I'm pretty sure this thread is an argument between two people being facetious, and neither of them knows the other one is doing it intentionally. It's phenomenal.
This is BoI material.

They put effort in 10,000 Days, and in this past tour. They also are four guys just writting what they want, and playing what they want. They aren't trying to pull some huge prank for a whole year like you think. They have given you a reason to think, and look deeper into the music, and ofcourse they want you to open your mind to everything you hear. They are a true band that will one day slaughter the music industry with countless messages, and while the pussies are complaining and making guesses about hoax albums, complaining about the lack of Tool DVD's, and releasing albums that closely resemble Undertow and Lateralus and the such, they're laughing...oh and if you didn't get the memo...They really don't give a shit either. They aren't a bunch of kids. They are professional about what they do, and just because they took five years to release a new album, used a riff from their Lateralus tour(Wings for Marie), and supposedly according to alot of the genius' on this board, ''rehashed'' some guitar riffs, doesn't mean that there is another album sitting in a safe with ''TOOL'' on the front cover that is supposed to be the ''Real album''. They came out with their new album, they're touring, and whether they release a new DVD or not, or release a brand new album sooner than expected, is just them doing what they want to do...it's not a big deal at all.
So go ahead and free up April 24th on your calendar, because we aren't getting shit. Danny really did get injured, and Maynard still is(dare I say...)human as shit. This theory is fabricated bullshit. Now anyone who believes El Enveloper is free to go listen to Opiate, Undertow, Aenima, Lateralus, and 10,000 Days, unless you still think it's a hoax album.
God bless the greatest joke album ever.
My rant is finished thank God.

While this is, of course, a bullshit post meant to make the average gullible idiot enraged, and give attention to the poster (i love the doing that too, btw), and the album is, of course, not a hoax - i know there's still more to this album than just the initial listen, both in material that's already there, and things not yet released.
Oh, and your avatar, poster, is digusting. Thanks

Why wouldn't the album be released on May 21st in San Antonio?
All you have to do is read into Blair's armadillo/San Antonio posting a few months back. It's a allusion to Close Encounters of the Third Kind and saying that San Antonio is going to be the rendezvous for the MOTHERship after the three mini-UFOs have visited and left. Didn't anyone else recognize those hovering "stage lights" as three UFOs???
READ BLAIR'S POST AND WATCH CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND!!!
{check out the slot machine picture on www.toolband.com too!}

Alright, PMs sent. It's not the most mindblowing thing ever, but it does sound exactly the same. Listen around 33 seconds till the end.
What I'm trying to point out here is that they might have these ideas for riffs sitting around for YEARS maybe. Adam doesn't make complex riffs, he makes simple riffs. So in this 1998 clip, he plays that little scale that later becomes a breakdown in a song. They do that A LOT especially in older shows, most of them are riffs that I don't recognize (in other words, haven't been turned in to songs).
I mean, just look at Wings in 2002. It's one simple riff played over and over and over with a bit of Danny drum fill, it's nothing special.
Code:
----------------------------------
----------------------------------
----------------------------------
-14------14------14------14-------
----15-0----15-0----15-0----15-0--
----------------------------------
Listen to Tool bootlegs...you'll be amazed by what you hear.

So we're all just sitting at the restaurant at the end of the Universe, and there's like 10 seconds to go before the big end, and Jesus shows up. He's like, hey guys, sorry i''m late-- you would not believe how busy i've been. Wanna see some new card tricks?
It was at this moment that the Universe ended.

This new one? It's Kari Byron saying something (can't remember off the top of my head, she was talking about electric shocks)...I made it myself, taking screenshots from the TV show Mythbusters.

I'm not gonna' lie: I laughed the first time I heard this album... very hard and very much. I likened it to Pink Floyd's "Animals" for more than a couple reasons, but...
Wings/10,000 Days has led me to cry on a couple occasions...
still I've laughed, drumming along to this album more times than I've jerked-off and boo-hooed myself to sleep over it.
The hoax hypothesis still stands (and probably always will -- Maynard could die and it'd be a hoax a la Abbey Road, etc...), but it is only that: a hypothesis. Ya'lls can keepa' fightin' over whos right 'n all that bullcrap, tho; it makes the album more entertaining for the rest of us.

I have not yet seen one viable statement leading to any fucking grounds for hoax.
Not one.
No hoax.
If it looks like a duck....
I think you might have laughed for good reason. Was Andy Kauffman a hero right off the bat? No. A natural response for something we are far from ready for is laughter, eyes to the side, then down.
I loved it from the first minute, but who's to say that's any better a reaction.
*while exhaling*
Might be a bit of a junky, and not a fussy one.
But its great!!!!!!

