well im not saying birkenstocks, but i do believe we are missing a part of the story of how he found himself in the UFO.... Something grabbed him or hit him with a laser and pulled him in, but that part about getting pulled into the ufo is in the first part, i beieve, we just cant make it out. Cause the second half has him inside the ufo. Anyone agree?

I have this feeling too as I've spent a lot of time today with this song on headphones and while I was trying to ascertain the lyrics I decided to try listening in only one earphone and then the other... and I just came away even more confused than before I tried it lol. They're really giving interpretation fans a run for their money with this song. I love it!

Okay I've decided that it's effectively impossible to cop what the lyrics REALLY are for the first verses. And I think that's the great part because it really defines the mood of the song, the totally-fucked-out-of-it sense to it. Every time I listen to it I hear something different. I don't have a clue what the fuck's going on. God it's fucking great guys.

Try listening to "GYROscopes and infrared" as "TELEscopes and infrared". Might just be possible (I can hear either depending on what I listen for), and it would have more meaning within the context of the song as these would be two devices the character might wish to use to help him find the UFO again to regain his lost message! I mean wtf is he going to do with a gyroscope anyway?
