WWE "SummerSlam" PPV Opener:
The show opens live in the arena. Justin Roberts introduces Grammy award winner, guitarist from "Tool", Adam Jones. Jones performs the National Anthem on his electric guitar. Some video footage is shown of famous American stuff's as he plays. Rock enthusiasts might dig this, but it seems a bit out of place to this guy. When he's done tons of fireworks go off as the giant American flag is shown across the screens. Anyways, we forge ahead!
I can't search youtube at work, would somebody mind posting the link if they find it?

He sure did butcher a couple of parts. Still cool, just no Jimi.

in other news, has anyone seen tool at the gorge in washington state? how was it? after experiencing red rocks last summer, that seems like the other "must-see" venue for them.
The news that Puscifer plans to tour in November gives some insight into the timeline for the Tool record. I expect Puscifer might do a couple small tours lasting at least 2-3 months...
Kananduh, I remember reading from the reviews that Maynard gestured toward the beautiful backdrop during, "here from the King's mountain view" during Jambi.
I know quite a few people that go to Sasquatch every year, everybody just raves about The Gorge. I can't recall one negative thing about the venue itself, just how the location is easily accessible.

"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."
I'm not a big fan of Shoreline to be honest. Just a big ol' bowl and you have to be close to see anything. However, when I saw Bjork there, the sound was absolutely incredible; very clear and precise.
and as far as I know Tool has never played the Hollywood Bowl, they have played the Palladium a bunch of times though.

I have seen Tool play at The Gorge twice and both times were phenomenal. I would highly recommend going if they play there again. Stay in the camp ground there and party with all of the Tool fans.

Primus
The Pixies
Janes Addiction
at the Palladium.
Heluva line up there. You gonna tell the Perry story here one of these days?
OT, dunno how anyone can complain about Adam's rendition of the farkin Gringo Anthem. Out of tune. Tons of mistakes. PERFECT tone. Over the top visuals. Can't see him. And a buncha meatheads who only maybe have heard Sober cheering him on. Sounds like a Tool concert to me!

I haven't, but I know people that have.
A lot of the people that went to that show say it's the best concert they've ever been to.

That is a close one for me. The August 6th 2001 show at The Paramount Theatre in Seattle ranks up there also. So does the first time I seen Tool at the Gorge for Lollapalooza 97. Maynard was "The Hooker With A Penis" for that Gorge show.
The Gorge always struck me as a bit "exposed" whereas RR has a natural rock amphitheater to keep the sound in. Even to top 25% of RR often gets blown out. It looks like the Gorge could get blown out pretty easily especially from far back.
If you do go the RR, invest in the lower level seats, it makes a HUGE difference.

(and be ready for some kooks) :)
Thank you for the advice on RR!!! I will def keep that in mind when purchasing tickets.
The Gorge has a great sound. I have been there many times (only twice for Tool) and never been disappointed in the sound. For the 2000 NIN tour in which APC opened I was close for APC and sitting on the hill for NIN. Here is a link to good pic I found for the Gorge.
Random Factoid: "The Wine Guy", also known as Maynard's assistant who speaks to the groups doing the wine tasting/meet and greet for Puscifer shows, and also works as the Head of Security for all tool tours (i believe), was recently spotted by myself doing security escorts for members of the GLEE live concert tour at a recent show in Toronto.
This post was not a joke. and more importantly do NOT ask why I know this ;)

There is such a thing as TOO close at Red Rocks. I recently crammed in to the 3rd row when the seating was GA and pretty much hated it. You lose sound quality and atmosphere exponentially when you're that close. Saw APC from row 28 and it sounded PERFECT. I'd say the sweet spot is from about row 15-35.
Honestly though, there's not a bad seat in the house.

Yeah I had 2nd row for Heaven and Hell (RIP RJD) but seat #4, so I was way waaaaay off to the side. Down at the bottom, the rows are hella wide.
The soundboard is right around 18, right? That's where I was last show, when we got Intension>RIT.

So local radiobabe @ShannynMoore apparently hung out with Danny when she was in SW Alaska fishing last week. At least, she hung out with him long enough to get this:
I don't know if she talked about the trip on her show 8/26 (first show back after trip), but the podcasts are up on iTunes if you're interested. I don't know her to be a Tool fan, she's more Indigo Girls, but maybe she was given a sacred message to pass on to the rest of us. I'm going to play the podcast backwards.

Hey Muskeg, have you seen the previews for Moneyball? Must see viewing for A's fans.
