits together already. I wouldnt expect anything major anytime soon though. Well except that mythical live DVD...

Live DVD?
HAH HAH HAH.
Also, I hope they're trying to put some new material together, and maybe we'll get to hear them road-test a little of it? That would be pretty nice...

I don't think Tool would ever let anything slip before they are ready to release the entire album. They would only throw around some fake songtitles or fake samples to fuck with us.
Just like the photo of Danny, it's only to suggest there is something coming our way........NOT!

Man, thanks for getting my hopes up for nothing!
Note the exposed brick behind Danny ... that ain't no recording room...
I do think after some much needed time off they'll get into the studio faster this time around. That doesn't mean it won't be three more years before we see an album, though.
I read an interview with Justin where he talked about the length between Tool's albums. He said the guys in the band were all getting older and therefore this time around it might be important not to take so much time off as their window is shrinking (they won't be doing this in their middle and late 50s, probably ... my guess is their next album will be their last .... MAYBE, just maybe two more tops). He said they've already worked on some new material on the road, but it was in very basic formative stages.
So maybe in a year or so they'll hit the studio. We can hope.
But let's face it. They toured heavily and need (and deserve) a break...

I remember them playing a part of 'wings' before Lateralus in '02. In fact, there's a very noticeable progression of the song from Inglewood on 7/15 (the earliest bootleg I have of the 02 tour) and Long Beach on 11/24. So yeah, they do "road-test" new material.

Lots of bands do it, often. I know this because I have e.g. a Midnight Oil bootleg from '78 with a few songs from Head Injuries, their '79 album. So, big shock, it's been goin' on for a while. I probably have a few other boots about with this occurring.

I do recall Wings being played and road-tested and being tested on the Lateralus tour - I was just voicing my hopes that, should they be putting new material together, they do road-test it, because, really? That would kick ass.
I know they played some Undertow material between Opiate and Undertow, as well, but they also demoed a few songs from Undertow pre-Opiate - I remember at least Sober, not sure if there were others, mind.

Does Danny actually play The Stick!?
Does anyone know if it’s played on any previous Tool albums?
There’s not too many of them around. I’ve actually done graphics for/of a few of those guys.
