Slightly tempted to pay the parents a visit in SD and catch that show, but I don't know if I should spoil the magic with two shows (Seeing them in SF), especially if they really don't change the setlist. Feels like one of those dreamy things that you don't wanna out-do, yadiddimean?
Introduced my dad to Tool at Epicenter. He now sees the light show when the songs are on in the car.

seriously?? i saw TMV open for system of a down in like '05 and it was one of the greatest sets ive EVER seen. they made system seem sooooo boring and formulaic by comparison. cedric zavala was almost like a young robert plant. there were so many musicians and so much psychedelic madness going on onstage, it was amazing!! and the bedlam and goliath is one of the best prog rock albums in the last few years.
anybody listen to the tea party? whatever happened to them?

Loved that band. Their first three cds are classic and each sounds musically unique from it's predecessor. After their 3rd (Images at Twilight) I felt they kinda ran out of ideas and attempted ago at pop stardom. Once that failed, the band broke up in 2006 up and Jeff Martin went solo.
They were huge in Canada and down under but they never got their just rewards here in the states.
i will say that chance of them playing something new is very very low. i dont mean to be to negitive but last year they said they were going to bust out a new cover song but that never happened.
That article was awesome, thanks for posting. Not sure if Maynard is serious about playing new material or just blowing smoke up our a$$es to sell more tickets, but it is awesome to hear that they are so far along in the writing process. I assumed they were just getting geared up.
I was also amazed to hear that APC is working on a new album. Everything just seemed to die with them after eMotive. I'll be looking forward to it though. Will be interesting to see who all is still/back in this iteration of the band.

looks like we're in for a good couple of years like 2000/2001 when mer de noms and lateralus were released
wonder which will come first..i'm sorta feeling a new tool album next May
I'm with ya on the timing. Thinking early next year. We could have gotten a rough estimate from Toolarmy by looking through dates of posts on the whiteboard diagraming one of the songs, and then later on discussing the mastering, and the ultimate release of 10,000 Days. Unfortunately, those older posts seem to be gone now. Anyone remember when they began writing 10,000 days? There were a lot of posts discussing writing sessions back then.

Anyone planning to go see the documentary, Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage?
My boyfriend, being a HUGE Rush fan, asked me to go to the Toronto showing today and I recall reading it on Fourth Eye that Tool is making some sort of appearance in the film? I can now see why I'm going lol
Not so familiar with Rush myself, but conveniently enough I have some catching up to do tonight. In any case, an appearance from Justin/Danny would be a treat :)

Early Rush is some of the best music ever made. from 74 to 80 these guys were a force.
After that ....meh.
Is anybody else blown away that May May is working with Billy and APC again???

That RS article drops a few bombs - me likey.
I heard the movie is great. Not sure if Tool are interviewed, though.
Alex Lifeson is a huge Tool fan. I think Junior talked about Alex sitting next to him at the board at some shows in Toronto, or something along those lines.

The film was better than I expected. Definitely worth checking out.
Danny Carey was the only one to make an appearance, but it was so short to the extent where I didn't even catch what the guy said. I believe he was talking about the drummer Neil Peart...
Surprisingly, many other artists who I would typically not think of as "Rush" fans appeared in the film. Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails and Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins. Anyone surprised?