But its great!!!!!!
s'great!!!!!!!!

i got smiles from benjamin, so i can be happy and NOT go tell you to swallow stuff under household appliances, or any of the other stuff i used to do back... nine days ago.
See, no hate ------------------------------- completely void of hate.
The fluxterpretation, or the ''we still have'nay figured it oot'' thread (artwork) should be a beacon for ye fools on the hoax train.
You guys ever hear about the ''land trains'' that roll in the desert. Most people never see them, but they are transports like we have here, but with like seven cars attatched to them. All you can do when you see one is pull over and duck, or else you die.

Listen to Tool bootlegs...you'll be amazed by what you hear.
|
let me be the first to say that that is NOT rosetta stoned.
are you kidding me?
all that is is adam going up and up between his D strings 2 frets apart with a delay... that was not a riff written and stored in the books to later become rosetta stoned.
not at all... i dont care what you say.
i know its the same as the little riff after the first "Shit the Bed"
but i do not in anyway count that as them playing a riff from rosetta stoned 8 years before it was written.
i assure you that adam does not think in his mind that he played "a riff" from rosetta stoned back then. if he listened to that clip he would think "what a coincidence" or something to that extent.
i played the same "riff" in my band in high school around when lateralus first came out. i surely dont think i channeled rosetta stoned.
its just ridiculously basic thing to play that he used in rosetta stoned for that interlude to build momentum. its something that is supersimple but can be played in a very dynamic way, like he does in the album. he can easily play and stress notes and alter the time to play with the rythm of the bass and drums behind him.
Not rosetta stoned. just noodling.
The Wings for marie is different... he just noodles on that guitar technique but still plays the melody behind it that is in wings for marie.. that WAS the wings for marie in '02.
A really appreaciate you sending the clip to our PM Boxes to hear for ourselves though. Thanks.

I'll say it once again just for you, ketchup packet: your head is still there. Tool could have put out Lateralus fucking part II, the ubersequel, with double the drippy nugget sauce, duck two ways and those nice French plates and you'd still bitch about it.
Nothing can top what you love, until you've had your fill. I used to like the Care Bears, then time came when i stood up, thanked them for their lessons about harmony and good and evil, and i moved on to The Ninja Turtles.
Someday, you'll wake up to heir 10,000 Dayzens, that third masterpiece.
And i'll be there to tell you you're late for work, make you some scrambied eggs in my saucy housecoat.

The green laser show is identical to Godsmack's tour back in 03-04 IDENTICAL!!!!, No new website, No new videos, Maynard impersonating the wannabe native American dude that impersonated being a Navajo and wrote all those books, the numerous references to the number 11, "two becoming one", and the general feeling that 10,000 days was just half of the puzzle, the horrible recording technique on 10,000 days (I've never heard tape hissing on any of their other albums when new parts come in and out of the song ie- Jambi when Danny's drum part starts at the beginning of the first verse.) Not to mention Blair's numerous "sarcastic" references to the hoax album blah, blah, blah. Oh and also the fact that 10,000 days is so uneven and lacking any sort of flow. It just feels wrong. Coincidence, I THINK NOT!!!!!
Mark my words.... Something is coming. We are meant to sense it within the collective unconscious. They are testing us. Plus they realized how cool it was for Tarantino to split up Kill Bill and stagger the release, along with the last System of a Down album. IT JUST MAKES SENSE!!!!!
If anyone was gonna pull this shit, it would be Tool.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that you saying this album is just a complete hoax, hence therefore a joke?
Contradiction anyone.

Yeah that was Kari being choked by Tori... here's the original and here's the crop/resize (slightly different) so do whatever you want with it, I guess. I don't know how many frames it is, put it in Imageready and check it out.
here's the newer one, just for reference. I may change it.

You look at my posts and I could easily be called a Tool fanboy for my defense of the band and Maynard, but I don't think 10,000 Days has that "album" feel. It seems more like a collection of disparate songs. I don't know, I can't explain it. Nonetheless, I love 10,000 Days. I also love Chicken McNuggets. I also love elaborate meals. I love steak. Anyway, I did fly out to L.A. from Memphis to go see Tool both nights in L.A. last September and I have tickets for the Baton Rouge show so don't get the wrong idea, I love Chicken McNuggets.

this album is very albumy... maybe its not the epic masterpiece of the band but youre acting like that detracts from it. jesus.
youre given heroin and youre like that rocks.
then youre given cocaine, and youre like "this isnt hardcore enough"
just enjoy your drugs asshole.
