Already bought tickets, so that isn't a problem. Thanks though.
Also in regards to your earlier question: GO!
Sometimes a trip by yourself is very refreshing. I had a friend back out of going to see Mastodon in NOLA last year, and I skeptically went by myself and had an awesome time. Actually probably better than if he'd gone with me.
i listened to all of that bands music that they have on myspace and i think that they have the potential to be very good live. now i guess its time to go on youtube and find some live videos of them ;)
Interesting--anyone ever heard of them or seen them live?
Yes. Wovenhand is a very interesting choice. They are similar to Tool in the way that they employ a strong overarching tonic. Though, they are very dissimilar in that their music is primarily folk-alternative rock.
This choice is also interesting because of their "Pro-God" (almost religious, but more spiritual) leanings.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion
The choice of Wovenhand did surprise me especially because of their religious overtones, but David Eugene Edwards is a showman in every sense of the word. 16 Horsepower would have been a cool Tool opener, but Wovenhand is much more spiritual and a little more down tempo. Should be interesting nonetheless, hopefully all the douche bag metalheads at Red Rocks won't be boo'ing them off the stage

That's exactly what I'm doing - going with the wife and friends to SF on Jul 12, then by myself to Vegas for four days, culminating with TOOL on Jul 16 at PH.

I don't know anything about them, but yes, that would be surprising. Especially if they opened with Opiate...
"Yeah Tool is fucking amazing. But there’s a big chunk of their fan base that think they’ve become thought provoking geniuses just from listening to them."
looks like red rocks gets 2 different openers? wovenhand says there last day is the 28th?
If this is the truth that is sweet! Makes the Red Rocks shows even better for me if I get to see two different sets, from an opening act that is...still don't give a shit if TooL plays the exact same set-list two nigths in a row because I'm getting to see TooL at the most majestic venue East of the Sierra Nevadas *tips his hat to The Gorge in WA!* Its a Colorado TooL fan's dream come true just to be able to see them again at the Rocks.
maynard said on his twitter that'd be hard to do since he's in NOLA

Anyone want to swap tickets for the san diego show for the san fran one. i have 2 spare standing GA tix to the san fran show, so if anyone wants them ill do a swap for tickets to san diego. im travelling from australia for the show so i figure i may as well stick around for san diego too. im going to the san fran show myself anyway so swap will be easy. Please email [email protected]. By the way san fran tickets cost me 120 bucks each (fuckin ticket company charges etc.) so you will be getting a good deal, if u want to go to san fran and sandiego tickets cost u less. (dont think they are even on sale yet.
This has probably been addressed in the past, but I don't recall...
Is there any significance to some of the cities in the tour list of the official site written in all caps versus standard punctuation? Notice that Denver is both on consecutive nights???

This guy pushed me over the edge. If he can fly from Australia to the US to see some shows, I can surely fly from Indy to Vegas! So I booked the flight and the room. I'll be there from Thursday evening (the 15th) through Monday morning (the 19th). Since it seems some others also will be solo, maybe we can get together at some point.

Well, "spirituality" is a complex thing. Much of Tool's music is fairly spiritual, especially Lateralus. Just because you address "God" and even Jesus if you want to stretch it, doesn't mean your music is "religious" and/or in conflict with a band like Tool.

i wouldnt over think something like that. the last tour has different caps on different nights too but we all know that every show was the same other than the first few cities not getting Ænema

I understand the setlist situation (Has that topic really been discussed here lately?, I don't recall), but Blair doesn't do things like that unintentionally. There is a reason......

Except that Wovenhand is signed to a family-oriented record label, and they promote several Christian ministries through their various web pages (Myspace, etc.) So not only do they reference religion, they apparently advocate Christianity.
This is perfectly fine with me; I'm a strong Christian. I'm glad Tool does not discriminate against certain groups just because they are grounded in Christianity or another religion...yet more proof that all four of them are true, open-minded artists.
I've been listening to Woven Hand on youtube and I gotta say this is my favorite opener for Tool yet. I'm definitely gonna need to pick up some of their albums.

Mosaic - I think its the album that Tool fans would likely appreciate the most.

Well... there you go. I didn't dig that deep. Interesting.

Re: General Tool tour questions / discussion
I'm pleasantly surprised by the reaction Wovenhand has received by some Tool fans. They're not for everyone, but I was expecting most people to dislike them. My Ex GF of 5yrs listened to Country music (the kind on the radio) so I was determined to find some GOOD "Country". Finally I found some alt-country like 16 Horsepower, Drag the River, The Takers, and Wovenhand and proved (to myself) that there HAD to be some dudes out there playing with meaning. Radio country is worse than radio rap these days.
Now I'm really excited for Red Rocks night 1! I'm hoping for some good weather, Colorado can be a little unpredictable.
i'll be posting the new orleans setlist as it happens into the new orleans review thread, just so you know!

I saw Isis in DC last night.
Spent some time hanging out with aaron harris before the show. Nice guy.
Got ridiculously drunk and almost arrested because I forgot hotel name and could barely walk. Woke up this morning to find pictures on my iPhone with me and Aaron turner (Isis vocalist). Yet I don't remember anything. LOL.
In Philly now for Isis again. Think this hangover will be gone soon. wow what an intense 24 hours it has been. NOLA tomorrow!
I'll post pics with Isis members later. They're hillarious. I was so wasted.
as long as i have an internet signal, i should say. no name, maybe you should pm me your number incase you have to relay. i promise im not a creeper.
